  • Patent number: 8571038
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system are described for a central station to allocate virtual IP addresses. A device service manager server (DSM) has a network access module configured to cooperate with two or more device service controllers (DSCs). The DSM serves as a central management station for allocating and assigning Virtual IP addresses to network devices to proxy communications for networked devices on a local area network (LAN) where each DSC resides. The DSM is located exterior from the network devices on the LAN where communications associated with the assigned VIP addresses are being routed to. The DSM assigns a Virtual IP Addresses to each DSC and establishes a route from the assigned Virtual IP address to a destination network device on a LAN, based on corresponding DSC and network device information stored in a registry of the DSM.

  • Patent number: 8560734
Abstract: A method and system that allows a host system application to securely communicate with a legacy device is provided. A redirector software module receives data that is destined for a host system serial COM port. Data is secured and re-directed to a legacy device via a network port instead of the serial COM port. Conversely, data destined for the host system is provided to a device server via a server COM port by the legacy serial device. The data can be encrypted and sent to the host system via the network. The redirector software module decrypts the encrypted data and presents it to the consumer application as if the data had arrived via the local COM port.

  • Publication number: 20130227128
Abstract: A system and method to allow for connectivity of a plurality of medical devices in a health care setting and the delivery of data from those medical devices to an individual to utilize the information received is provided. In typical medical devices, the reporting of data is distinct and hard to interpret. The present invention provides a set of graphical tools that allow the interpretation of different data from different medical devices. Additionally, the present invention provides a set of software tools that allows the data received from a plurality of different medical devices to be separated into more appropriate fields based on pre-determined configuration to assign specific flagged data to specific devices. This information allows the user to receive data whereby the data is previously interpreted to determine from what medical device the information has been received and how to interpret the data for further processing.

  • Publication number: 20130211854
Abstract: System and methods to allow for communication, decoding, interpretation and presentation of information received from a plurality of medical devices in a health care network is provided. Information that is received from the medical device may be decoded by the system into metrics based on values extracted from the medical device. The system may then model the decoded information and/or metrics into a format which is useful for an end user. Additionally, the system may then have a presentation model which allows the information to be presented to the end user via a preferred display mechanism. In an embodiment, the mechanism may be a chart, graph or text readout. The system may have a sensor incorporated which produces the metric and decodes the raw data received from the medical devices. The system may also include a controller which may view all data received from the medical devices and analyzes for changes.

  • Publication number: 20130156047
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a communication protocol converter to allow a legacy device utilizing IPv4 to operate across the network using IPv6. In a first embodiment of the invention, two modular Ethernet connectors are placed side-by-side. A first modular connector receives IPv4 Ethernet data which is converted to a raw data signal. The data is transmitted from the first modular connector to a second modular connector by a bidirectional data line. The second connector receives the raw data, and a raw data-to-Ethernet conversion is completed providing output at IPv6. The present invention utilizes the form factor structure of the Ethernet connectors, so that the entire electronic circuitry is contained within the connectors to complete the conversion. An alternate embodiment incorporates the connectors into a single housing and the conversion is completed internally by a microprocessor and embedded software. A method of IPv4 to IPv6 conversion is additionally disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20120284374
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system are described for a central management system to configure remote devices. A device service manager server (DSM) may have an IP redirector module configured to cooperate with two or more device service controllers (DSCs) that are behind a firewall on a wide area network relative to a location of the DSM on the wide area network, where the DSM serves as a central management station for a distribution of initial configuration information to the DSCs, wherein an executable boot up file uploaded via a drive port in that DSC is scripted to gather configuration information for that DSC and network devices on the same network as that DSC and without a prompt by the DSM then sends configuration files to the DSM which makes a master copy of the device configuration file in the DSM's registry for that DSC.

Abstract: An asset management system is presented. The management system includes monitoring devices able to provide asset data across firewalls without requiring reconfiguration of the firewalls. The asset data pass through a forwarding service that instantiates a virtual tunnel comprising a communication channel between the monitoring devices and remote asset management engines. The asset management engines can also be located behind firewalls. As the management engines aggregate asset data, the engines can present one or more alerts via a management interface.
