Publication number: 20130246635Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for applying multiple Link Aggregation Group (LAG) entities on the same set of physical links, thus making bundling of individual services or conversations possible by the different LAG entities within Link Aggregation. Each LAG entity is configured such that a single physical link is Active and all the other links are Standby. Each LAG entity may be regarded as a “bundle.” Thus the services/conversations are bundled into a LAG entity and are handed-off on the Active link during normal operation. If service hand-off is not possible on the Active link (e.g., due to a failure), then the LAG entity switches over to a Standby link thus the service/conversation is handed-off on that formerly Standby link. Bundling may simplify operations of control and signaling.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2012Publication date: September 19, 2013Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Balázs Peter Gerö, János Farkas, Shahryar Khan, Panagiotis Saltsidis, Balázs Varga

Patent number: 8538447Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing Time Division Multiplex resources for a pool of Mobile Switching Center Servers in a communications network. Time Division Multiplex resources are provided at a Media Gateway function serving the pool of Mobile Switching Center Servers. Virtual Time Division Multiplex resources are allocated to each Mobile Switching Center Server in the pool and mapped to the Time Division Multiplex resources. An ISUP signalling proxy function may be provided at the Media Gateway function. TDM resources are allocated to at least one Mobile Switching Center, and associated with an identifier of the Mobile Switching Center Server. Patent number: 8537936Abstract: Channel quality metrics (such as SINR, BLER, and the like) are derived from a raw bit error rate (RBER), defined as the error rate of raw bits output by a demodulator. These initial raw bits are decoded and error-checked (or error-corrected). The error-free decoded bits are re-encoded, and the regenerated raw bits are compared to the initial raw bits to determine the RBER. The RBER is then converted to SINR, BLER, or other channel quality metric. The RBER-based metrics are derived from a data channel rather than reference signals, and hence more accurately reflect deviations from nominal transmission power level, and include receiver demodulator impairments.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2010Date of Patent: September 17, 2013Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Yi-Pin Eric Wang, George Jöngren

Patent number: 8539564Abstract: A method of establishing keys for at least partially securing media plane data exchanged between first and second end users via respective first and second media plane network nodes. The method comprises sending session set-up signalling from said first end point towards said second end point, said session set-up signalling including a session key generated by said first end point. The set-up signalling is intercepted at a first signalling plane network node and a determination made as to whether or not a signalling plane key has already been established for securing the signalling plane between said first end point and said first signalling plane network node. If a signalling plane key has already been established, then a media plane key is derived from that signalling plane key, and the media plane key sent to said first media plane network node for securing the media plane between said first end user and said first media plane network node.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2009Date of Patent: September 17, 2013Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Mats Näslund, Rolf Blom, Yi Cheng, Fredrik Lindholm, Karl Norrman

Patent number: 8537948Abstract: A method and an interface unit is provided to maintain timing synchronization between a first Radio Equipment Controller (REC) and a second REC operating with a multi-standard base station. The first REC receives a synchronization signal and synchronized data output is generated from the synchronization signal. A clock signal is then generated from the synchronized data output. At the second REC, the synchronized data output is received and a synchronization source is then reconstructed from the first clock signal. A timing and frequency component of a second clock signal is then aligned to that of the reconstructed synchronization source, such that the second REC can maintain synchronization with the first REC.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2011Date of Patent: September 17, 2013Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Jaroslaw Przada, Glen Rempel, Ken Huisman
