Abstract: A method of making a multi-layer border for use in a bedding product, such as a mattress, is disclosed. The layers are secured together without the use of heat, thereby enabling the process to be stopped and started as desired without the worry of burning the materials. Pressure is applied to the multi-layered material in the form of pinch rollers to secure the layers together. One of the layers comprises an outer ticking material. As many layers of foam and/or fiber as desired may be included, provided a layer of doubled-sided adhesive is sandwiched between adjacent layers. A backing may comprise the innermost layer.

Abstract: A system and method for imaging objects with a sparse detector array that includes fewer detectors than conventional x-ray scanning systems. The sparse detector array is positioned to receive x-ray radiation from the at least one x-ray source after passing through an inspection area. The sparse detector array includes a plurality of rows of detector elements, wherein at least some of the plurality of rows are separated by gaps such that the at least some of the plurality of rows are non-contiguous. An iterative reconstruction process is used to determine a volumetric image of the object from the radiation measurements recorded by the detectors in the sparse detector array.

Abstract: A passport and identification card reader minimizes the time and effort required for an operator to read/scan a passport or piece of identification. An immigration official, for example, can slide a passport into place with one hand while tending to other important security activities with the other hand. Once in place, the passport will be automatically detected and read. Numerous passports bound together by a traveler with multiple visas can be held flat in place and accurately read, even with one hand, despite the natural tendency of the passport(s) to return to a closed position.

Abstract: A first control node and a method therein for selecting the first control node or a second control node to act as a server are provided. The first and second control nodes are comprised in an overlay network. The first control node obtains a first indication relating to a ranking of a suitability of the first control node to act as the server. Furthermore, the first control node receives a second indication from the second control node. The second indication relates to a ranking of a suitability of the second control node to act as the server. Then, the first control node selects, based on the first and second indications, one of the first and second control nodes to act as the server for managing a master representation of a distributed shared memory being accessible within the overlay network.

  • Publication number: 20130236017
Abstract: A method for encrypting radio resource control (RRC) messages exchanged between a wireless communication device and a node in a wireless communication system includes separating sequence number rollover events from mobility events while encrypting radio resource control (RRC) messages for exchange within a wireless communication system. According to the method, the sequence number rollover events and mobility events are separated by utilizing a state transition counter, a handover counter, and an overflow counter such that, when the state counter is incremented due to occurrences of a first group of events, the handover counter and the overflow counter are re-set to zero and, when the handover counter is incremented due to occurrences of a second group of events the overflow counter is re-set to zero.

  • Publication number: 20130238080
Abstract: An improved tubular structure adapted to increase in diameter upon application of axial force is provided. Increase in diameter is achieved by constructing the tube from multiple layers of material that move relative to each other during axial elongation of the tube. The tube of the present invention can be used both to avoid problems in “necking” found in many prior tube devices, and to provide additional benefits that increases in diameter of the tube during axial elongation can provide. As such, the tube of the present invention may be useful as a manufacturing aid, as a deployment sheath (for example, to deliver medical devices), and in other applications that may benefit from easier tubular sheath removal.
