Abstract: Distributed systems, controllers and methods for processing information from a plurality of devices are provided. A distributed system includes a plurality of devices distributed in an environment. Each device has at least a communication capability for interchanging information with others of the devices and/or with a communication system. Each of at least some of the devices has one or more sensors for acquiring sensor data related to the environment proximate to the device. At least one of the communication system or one or more of the devices is configured as a controller configured to: select a subset of devices from among the plurality of devices, receive information based on the acquired sensor data of the selected subset, and combine the received information from the selected subset to determine a characteristic of the environment proximate to one or more of the devices.

Signal information for nearby devices can be detected and analyzed to determine device configuration settings.

Abstract: Non-limiting examples described herein relate to representation of intelligent object movement. Examples described herein replace pre-canned object movement actions and provide new data transformations that better emphasize context related to object movement. An action for placement of a data object may be received. Non-limiting examples of actions comprise a movement of a data object or an object insertion of one or more data objects. The action is analyzed using an object movement data model that evaluates a context for placement of the data object. Insertion characteristics are applied to the data object based on analysis by the object movement data model. A movement of the data object is surfaced, through a user interface, based on the applied insertion characteristics. An exemplary surfaced movement presents a motion animation of the data object from an initial position within the digital canvas to a resting position within the digital canvas.

Abstract: A storage system comprises a plurality of storage nodes each comprising one or more storage devices. Each of the storage nodes further comprises a processor coupled to a memory. The storage system is configured to prefill a given stripe across multiple ones of the storage devices with data blocks to a first fullness level, to designate at least a subset of the prefilled data blocks of the stripe as available for use in prefilling one or more logical storage volumes of the storage system, and to prefill a given one of the logical storage volumes to a second fullness level utilizing selected ones of the available data blocks. The given stripe across multiple ones of the storage devices illustratively comprises a RAID stripe.

For example, a waste profile may be generated, based upon inputs received from a first device via a profile interface of a waste data aggregation platform. An approval notice may be received, via an approval interface of the waste data aggregation platform, from a second device. Shipping information may be entered into a plurality of digital forms of a shipping documentation interface based upon the waste profile and/or one or more inputs received from the first device and/or the second device. A shipping order for shipment of the waste may be generated. One or more notifications corresponding to the shipment of the waste may be transmitted to one or more devices associated with the shipment. The waste profile may be analyzed to generate a risk report, a sustainability report, a landfill report, a raw material source report, etc.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a cell harvesting instrument suitable for concentrating cells from a source suspension of cells and/or washing said cells, the instrument comprising: a housing for accommodating mechanical elements including at least one fluid pump, at least one valve; and a processing kit removably insertable into the housing, said kit including a generally flat frame having or supporting plural sealed fluid paths arranged in a generally flat plane and such that fluids in the paths do not contact said mechanical elements, wherein at least portions of the fluid paths comprise flexible tubes, the outer surfaces of which are manipulateable by the or each fluid pump, to provide fluid flow in one or more of the paths and/or by the or each valve to restrict fluid flow in one or more of the paths. In an embodiment, the kit comprises also a fluid processing reservoir and a filter suitable for separating cells from fluid in said paths.

Abstract: This invention relates to nonferrous metallurgy, in particular to a device and method for electrolyte composition analysis based on differential thermal measurements for aluminum electrolysis control. The device is comprised of a metal body including a reference material and an electrolyte sample receptacle, temperature sensors immersed into the reference material and in an electrolyte sample, a system for registration, data processing, and visualization of obtained results. A method includes immersing a metal body into an electrolyte; filling a receptacles with the molten electrolyte; removing and cooling down the metal body having the filled receptacle above a crust on the molten electrolyte surface; drawing and analyzing differential-thermal curves based on which the liquidus temperature, electrolyte superheating and phase and blend compositions of electrolyte solid samples are determined taking into account all crystallizing phases the content of which in the electrolyte sample is no less than 3 wt %.

Abstract: A blood pump system is implantable in a patient for ventricular support. A pumping chamber has an inlet for receiving blood from a ventricle of the patient. An impeller is received in the pumping chamber. A motor is coupled to the impeller for driving rotation of the impeller. A motor controller is provided for tracking systolic and diastolic phases of a cardiac cycle of the patient and supplying a variable voltage signal to the motor in a variable speed mode to produce a variable impeller speed linked to the cardiac cycle. The impeller speed comprises a ramping up to an elevated speed during the diastolic phase in order to reduce a load on the ventricle at the beginning of the systolic phase.

The platform determines, using a second model, potential modifications to a document based on the selected set of transactions, where the second model receives the information identifying the selected set of transactions or information identifying the event, the theme, or the transaction parameter, and where the second model outputs information identifying the potential modifications.

Abstract: A wireless communication system includes frequency reuse between terminals in common coverage regions using a multiple satellite architecture with spatial diversity. Different terminals may be associated with different ones of the satellites such that a common frequency can be reused by the different terminals. A gateway may communicate with a first satellite using a feeder beam having an overlapping geographic coverage region with a user beam used for communication between a set of user terminals and a second satellite. Spatial diversity is provided between the satellites, and the feeder beam and the user beam operate at common frequencies within the overlapping coverage region. In this manner, the bandwidth of both satellites at the common coverage region is used to increase the available capacity.

Abstract: A design and construction method for a Collapsible Cryogenic Storage Vessel can be used for storing cryogenic liquids. The vessel provides the ability to be packed for transport in a compact state and erected at the point of use. The vessel can be used multiple times. The vessel's volume can also be adjusted during use to minimize or eliminate head space in the vessel.

Abstract: A method of controlling residual coding for decoding or encoding of a video sequence, is performed by at least one processor and includes, based on a multiple transform selection (MTS) index indicating that a transform skip mode is enabled for a coded block of the video sequence, identifying an identity transform as each of a horizontal transform and a vertical transform. The method further includes, based on the MTS index indicating that the transform skip mode is not enabled for the coded block, identifying one of a discrete cosine transform (DCT), a discrete sine transform (DST), a Hadamard transform and a Haar transform, as either one or both of the horizontal transform and the vertical transform. The method further includes performing the residual coding of the coded block, using the identified horizontal transform and the identified vertical transform.

Abstract: A battery system has a cell, a substrate mounted on the cell, and monitoring circuitry on the substrate and exclusively powered by the cell. The battery system also has a switch on the substrate electrically between the cell and monitoring circuit, and control circuitry on the substrate. The control circuitry, responsive to a value of a parameter of the cell measured by the monitoring circuitry falling outside a predefined range, opens the switch to electrically disconnect the monitoring circuit from the cell.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for conducting a Service Call in a structure using orienteering methods. The AVM may assist in determining whether or when equipment needs repair and can automatically call a service technician. By referencing the AVM on a smart device, the technician can quickly and easily locate the equipment to be repaired. Additionally, the data contained within the AVM may provide valuable clues to solving any service-related problem. Technical walkthroughs may also be displayed on the service technician's smart device.

Abstract: Systems and methods of determining a geographic location based conversion via a computer network. A data processing system can receive, from a computing device, an indication of interest in an online content item that is associated with a commercial entity having a location. The system can also receive data points that each include time information and location information of a computing device. The system can generate a valid cluster indicating an activity at the location of the commercial entity by evaluating the time information and the location information of two or more data points with a duration threshold and a location threshold. The system can use the valid cluster to identify the indication of interest in the online content item as the location based conversion based on the activity at the location of the commercial entity.
