Abstract: An image scanning apparatus includes an image sensor to scan a manuscript, a transfer apparatus to pick up the manuscript and move the manuscript to a manuscript transfer path, and a loading apparatus to load the manuscript scanned by the image sensor. The loading apparatus includes a discharge tray to hold a discharged manuscript and a guide member to have one end rotatably disposed on the manuscript above an upper part of the discharge tray at an angle formed relative to the discharge tray based on a type of the manuscript.

Abstract: Examples techniques to determine print material subscription plans for image rendering devices are described. In an example, data indicative of print material consumption by an image rendering device for a period of time is received at a server. Based on the received data, a print material subscription plan is determined for the image rendering device. Signals to enable provision of a notification corresponding to first print material subscription plan are transmitted to the image rendering device.

Abstract: A server-facing port activation system includes a core network system, a server device, and a networking device that includes at least one uplink port coupled to the core network system, and a first downlink port coupled to the server device. The networking device begin initialization operations and, in response, identifies that the first downlink port is coupled to the server device and prevents the first downlink port from being made available. While preventing the first downlink port from being made available, the networking device configures the at least one uplink port coupled to the core network system with server device information associated with the server device. The networking device then determines that the at least one uplink port coupled to the core network system is available and, in response, causes the first downlink port that is coupled to the server device to be made available.

Abstract: In a three-dimensional printing method example, a liquid functional agent is selectively applied. The liquid functional agent includes i) an energy source material or ii) an energy sink material. A metallic or ceramic build material is applied. The liquid functional agent is selectively applied any of before the metallic or ceramic build material, after the metallic or ceramic build material, or both before and after the metallic or ceramic build material. The liquid functional agent patterns the metallic or ceramic build material to form a composite layer. At least some of the metallic or ceramic build material is exposed to energy. A reaction involving i) the energy source material or ii) the energy sink material is initiated to alter a thermal condition of the composite layer.

The method also includes sending the media content as data packets via data packet streams to the media device from the customer premises equipment device. A data packet stream of the data packet streams is sent via each communication connection of the concurrent communication connections. Each data packet stream includes less than all data packets of the media content, and the media device processes the data packets received via the data packet streams to generate media content output.

Abstract: A method of determining and depicting an effective storage capacity of a storage system includes determining a storage-based limit of effective storage capacity and a metadata-based limit of effective storage capacity. The storage-based limit is based on an amount of unused capacity of a set of managed drives and a data reduction ratio achieved when host data is reduced prior to storage on the set of managed drives. Data reduction may include compression, deduplication, and pattern detection operations. The metadata-based limit is based on a volume of metadata that has been generated by the data, and the data reduction operations, in connection with writing the data to the set of managed drives, and based on an amount of memory allocated to storing the metadata. The effective storage capacity, actual storage usage, and data reduction ratio are graphically depicted over time to enable changes to these parameters to be visualized.

Abstract: A system for manufacturing three dimensional objects can include logic to apply a gas with at least one flow rate to a vessel of a three dimensional printer. The logic can also detect a permeability of a build material residing within the vessel, wherein the permeability is calculated based on a plurality of pressure values detected by a plurality of pressure sensors residing in the vessel, and apply the gas with a predetermined humidity level at a second flow rate to modify the permeability of the build material residing in the vessel. Furthermore, the logic can initialize manufacturing a three dimensional object with the build material in response to detecting the permeability of the build material is below a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A method for starting up an air separation plant having a higher-pressure column, a lower-pressure column, and a falling film vaporizer disposed within a lower section of the lower-pressure column is provided. The method can include the steps of: introducing a cooled and compressed air stream into the higher pressure column; withdrawing an oxygen-enriched liquid stream from a bottom section of the higher-pressure column and introducing said oxygen-enriched liquid stream to an upper section of the lower-pressure column; and exchanging heat between nitrogen gas coming from a top section of the higher-pressure column and liquid oxygen from the lower-pressure column within the falling film vaporizer. During a start-up period, flow of liquid oxygen is at least reduced to the closed core. This reduces the available heat exchange area during start up, which increases ?T and ?P in the condenser/reboiler.

Abstract: Certain examples described herein relate to preparing a base of build material for additive manufacturing. The base is formed from layers of build material that do not form part of an object undergoing additive manufacture. The base is heated by the application of energy, for example using a radiation source. A thermal profile of the base is measured after heating and is used to determine a pattern of application of at least one printing agent to the base. The pattern of application is used to deposit the at least one printing agent upon the base, wherein the presence of the printing agent affects the heating of the base. In this way the pattern of application of printing agent may be used to effect a thermal homogeneity of the base.

Abstract: An apparatus for upholstering a truss allows an operator to staple a fabric web to the truss, rotate the truss, further staple the semi-finished truss and cut the fabric web. The truss is fully upholstered after the end surfaces of the truss are wrapped up in fabric and the fabric stapled in place. The apparatus may accommodate different size trusses. A web of fabric is pulled around at least one roller in the apparatus by rotation of two vise mechanisms on opposite sides of the truss.
