Abstract: A lumbar support for a seat includes an archable pressure surface having an upper region and a lower region and a force actuator such as an electric motor. The force actuator is held in a housing. The actuator housing is fixedly attached to said archable pressure surface in a compact design. A force transmission element such as a cable is connected to at least one of the upper and lower regions of the pressure surface and the force transmission element is also connected to the actuator. When force is applied by the force actuator to the cable, the pressure surface arches from a substantially flat position to an arched position.

Abstract: An operator interface for a control system for a bulk material baler includes interface means such as a touch screen or keyboard for an operator to enter process parameters into a control system memory. A display shows process parameter fields into which an operator may enter desired control parameters. The display also displays data feedback from baler process sensors. The baler control system then controls baling parameters as the operator directs including: strap feed position, strap feed speed, strap feed torque, strap release tension, tying cylinder position, tying cylinder speed and tying cylinder torque. The operator may also control carriage movement, alarm limits, shut off limits and monitor on the display baler processing data both currently and historically. Other aspects of automated baling may be optionally monitored or controlled through the operator interface of the present invention.

Abstract: A tensioning cable actuator has a housing with a nut held in the housing. The nut has threads which engage a lead screw that has corresponding threads. A pulley cradle is fixed to the lead screw. The pulley cradle is disposed within the housing to translate axially with the lead screw upon rotation of the nut. A pulley is disposed in the pulley cradle. A Bowden cable wire wraps around the pulley and is anchored to the housing so that the wire moves into or out of the Bowden cable sleeve twice far as the lead screw moves.
Abstract: This invention is directed to a mattress assembly for use in a sofa sleeper. The mattress assembly has a first mattress that has an inner-spring construction. Disposed above the first mattress is a second mattress that has an air bladder construction. The air bladder of the second mattress has a valve, which is located adjacent the head end of the mattress. The valve is adapted to selectively allow air into and out of the air bladder. The mattress assembly thus provides the combination of an innerspring mattress with an air mattress. The location of the valve allows the air mattress portion to be deflated properly and allows convenient access to the valve for inflation or air pressure adjustment purposes.
Abstract: A clamping system for a sewing machine used to sew first and second materials together. The clamping system has a plurality of clamps mounted adjacent an opening in a frame. Each of the clamps has a stationary member, a movable member and an actuator. The actuator is connected to the movable member and operates to move the movable member in a clamping relationship with the stationary member to clamp the first material in the clamp. The clamp is powered by a cylinder with a linear stroke, and the clamp has a driving member that transfers the linear motion of the cylinder into a pivoting motion of the movable member. Further, the movable and fixed members have forward ends shaped so that they hold the first material but do not interfere with a sewing of the first member to the second member.
Abstract: A bedding or seating product comprising a base and a topper located above the base, the base and topper being surrounded in an upholstered covering. In one embodiment, the topper comprises a plurality of parallel continuous bands of springs, each of said bands being made of one piece of wire. In another embodiment, the topper is posturized with coil spring segments and filler segments. The segments may extend from side to side or be arranged in numerous other configurations.
Abstract: A posturized foam topper pad (12) for use in a bedding or seating product (10) has at least one section (28) which includes latex, and at least one section (26) which is free of latex, thereby providing the foam topper pad (12) with different degrees of firmness.
Abstract: A shelving display system comprising a conventional gondola made up of a generally horizontal base and at least two upstanding posts to which generally horizontal top and bottom tracks are attached. Support/display members, such as decorative panels, standards for shelf brackets and shelves, and partitions may be attached to the top and bottom tracks to complete the system.

Abstract: A unitized back plate and lumbar support device for a seat including a back plate, a housing with a channel, which housing is fixedly attached to the back plate, and an extending paddle. The extending paddle has a free end with a pressure surface, the surface being a load bearing element proximal to a seat occupant, and the extending paddle has an encapsulated end in extendible communication with the channel in the housing. An actuator mediates travel of the extending paddle between a substantially retracted position and an extended position.
Abstract: A lumbar support to be installed in a seat has an apex that varies vertically along a guide rail. The guide rail has an upper stop and a lower stop. A bowing element disposed on the guide rail travels in a substantially vertical plane. A first bowden cable draws an upper of the bowing element downward until a lower portion of the bowing element is in abutment with the lower stop such that a low convexity is formed in the bowing element as the bowden cable continues to draw the upper portion of said bowing element further towards the lower stop. A second bowden cable draws a lower portion of the bowing element upward until the upper portion of the bowing element is in abutment with the upper stop and such that a high convexity is formed in the bowing element as the bowing element continues to draw said lower portion of the bowing element further towards the upper stop.
Abstract: The apparatus has an indexable carriage adapted to move the coil springs and the border wire along a path. A wire cutter disposed adjacent the path has an inner member with an axial hole adapted to receive the wire and a tubular outer member receiving the inner member and movable relative to the inner member. The outer member has a cutting edge. An actuator is operatively connected to one of the inner and outer members to provide a relative rotation between the inner and outer members. That relative rotation results in the wire being sheared by the cutting edge to provide a length of wire. A wire wrapping mechanism disposed adjacent the path receives the length of wire and wraps the length of wire around an end turn of a coil spring and a border wire.
Abstract: A shelf assembly for organizing and merchandising a plurality of products. The shelf assembly comprises a shelf having a bottom, plurality of dividers extending from front to back, a pair of dividers and the bottom forming a track in which a column of products are arranged. A front member pivotal about a stop, or pivotally engaged with the dividers, prevents the forwardmost product within the column from falling off the front of the shelf. The pivotal front members enable product to be pulled forwardly off the shelf, minimizing the spacing necessary between adjacent shelves.
Abstract: A coupled waveband (14, 21) suspension for bed underframes, seating, upholstery, and mattresses consists of several sinusoidal wavebands (14, 21) which run parallel and/or transversely to the longitudinal axis. Support elements (12, 35) are rigidly or moveably fixed to or ride on the crests or maxima of the wavebands (14, 21). The troughs or minima are supported by slide or roll bearing elements (17) affixed to the frame. A strong interactive coupling is achieved between the support elements (12, 35) causing a positive stroke of the less pressure-loaded segments and the appropriate support elements by the simultaneous lowering of the pressure-loaded waveband segments. The wavebands (14, 21) are manufactured out of higher quality, elastically flexible sold plastic or foam material, or of spring steel band or wire, duralumin, or out of formed laminated wood.
Abstract: A cutting table for cutting pieces of fabric. The table has a fabric supporting surface mounted on a frame. A cutter is manually movable along a linear cutting path that is substantially perpendicular to an edge guide. First and second light emitting devices emit respective first and second lights in a direction substantially parallel to the linear cutting path. A manually powered drive supports the first and second light emitting devices in a spaced apart relationship, and the drive is manually operable to move the light emitting devices through equal displacements in opposite directions substantially perpendicular to the linear cutting path. The light emitting devices are used to quickly align the fabric, so that it can be cut to a desired width.
