Abstract: There is provided an improved device for adjusting a coin passage of a coin handling machine, wherein two coin selection guides defining the coin passage are moved relative to each other. The device comprises two sliders connected respectively to the two coin selection guides, a link pivoted at the point substantially centrally of the longitudinal extension thereof and having ends connected to the sliders for resiliently urging the ends of the link to engage members respectively fixed to the sliders and a cam abutting directly or indirectly against one of the ends of the link for moving the same by a pre-set distance in response to the change in diameter of the coins to be passed through the coin passage. By the use of the device according to the invention, said sliders are moved in the directions reverse to each other by the same distance so as to move the associated coin selection guides to increase or decrease the width of the coin passage without changing the longitudinal center line of the passage.

Abstract: A coin counting machine is described having an anti-jamming device for removing jammed coins from a passageway. A jam detection circuit is provided for indicating the jamming of a passageway. A stop control circuit is provided whereby the coin counting machine operation is halted at which time the jam is removed. Jam removal is accomplished by reversing direction of operation of the counting machine. The apparatus described thereby prevents damage to the machine which would normally result from coin jamming.

Abstract: There is proposed a paper sheet counting machine provided with a safety device, the machine including a paper sheet counting mechanism and a double-leaf type sound-proof covers made movable between an open position to gain easy access to said counting mechanism and a closed position at which said sound-proof covers extend above the section containing said counting mechanism. The safety device is constructed such that the closing movements of the sound-proof covers are stopped if an obstacle is present adjacently or engaged with the edge faces of the sound-proof covers. The safety device comprises an obstacle detecting member and a control circuit responsive to a signal generated from said obstacle detecting member for generating a signal to stop the closing movements of the sound-proof covers, or alternatively it comprises a control circuit including a timer.

Abstract: The device of the invention is assembled in a paper sheet counting apparatus to stop and held the suction heads at the predetermined positions at which one of the suction heads is precisely opposite to the face of the paper sheet in the face-to-face relationship. The suction heads are carried by a rotary cylinder having peripheral face on which a group of recesses each corresponding to each of the suction heads is formed. One of the recesses receives a pawl of a stopper when the rotary cylinder is stopped to terminate the paper sheet counting operation. The stopper is held at a retracted position when the counting operation is continued and moved to an engaging position when the one cycle counting operation is terminated. A slipping slope diverges from each recess outwards. The stopper is provided with an elongated hole in which a shaft is inserted, and the stopper is swinged about the shaft to be moved between the retracted position and the position to be engaged with one of the recesses.

Abstract: In an apparatus for discharging a number of articles from a plurality of containers one after another by unlocking the doors for the containers by means of series of actuators, a mechanism for automatically resetting the actuators to their original positions in preparation for their next unlocking operation. The actuators are rotatable about their axes and are interlocked with each other with their actuating points being offset by a selected angle from each other, the selected angle being amount obtained by dividing 360.degree. by the number of the containers. The actuators are rotated the selected angle at a time. When the last actuator has unlocked the door for the last container, all the actuators automatically return back to their original angular positions.

Abstract: There is provided a disbursing device in a paper sheet counting machine. The disbursing device comprises a feed roller continuously rotated in one direction, a first brake plate disposed along the periphery of the feed roller to confront the feed roller, with a gap between the feed roller and the brake plate being freely adjustable, and a second brake plate disposed just behind the first brake plate and arranged so that a gap between the second brake plate and the feed roller can be adjusted independently of the adjustment of the first-mentioned gap. Two gaps can be adjusted respectively according to the thickness of paper sheets to be disbursed. The gap adjustment is performed in two stages, whereby paper sheets are reliably delivered one at a time.

Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for processing sheets. The apparatus comprises a feeding zone, a discriminating zone, a sorting zone and a stacking zone. The feeding zone includes rollers and guides for taking out sheets one at a time from a group of sheets in the stacked state and feeding them into a conveyor path. The discriminating zone includes a plurality of sensors for detecting positions, a magnetic pattern and a photo-pattern to discriminate the sheets. The sorting zone includes angularly rotatable forks for sorting the sheets according to their kinds in response to the signals from the discriminating zone. The stacking zone includes containers for stacking the sheets sorted by the sorting zone.

Abstract: There is provided a compact and simple dispenser for dispensing envelopes each containing a predetermined number of paper sheets such as bank notes and being positively guided by perforations formed at the marginal side or sides of the envelopes. A series of envelopes is housed and stocked in a container unit of the dispenser while being folded one on another to form a train of envelopes which are cut off along the folded lines and then dispensed individually under the control of the central control center. The dispenser of the invention comprises the container unit which has a lock, and a dispensing unit having a cavity for receiving the container unit and a locking device for releasingly locking the lock of the container unit until a signal instructing disassembly of the container unit from the dispensing unit is received.

Abstract: An apparatus for counting bendable sheets and discriminating different kinds thereof has a plurality of rotary suction heads for deflecting the sheets one at a time away from a stack of sheets held in a vertical direction on a holder and has a system for optically detecting the height of a sheet deflected away from the stack. Each of the suction heads has at its top a supporting member for engaging with the surface of a sheet which has been deflected away from the stack. The deflected sheet is engaged at its opposite surfaces with the supporting members of two adjacent suction heads, thus being supported in an upright state without bending downwardly.

Abstract: There is provided a register apparatus. The register apparatus includes a key input device for successively entering commodity prices and the amount of money received from a customer by a keying operation; a note identifying device for identifying the denomination of the note received from the customer; an arithmetic control device adapted to add said commodity prices and to calculate the sum of said amount of money entered through said key input device and the amount of money identified by said note identifying device, said arithmetic control device being further adapted to compare the sum of said commodity prices and said sum of money with each other to calculate the amount of change; a display device adapted to display said sum of said commodity price, said sum of money received from the customer and said amount of said change; and a memory device adapted to memorize said sum of said commodity price, said sum of money received from the customer and said amount of said change.

Abstract: A bank note dispensing method, in which, when a manually payable sum is included in the sum requested to be repaid, the sum other than the manually payable sum is discharged with the bank notes of preset or specified denominations from a bank note discharger so that they are temporarily stored in a temporary bank note storing place. The feeding operations of the manually payable sum are performed to confirm the manually payable sum so that the discharged bank notes can be taken out of the storing place. Also disclosed is a bank note dispersing apparatus, in which, when the bank note discharger is charged with the bank notes, the totalled sum of the bank notes is fed as an input for each denomination of the charged bank notes so that it may be stored in advance. The balance is calculated and stored each time the bank notes are dispensed. A warning is generated by an electric near-end mechanism when the balance becomes smaller than a preset value.

Abstract: There is provided a currency handling machine which comprises a setting potentiometer, the movable member of which is rotated to be set by a currency species setting control, a selecting potentiometer, the movable member of which is adapted to be rotated together with one of selected movable members in operation sections, a control circuit to detect a differential potential between the outputs of the setting and selecting potentiometers to issue a driving signal, a driving circuit connected to the control circuit for receiving the driving signal and a motor connected to the driving circuit and adapted to rotate the selected movable members in operation sections in accordance with the driving signal. A rotating direction selecting circuit may be provided for determining the direction of rotation of the motor.

Abstract: A multi-function type sheet counting machine capable of counting sheets under a desired operational mode selected from a plurality of operational modes. As the sheets to be counted are deflected one after another away from a stack of sheets, electrical count pulses corresponding to the number of deflected sheets are generated, and a count corresponding to the number of generated pulses is stored in a counter. A reset circuit is provided so that, at the time of changing over to the add mode from any other operational mode, the counter is automatically reset to clear the count previously stored in the counter.

Abstract: There is provided a coin packaging machine of the type in which one packaging operation is controlled by one revolution of a cam driving shaft. The coin packaging machine is provided with an apparatus for processing irregularly stacked coins.

Abstract: A coin discharge machine wherein a plurality of cartridges, each accommodating coins of a given species, are provided and coins accumulated in at least one selected cartridge are pushed out, one at a time, from the lowermost by selected pair of rod pushers into a coin dropping outlet while each of coins being pushed in caused to be engaged with a counting arm which actuates a microswitch for counting. A comparator is provided for comparing data indicating the selected pair of rod pushers and data indicating selectively actuated microswitches. When both of data are not coincident, the coin discharge machine is stopped.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of setting packaging papers. The method is used in a coin packaging machine wherein the position of a cutting blade is determined to cut off a necessary amount of a packaging paper suitable for the diameter of coins to be packaged, in accordance with the coin kind setting operation. The method comprises the steps of, shifting the cutting blade to a predetermined position for facilitating the cutting operation when a portion of the packaging paper is required to be cut off, and returning the cutting blade to a preset position for the restarting of packaging operation after the portion of the packaging paper has been cut off.

Abstract: A cover is provided on a note counter so that the cover provides a covering on a counting zone which is located on the top portion of the note counter and in which the number of a bundle of notes packed in a holder is counted. The cover is made of a transparent material for inspection and comprises two covering members which are driven so as to move in opposite directions.

Abstract: In a coin wrapping machine wherein stacks of coins of different diameters can be wrapped in a constant number of turns or layers of wrapping paper, having set of rollers for wrapping a stack of coins in a selected length of sheet of wrapping paper determined according to the diameter of the stack of coins, and a cutter capable of moving its position with respect to the rollers for cutting wrapping paper drawn out from a roll of wrapping paper into such selected length, there is provided a guiding apparatus which can guide the wrapping paper from the cutter to the rollers without fail. The guiding apparatus comprises a stationary guide member extending passing over the cutter to the rollers, and an extension type guide member extending along the stationary guide member.

Abstract: There is provided a bill discriminating apparatus which utilizes the presence of a light-emitting substance in a printed zone of the bill when irradiated with ultraviolet rays. The bill discriminating apparatus comprises an ultraviolet ray-emitting member for irradiating a bill to be discriminated, a photoelectric converter element for receiving light rays emitted from a light-emitting substance in a printed zone of the bill when the light-emitting substance is irradiated with ultraviolet rays, and a discriminating circuit for checking pattern signals of the light-emitting substance, which signals are delivered by said converter element.
