Abstract: Disclosed is a channel allocation method on performing a data communication in a wide band wireless multi-media communication system, which allocates selectively reserved time slots or contention time slots, according to the quantity of data to be sent. In the method, contention time slots are used for sending data if the quantity of data to be sent is smaller than a critical value, or reserved time slots are used if the data quantity is greater than the critical value.

Abstract: Methods for searching a composite path for virtual container signals in a similar CLOS switching network is provided that is capable of switching various signal tributaries. The method can include managing a link use state between each state with a linked list and a bit map, searching connectable candidate paths using the link use state and setting a selected or an optimal path among candidate paths as searched, and managing a connection state of channels in the set path using an N-tree data structure and a data structure.

Abstract: The frame synchronization words of the preferred embodiment are especially suitable for frame synchronization confirmation. By adding the autocorrelation functions of shaded frame synchronization words, double maximum values equal in magnitude and opposite polarity at zero and middle shifts are obtained. This property can be used to slot-by-slot and double-check frame synchronization timing and reduce the synchronization search time. Further, the present invention allows a simpler construction of a correlator circuit for a receiver.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a multicasting network apparatus and method for an ATM switching system having a banyan network and a route network which includes a header encoder part for generating a header, a boolean splitter network for copying a cell routed from the banyan network to thereby transmit the same to a route network. The boolean splitter network includes a plurality of boolean splitters, each of the boolean splitters includes the step of dividing the destination addresses of a cell into an upper group and a lower group and selecting an active port to thereby route the same. As described above, any extra translation table is not required owing to a cell copying operation according to the present invention, whereby the number of hardware components can be reduced, and an expansion can be easily performed.

Abstract: Radio protocol for a next generation mobile communication system is disclosed including a radio link control layer for connecting to an upper layer through a service access point provided in advance and for connecting to a lower layer through a plurality of logic channels provided in advance. The radio link control layer includes at least one radio link control entity for transmission/reception of data to/from up-link or down-link according to a form of a data transmission mode.

Abstract: A device for generating memory addresses is provided that is suitable for generating memory addresses transposed in row/column directions with reference to a data successively stored therein along with a mobile station by using the same, and a method for writing/reading a data. The device includes a counter that generates 22n successive addresses in 2n bitstreams to provide row direction addresses, and a barrel shifter that shifts the generated 2n bitstreams by ‘n’ bits to provide column direction addresses. Thus, circuitry of a picture encoder of the mobile station or of an interleaver in a mobile communication system is reduced, and a faster operation speed is obtained.

Abstract: A sound guide for a speaker is capable of guiding a sound of a desired volume to a desired position regardless of installation structure of the speaker. The sound guide for a speaker includes a speaker support for supporting the speaker in a case, and a sound guide groove formed in an inner side of the speaker support, for guiding the direction of the audible signal of the speaker at a predetermined angle. The sound propagation groove has one side coupled with the speaker and other side coupled with a sound propagation hole which is formed in the case. A handset for mobile communication using the sound guide includes a case having a speaker therein, and a sound propagation hole for propagating the audible signal generated by the speaker to outside, wherein the speaker is slanted at a predetermined angle with respect to a front side of the case.

The apparatus can include a key input unit to input a command to the terminal, a controller that generates a control signal adapted to execute the command, a microphone that converts a voice into an analog voice signal and a voice encoder that converts the analog voice signal into a digital voice signal. A memory can retrievably store the digital voice signal outputted from the voice encoder and a voice decoder converts the digital voice signal into an outgoing analog voice signal. A selection device outputs a selected one of the analog voice signal from the microphone and the outgoing analog voice signal from the voice decoder in response to the control signal from the control unit.

The wireless trunk connection system can have connections to a first mobile station for transmitting the destination telephone number dialed by the extension subscriber of the private exchange network to the mobile communication station through the first mobile station when the extension subscriber to the private exchange network requests communication services to the mobile communication network.

Abstract: A method of providing wireless Internet service in a gateway system having a conversation function according to short messages includes storing and managing the latest URL web contents in a URL memory using the TTL, expire time and last modification time for URL web contents. Web contents corresponding to URL information requested by a mobile terminal are parsed and stored in a cache, and then transmitted to the mobile terminal through I-SMSC. The service method stores and manages the latest URL web contents in the URL memory using the TTL, expire time and last modification time for URL web contents to directly access the Internet. Thus, the service method provides the URL web contents to the mobile terminal when there is a request for URL information from a mobile terminal supporting no WAP standard for URL information which does not exist in the URL memory.

The packet data service system includes a packet router for providing originating or terminating traffic paths for a plurality of mobile stations and managing particulars of an event whenever the event is produced in the mobile stations, and an interworking function device for controlling the packet router to interwork with another network.

Abstract: A rate matching method is provided for a mobile communication system that performs an adjustment to a code rate based on an optimal level by puncturing or repetition to respective bit streams of transport channels. The rate matching method is preferably applicable to uplink and downlink rate matching for channel coding including turbo coding, convolutional coding and the like. The rate matching method for uplink can include executing coding for bits of a transport channel, and branching off the bits into a plurality of sequences, constructing a first interleaving pattern for the plurality of sequences, constructing a virtual interleaving pattern for at least one sequence based on a mapping rule with a corresponding first interleaving pattern and calculating different bit shifting values in each column of each virtual interleaving pattern. Then, a bit position to be punctured is determined in each constructed virtual interleaving pattern using the calculated bit shifting values.

According to the time slot structure of a frame in down-link and up-link channels provided between a base station and a wireless terminal in the present invention, at least one macro-slot section is provided which comprises a static TDD section wherein at least one down-link slot and up-link slot are alternately and repeatedly arranged and a dynamic TDD section wherein the arrangement of the down-link slots and the up-link slots are varied in accordance with traffic amounts in each links for a predetermined time and the characteristic of a transmitted signal in each links.

Abstract: A method of allocating optimum orthogonal function codes to a reverse link in a communication system which has one base station and a plurality of mobile stations, comprising the first step of detecting characteristics of reverse channels from a desired one of the mobile stations to the base station, the second step of obtaining an orthogonal function code based on the detected characteristics of the reverse channels, and the third step of allocating the obtained orthogonal function code to the desired mobile station. According to the present invention, optimum Walsh codes are allocated for distinction between mobile station signals of the reverse link to minimize an interference between mobile stations in a CDMA communication system. Therefore, an inter-mobile station interference through a multipath can be minimized to significantly enhance a signal-to-noise ratio of the reverse link.

Abstract: An apparatus for managing traffic of an ATM switching system is provided which separates and stores an input ATM cell as a header part and a data part. A traffic control memory stores an input coefficient value of an ATM cell and a traffic parameter contracted when a call was established, and a traffic control unit determines if the ATM cell conforms with the contract. And, the traffic parameter of the ATM cell and a GCRA parameter stored in the traffic control memory are compared in the discriminated conformance type, thereby performing the traffic management operation such as tagging, discarding and policing for the ATM cell. Accordingly, since various conformance definitions can be supported for the input ATM cell, an effective traffic management function can be obtained.
