Abstract: A method is presented for treating herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection comprising: (a) locally administering a substance that induces a delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) response to a patient at a site of an HSV lesion to induce a DTH response at the site of the lesion during one or more outbreaks of the HSV infection.
Abstract: The invention provides methods for identifying regenerated transformed plants and differentiated transformed plant parts, obtained without subjecting plant cells to selective conditions prior to regenerating the cells to obtain differentiated tissues. In particular embodiments, the plant cells are corn plant cells. Methods for growing and handling plants, including identifying plants that demonstrate specific traits of interest are also provided.
Abstract: An optical device (e.g., a pupil expander) includes a waveguide with a slanted facet. The optical device includes a reflector on the slanted facet and a prism, or a grating at the slanted facet. The prism or the grating compensates for the dispersion of an image light from a display, which reduces smearing of displayed images. The waveguide can be configured for pupil replication in one-dimension or two-dimensions.
Abstract: A system for contextual loading of operating system is described. A context module forms a dynamic context of a user log in at a host. The context mapper identifies a container corresponding to the dynamic context and determines whether the container is present in a local container cache of the host. In response to the container being present in the local container cache, the container is presented at the host. In response to the container being absent from the local container cache, the container is retrieved from a container store and presented at the host.
Abstract: The disclosure is related to a data management platform (“platform”) for providing a secure storage environment for digital contents associated with a user. The platform may be accessible via an app installed on a user device, which allows the user to upload, modify, and view digital contents. Because a digital content is mapped to a universal scaffold in a structured format, the platform can organize and display the digital contents in meaningful ways. The digital contents can be hosted on a remote server. The platform provides zero-knowledge encryption so that the digital contents stored at the server are secure, as in one cannot know the contents of the encrypted information stored at the server. The platform also facilitates zero-knowledge offers in which offers are sent to multiple users but the server does not know to which users the offers are presented until an offer is accepted by the user.

Abstract: A disambiguation system for an autonomous vehicle is described herein that disambiguates a traffic light framed by a plurality of regions of interest. The autonomous vehicle includes a localization system that defines the plurality of regions of interest around traffic lights captured in a sensor signal and provides an input to a disambiguation system. When the captured traffic lights are in close proximity, the plurality of regions of interest overlap each other such that a traffic light disposed in the overlapping region is ambiguous to an object detector because it is framed by more than one region of interest. A disambiguation system associates the traffic light with the correct region of interest to disambiguate a relationship thereof and generates a disambiguated directive for controlling the autonomous vehicle. Disambiguation can be achieved according to any of an edge-based technique, a vertex-based technique, and a region of interest distance-based technique.
Abstract: The back reflection in photodiodes is caused by an abrupt index contrast between the input waveguide and the composite waveguide/light absorbing material. In order to improve the back reflection, it is proposed to introduce an angle between the waveguide and the leading edge of the light absorbing material. The angle will result in gradually changing the effective index between the index of the waveguide and the index of the composite section, and consequently lower the amount of light reflecting back.

Abstract: A pupil-replicating waveguide suitable for operation with a coherent light source is disclosed. A waveguide body has opposed surfaces for guiding a beam of image light. An out-coupling element is disposed in an optical path of the beam for out-coupling portions of the beam at a plurality of spaced apart locations along the optical path. Electrodes are coupled to at least a portion of the waveguide body for modulating an optical path length of the optical path of the beam to create time-varying phase delays between the portions of the beam out-coupled by the out-coupling element.

Abstract: There is provided a computer-implemented method for generating verified software application tests, the method comprising: acquiring a computer readable model representing a functionality of a software application to be tested; generating, based at least partly on the model, a test template for generating a plurality of verified software application tests, the test template comprising a plurality of data input fields for data values and defining data value constraints for the data values; obtaining user data input regarding a data input field; determining whether said user data input defines a data value of the data input field according to the data value constraints; in response to determining that said user data input does not define a data value according to the data value constraints, adjusting one or more data values of the test template such that said data value constraints are met; and generating, based on the test template, at least one software application test meeting the data value constraints.
Abstract: Embodiments can identify requests that may be tied to a DDOS attack. For example, the primary identifiers (e.g., a source address) of requests for a network resource (e.g., an entire website or a particular element of the website) can be tracked. In one embodiment, a statistical analysis of how often a particular source address (or other primary identifier) normally makes a request can be used to identify source addresses that make substantially more requests. A normal amount can correspond to an average number of request that a source address makes. According to some embodiments, a system can use statistical analysis methods on various request data in web server logs to identify potential attacks and send data concerned potential attacks to an HBA system for further analysis.
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for operating an engine that includes a knock control system that may determine contributions of individual noise sources to an engine background noise level. The contributions of the individual noise sources may be the basis for establishing the presence or absence of knock in one or more engine cylinders.

Abstract: Apparatus for reconstructing a ligament, the apparatus comprising a fixation device for maintaining a graft ligament in a bone hole, the fixation device comprising a fixation screw comprising a body having screw threads formed thereon; and a ligament spacer mounted to the fixation screw, the ligament spacer comprising a canted face disposed opposite the fixation screw; such that the fixation screw and ligament spacer may be advanced into the bone hole with the graft ligament so that the fixation screw and the ligament spacer maintain the graft ligament within the bone hole and the canted face of the ligament spacer is aligned with the adjacent surface of the bone.
Abstract: An electronic candle produces light using light emitting diodes (LEDs) or other electronic sources of light, rather than a flame, and is intended to operate the LEDs in a fashion that simulates a burning candle. The electronic candle includes a base and LEDs within a bulb and surrounded by a dome to provide a diffusing effect for light generated within the electronic candle. A memory accessible by a processor contains stored programming instructions causing the LEDs to illuminate under control of the processor, in accordance with particular modes of operation, varying from one mode to another after brief periods of time and in a random way. Each mode defines an apparent flame position having a radial position, angular position, and intensity of the simulated flame.

Abstract: A programmable polarity module that permits rapid on-demand control of the polarities assigned to the welding electrodes retained on a welding gun is disclosed. The programmable polarity module is electrically connectable to the welding gun and a direct current power supply unit to provide direct current to the welding electrodes for exchange during spot welding. A first interchangeable polarity output lug and a second interchangeable polarity output lug of the programmable polarity module permit the polarities of the welding electrodes to be switched without having to electrically disconnect the module from the welding gun.
