  • Publication number: 20140016513
Abstract: According to a first aspect of the present invention there is provided a method of operating a telecommunications network to determine a language to be used for a message that is to be sent to a terminal of a user of the network. The method comprises the steps of inspecting packets sent over the network to and/or from a terminal used by the user in order to identify one or more languages specified within application layer protocol information contained in the packets; and selecting an identified language as the language that is to be used for the message.

  • Publication number: 20140019581
Abstract: A method for handling transmission of error indication messages in a communication network is provided. A destination computer associated with a destination address receives a user data packet from a source computer associated with a source address. A determination is made as to whether a destination identifier included in the user data packet is known. If it is determined that the destination identifier is known, then the user data packet is transmitted to a destination associated with the destination identifier. Else, the transmission of the first error indication message is delayed and the transmission of subsequent error indication messages is paced if subsequent user data packets received from the source computer include the unknown destination identifier.

  • Publication number: 20140016471
Abstract: An overlay network, node and application for load balanced service discovery. The application includes the steps of implementing the service discovery mechanism in the DHT P2P overlay network for finding a peer (1100) that provides a desired service; a step of adding to a record structure (50) of the service discovery mechanism a maximum capacity parameter Cmax (54) and a currently used capacity parameter Ccurrent (56); and a step of removing from the tree (10) a record of the peer (1110) that provides the desired service when the currently used capacity reaches a predetermined capacity so that the peer is not contacted by other service clients.

  • Publication number: 20140018115
Abstract: A system and method of cancelling downlink inter-channel interference between a first selected UE in one sector of a cell and a second selected UE in a second sector of said cell by using intra-eNB DL CoMP is described. UEs which are affected by ICI are identified in sectors which are adjacent to each other in the cell. A downlink CoMP operational set is formed for the identified UEs. Channel matrix blocks are estimated for the first and second selected UEs. The channel matrix blocks are representations of the channel characteristics between the first and second UE, in their respective sectors and the serving base station. The estimated channel matrix blocks are then loaded into a cross-sector channel block matrix. The inverse values of the channel matrix blocks are then calculated to form a sector specific cross-sector pre-coding matrix which is used to enable interference cancellation.

  • Patent number: 8630648
Abstract: A base station, computer readable medium and method for determining whether a neighbor cell is a neighbor of a serving cell, where the serving cell and the neighbor cell belong to a same communication network that includes a user terminal served by the serving cell. The method includes receiving at a base station of the serving cell, via the user terminal, a first identity of the neighbor cell, a second identity of the neighbor cell, and a random number generated by a base station of the neighbor cell; sending, from the base station of the serving cell, a request to the base station of the neighbor cell, for establishing a neighbor relation, wherein the request includes the received random number; and obtaining at the base station of the serving cell a response from the base station of the neighbor cell in response to the request, the response indicating acceptance or denial of the neighbor relation.

  • Patent number: 8630415
Abstract: A method and communication node for providing secure communications and services in a High Availability (HA) cluster. The communication node comprises an Operating System (OS) that detects an unavailability of a first service application process and switches a second service application process from the first state to the second state, the second service application being selected for taking over service currently provided from the first service application process, the first state and the second state each being associated to a set of rights in the cluster. The OS generates a private key for the second service application process based on its second state. The set of rights associated to the second state allows the OS to replace the first service application process with the second service application process for providing secure communications between the second service application and other service application processes in the HA cluster.

  • Patent number: 8630162
Abstract: Fast flooding based fast convergence to recover from a network failure. A router detects a network failure, and responsive to that failure, transmits a fast failure notification message to a set of one or more routers. The fast failure notification message includes information that identifies the network failure and also indicates that the fast failure notification message is to be flooded by the set of routers independently of convergence. The router updates a routing table to reflect the network failure. The transmission of the fast failure notification message is performed prior to completion of the routing table update to reflect the network failure.

  • Patent number: 8630037
Abstract: A near-infrared (NIR) optical shutter comprises a multiple-bandpass filter that is characterized by a bandstop filter region located between first and second bandpass filter regions. The first bandpass filter region passes visible light; the bandstop filter region blocks NIR light of wavelengths within a NIR light sensor band region; and the second bandpass filter region passes NIR light of longer wavelengths than a longer wavelength boundary of the NIR light sensor band region. A polarization state changer positioned between NIR polarizing filters and optically associated with the multiple-bandpass filter causes visible light transmission selectively in first and second light states. The polarization state changer in the first light state causes substantially reduced optical shutter transmission of NIR light in the second bandpass filter region and in the second light state causes substantially increased optical shutter transmission of NIR light in the second bandpass filter region.

  • Patent number: 8630397
Abstract: A method and apparatus for charging control of service usage in an electronic communications system. An invocation of charging control is received from a service client for service usage by a user. Charging related data and rules checked for the user and it is determined whether the session should be charging controlled. In case of a non charging controlled session, a response message is returned to the charging client, indicating that the session is not charging controlled and that the service usage is to be reported at the end-of-session. A report of usage is received—from the client—including information of the usage consumed during the session at the end-of-session.

  • Patent number: 8630668
Abstract: An instant messaging service is provided using short message service (SMS) messages as the underlying transport layer. A user having a phone associated with an MSISDN can use a client to generate messages that are then transmitted as if they originated from the phone. The SMS message is delivered to the second party's phone as per a normal SMS message. If the second party is also using a client, the client can retrieve messages addressed to the second party's MSISDN even though client does not need to be associated with the MSISDN. The use of SMS messages provides for a persistent and reliable transport layer, and also allows for fall back to SMS messaging for either party independently.
