Patent number: 8204754Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a voice detector receiving an input signal that is divided into sub-signals that represent a frequency sub-band. The voice detector calculates, for each sub-band, a signal-to-noise (SNR) value based on a corresponding sub-signal for each sub-band and a background signal for each sub-band. The voice detector also calculates a power SNR value for each sub-band, where at least one of the power SNR values is calculated based on a non-linear function. The voice detector forms a single value based on the calculated power SNR values and compares the single value and a given threshold value to make a voice activity decision presented on an output port.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2007Date of Patent: June 19, 2012Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventor: Martin Sehlstedt

Patent number: 8203948Abstract: There is provided a en edge node and a method of controlling session admission in a communications network. The method comprises measuring a Quality of Service parameter between an edge node and a corresponding edge node and, on the basis of the measured Quality of Service parameter, calculating a target window size. The target window size relates to the maximum rate of data that can be sent from the edge node to the corresponding edge node while retaining a predetermined Quality of Service. A current window size is determined on the basis of existing established sessions between the two edge nodes. When a request for session admission is received, the current window size is compared with the target window size and, on the basis of the comparison, a determination is made whether to admit the request for session admission.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2007Date of Patent: June 19, 2012Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Norbert Kiss, Gergely Pongracz, Gergely Seres

Publication number: 20120147828Abstract: Load measurements having low computational complexity are provided that give an effective load after interference suppression. The effective load after interference may be compared with the air interface load to determine interference suppression gains for different user constellations. The interference suppression gains may be stored in the form of a gain table that gives the expected interference suppression gains for different user constellations. The expected interference suppression gains may be used by a scheduler at a base station to predict the effective load for two or more candidate user constellations, and to select one of the candidate user constellations. Users are then scheduled according to the selected user constellation.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2011Publication date: June 14, 2012Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventor: Karl Torbjörn Wigren

Publication number: 20120147750Abstract: Techniques for a mobile station to signal a request for a reduction in data transmission rate to a base station are disclosed. An example method for facilitating flow control in a wireless communication system includes monitoring resource use associated with a mobile station and, based upon the resource use, setting a congestion indicator in a header of at least one uplink traffic data packet. The uplink traffic data packet is then sent to a wireless base station, which detects the congestion indicator. In some embodiments, ECN bits in an IP header of the uplink traffic data packet are set. In other embodiments, ECN bits in an IP header of a downlink traffic data packet are set, to trigger the generation of a TCP header that indicates congestion in subsequent uplink packets.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2010Publication date: June 14, 2012Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Ghyslain Pelletier, Janne Peisa

Publication number: 20120150335Abstract: Techniques are described for monitoring the performance of advanced process control (APC) systems used to control complex industrial processes. By correlating an alarm status of the APC system with an alarm status associated with the service factor (or service factor thresholds), a plant operator can understand how well the APC system performs over time, as well as identify when operator intervention may be required (or alternatively, may be the source of poor plant performance). Accordingly, embodiments of the invention can significantly impact both the reliability and efficiency of complex industrial process, e.g., the production of industrial gases using air separation units (ASUs) and steam methane reformer (SMR) furnaces.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2010Publication date: June 14, 2012Applicant: L'Air Liquide Societe Anonyme Pour L'Etude Et L'Exploitation Des Procedes Georges ClaudeInventors: Amogh Vishwanath Prabhu, Geraldine Carlos

Publication number: 20120150334Abstract: As described, a neural network based fault detection and analysis tool may be integrated with a physical (or semi physical) model based fault detection and analysis tool. The physical modeling tool provides a mathematical model of plant processes, e.g., a set of mass/energy balance equations modeling the systems at a specific plant. In contrast, the neural network develops a model of a given set of sensors from process data. One advantage of the neural network based tool is that it does not require fundamental knowledge of the process. However, the neural network is only valid for the conditions for which it was trained (i.e., conditions represented by a set of training data). Therefore, the neural network will occasionally need to be re-trained as the process conditions change. In contrast, the physical modeling tool based tool does not need to be retrained and remains valid for all process conditions accounted for in the fundamental models.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2010Publication date: June 14, 2012Applicant: L'Air Liquide Societe Anonyme Pour L'Etude Et L'Exploitation Des Procedes Georges ClaudeInventor: Jeffrey E. Publication number: 20120148240Abstract: A method of requesting reservation of a label switched path (LSP) for traffic of a type compatible with ITU-T G709 amendment 3, in an optical transport network by sending a RSVP-TE path message for the reservation of the requested LSP from an ingress node of the requested path, via intermediate nodes along the path to an egress node, and sending a RSVP-TE resv message from the egress node, to cause the nodes to reserve resources for the requested path. The path message has a signal type field having values assigned to indicate traffic types specified in G.709 amendment 3 beyond those specified by G.709 pre amendment 3, without reuse of values specified by G.709 pre amendment 3. Since the nodes along the path can still distinguish in the signal type field any values of the signal type field specified by G.709 pre amendment 3, new nodes can still work with legacy messages.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 4, 2010Publication date: June 14, 2012Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (publ)Inventors: Daniele Ceccarelli, Diego Caviglia, Francesco Fondelli
