Abstract: A micro-light emitting diode includes a semiconductor mesa structure that includes at least a portion of an n-type semiconductor layer, an active region configured to emit visible light, and a p-type semiconductor layer. The micro-LED device also includes an insulator layer that includes an undoped semiconductor passivation layer grown on sidewalls of the semiconductor mesa structure, and a dielectric passivation layer characterized by a refractive index lower than a refractive index of the undoped semiconductor passivation layer. The micro-LED device further includes a reflective metal layer deposited on the dielectric passivation layer, and a micro-lens configured to collimate the visible light emitted by the active region, where a ratio between a width of the micro-lens and a width of the active region may be greater than about 1.5.

Abstract: Systems and methods are directed to a modified device configuration for disposing a NFC compatible user card within a NFC field of a user mobile device so as to enable continuous proximity monitoring based on a status of an NFC link established between the card and the mobile device. The modified device configuration may be utilized to implement card tracking functionality by using a mobile application, running on the mobile device, to generate a timestamp upon detection of change in a connectivity status of the NFC link to the card. The timestamp NFC connectivity data may then be paired with mobile device GPS coordinates, concurrently retrieved from one or more mobile GPS-based navigation applications, to facilitate card tracking functionality as well as multi-factor validation for electronic transactions initiated by the NFC compatible card and/or the mobile device.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for providing navigation assistance using eye gaze of a user. An example method provides assistive navigation in a video game. The method includes receiving input from a user device during a gameplay session of the video game. The method further includes capturing eye gaze of the user during the gameplay to identify a region of a scene of the video game associated with said eye gaze. Then, activating gaze navigation to move a focus of the scene to the region identified using the captured eye gaze. The gaze navigation is triggered automatically without said input from the user device.

Abstract: A modularized spinnerbait rig includes an embedded fork system to change a spinnerbait head in real time and includes a pivoting assembly to cause the spinnerbait head to pivot.

Abstract: A vehicular display that contains a sparse array of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), system, and method of fabrication are disclosed. The vehicular display includes at least one tile disposed in a vehicle to provide a display of internal and external information. Each tile has a transparent flexible substrate, a sparse array of LEDs disposed on the transparent flexible substrate, a rigid substrate adhered to the transparent flexible substrate via an adhesive layer in which the sparse array of LEDs is encapsulated, and a driver disposed on an edge of the tile and configured to drive the LEDs. The LEDs are sparse enough to enable information to be displayed through a vehicle window while still enabling a viewer to see through the window.

Abstract: Alkylene carbonates are removed from polyether-carbonate polymers by contacting the polyether-carbonate with an absorbent at a temperature of 30 to 150° C. The process is effective and inexpensive. The purified polyether-carbonate is useful for making polyurethanes as well as in many other applications.

Abstract: Compositions and methods are provided for stacking multiple independent transgenic loci into the genome of a plant. Compositions include plants, seeds or plant cells comprising at least one transgenic target site and at least one genomic locus of interest integrated at different genomic sites within a genomic window. Plant breeding techniques can be employed such that the transgenic target site and the genomic locus of interest can be bred together. In this way, multiple independent transgene integrations can be generated within a genomic window to create a complex trait locus. The complex trait locus is designed such that the transgenic target sites and/or genomic loci of interest can segregate independently of each other, thus providing the benefit of altering a complex trait locus by breeding-in and breeding-away specific elements. Various methods can also be employed to modify the target sites such that they contain a variety of polynucleotides of interest.

Abstract: Herein disclosed is a mobile golf simulation system, more particularly, a double-bayed golf simulator apparatus mounted to a wheeled trailer that may be readily transported and deployed to remote, particularly outdoor locations. The mobile golf simulation system of the present invention is uniquely designed to include a projection system installed beneath a floating floor that, along with right and left drop-down walls, allows for the creation of an open air platform from which a user may play a realistic form of virtual golf, hitting his ball into a built-in screen.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for providing local business-based recommendations or search results to visitors. In response to a request for a digital map of a geographic area, the system determines whether a user is familiar with the geographic area based on the user's location history. In response to determining that the user is unfamiliar with the geographic area and therefore is a visitor of the geographic area, the system provides recommendations, suggestions, or search results to the user which includes local businesses which are of interest to the user. The local businesses may include local businesses which are related to a geographic search query provided by the user, or may include local businesses recommended by the system according to the time of day, time of year, events within the geographic area such as events stored in the user's virtual calendar, reviews of the local businesses, etc.

Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method may include acquiring, from a client device within a real-world environment, information representative of the real-world environment, and transmitting the information representative of the real-world environment to a relocalization service. The method may further include receiving, from the relocalization service, (1) an anchor point that may include a mapped position within the real-world environment, and (2) a determined position within the real-world environment of a client device relative to the mapped position of the anchor point. The method may further include sending an identifier of the anchor point to an asset management service, and obtaining, from the asset management service, a digital asset. The method may further include presenting the digital asset at a position within an artificial environment relative to the mapped position of the anchor point. Abstract: In some examples, there is provided a method for a storage controller to receive a request to write data at a virtual location, writing data at the next free physical location in sequence, writing metadata correlating the virtual location with the physical location at the physical location, and writing a counter at the physical location. The recorded metadata can be used to re-construct the mapping between a given physical location and its corresponding virtual location if the virtual block address is somehow lost. The recorded counter can be used to determine the most recently recorded mapping between the virtual location and physical location, thereby resolving any discrepancies between earlier recorded metadata.

Abstract: A virtual computing services deployment network provides a consistent user experience from a variety of locations via a connection fabric for accessing a virtual desktop. The connection fabric identifies a user profile defining the virtualized desktop resources required for a particular user. The connection fabric includes distributed data and processing in nodes distributed throughout a public access network accessible from a user access device. Each of the fabric nodes is operable to provide an identifier (such as an IP address) of a computing resource adapted to provide the user specific desktop. A user access device accesses a local fabric node in the connection fabric, and the fabric node determines a computing resource matching a user profile of expected computing resources. The fabric node associates the user access device with the computing resource and sends the user access device an identifier for directly accessing the computing resource.

Abstract: An improved adaptive stabilizer bar is provided. The stabilizer bar includes a cycloidal drive between first and second portions of a divided torsion bar. The cycloidal drive includes a cycloidal gear assembly that provides a significant mechanical advantage, allowing relatively small electric motors to be used. In addition, the cycloidal gear assembly has a relatively small physical footprint, particularly when compared to a planetary gear assembly, for example.

Abstract: A system and method for mitigating anomalies in a network device. One or a combination of mitigation actions may be pre-programmed into a plurality of customer premises equipment (CPE) devices. The mitigation actions may be available as temporary or permanent work arounds as problems are detected that match known or discovered patterns of log events. Unsupervised machine learning techniques may be used to identify and correlate new patterns of log events with device anomalies or malfunctions. When a new pattern of log events is discovered and correlated to an anomaly or malfunction in a group of CPE devices, the discovered pattern may be written to the group of CPE devices with instructions to use particular ones of the mitigation actions. The CPE devices can then, in examples, monitor their own logs to detect the patterns and implement one or more of the mitigation actions.

Abstract: A method for controlling a vehicle transmission system having a clutch system includes generating a torque-pressure (T-P) gain deviation based on a T-F characteristic and a nominal T-F characteristic for the clutch system, generating a pressure magnitude deviation based on the set of pressure values and the set of nominal pressure values, determining whether a T-F characteristic deviates from the nominal T-F characteristic based on the T-P gain deviation and the pressure magnitude deviation, identifying the T-F characteristic as deviating in response to the T-F characteristic departing from the nominal transfer characteristic, and issuing a notification regarding the deviating T-F characteristic to perform a corrective action related to the clutch system.
