Abstract: The present invention relates generally to agriculture and irrigation of plants. A watering system comprising a master unit and one or more node units are able to carry out bidirectional communication via a power control bus, which may be a coaxial cable. The power control bus provides power and data communication to one or more node units. The one or more node units are configured to receive, carry out actions, or respond to queries from a master unit. Actions that may be taken by one or more node units may include the operation of irrigation valves and query of data related to moisture or other chemistry of a plant growing soil. A master unit may connect to an internet cloud via Wifi or other communication method, wherein a watering system of the present invention may be operable based on at least one data from an internet cloud.

Abstract: Reduction or elimination of negative consequences of reflected stray light from lens surfaces is achieved by propagating a laser beam through an eccentric pupil that excludes the optical axis of the system, which is rotationally symmetric. In such systems, stray light reflections eventually are focused onto the unique optical axis of the system, in either a real or virtual focal region. By using an eccentric pupil, all damage due to focusing of the stray light lies outside of the beam. These focal regions can, e.g., be physically blocked to eliminate beam paths that lead to optical damage, re-pulse beams and parasitic lasing.

Abstract: A spacer grid specifically designed for accident tolerant fuel utilizing fuel rods with SiC cladding for implementation in pressurized water reactors. The spacer grid tubular generally square design allows for ease of SiC fuel rod insertion during the fuel assembly fabrication process by providing a smooth contact geometry. The co-planar vertically oriented support allows the fuel rods to be rotated axially more freely at the grid location than a conventional six-point contact geometry used in existing fuel assembly designs. Since the SiC fuel rod has higher stiffness than a metallic fuel rod, the six-point contact geometry, which consists of two spring and four dimples, can potentially damage the fuel rod in the event of fuel rod deflection induced by a seismic event or a bowed fuel assembly. The fuel rod support cells are attached at their corners which are shared between adjacent support cells.

Abstract: A method for parallel processing of a data stream is provided. In the method, a processing task is received. The processing task is configured to process a data stream that includes a plurality of segments. A split operation is subsequently performed on the data stream to split the plurality of segments into N sub-streams, where each of the N sub-streams includes one or more segments of the plurality of segments, and the N is a positive integer. Further, N sub-processing tasks are performed on the N sub-streams to generate N processed sub-streams. A merge operation is performed on the N processed sub-streams to generate a merged output data stream. The merged output data stream is identical to an output data steam that is generated when the processing task is applied directly to the data stream without the split operation.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments described in this disclosure are generally directed to using a vehicle to provide building security. In one exemplary embodiment, a computer that is provided in a vehicle is communicatively coupled to various sensors included in an anti-theft security system of the vehicle. The computer automatically activates a building security procedure upon determining that the vehicle has entered, or is located inside, a geofence of a residence. The sensors are configured to detect a security event that may take place near the residence. For example, a motion sensor may be used to detect a burglar approaching the residence or a sound detector may be used to detect shattering of a glass window of the residence. Abstract: Some implementations related to archiving of functional images. In some implementations, a method includes accessing images and determining one or more functional labels corresponding to each of the images and one or more confidence scores corresponding to the functional labels. A functional image score is determined for each of the images based on the functional labels having a corresponding confidence score that meets a respective threshold for the functional labels. In response to determining that the functional image score meets a functional image score threshold, a functional image signal is provided that indicates that one or more of the images that meet the functional image score threshold are functional images. The functional images are determined to be archived, and are archived by associating an archive attribute with the functional images such that functional images having the archive attribute are excluded from display in views of the images.
