Abstract: Systems and methods for managing a network are disclosed. A beacon may be transmitted at a first modulation rate less than a second modulation rate used to transmit data. A signal characteristic may be received from a user device. The user device may be connected to the network in response to the signal characteristic satisfying a threshold. Data may be transmitted to the user device at the second modulation rate.
Abstract: An exemplary ring lock generally includes a case, a shackle, and a lock mechanism. The shackle is movably mounted to the case. The lock mechanism is operable to selectively retain the shackle in a closed position. The case includes a first case portion including a first flange, and a second case portion including a second flange. In certain forms, the first flange and the second flange are welded to one another. In certain forms, the first flange and/or the second flange has a depth of one centimeter or less. In certain forms, the case includes at least one ramp configured to discourage gripping of the case.

Abstract: Embodiments of golf club heads, golf clubs, and methods to manufacture golf club heads and golf clubs are generally described herein. Abstract: Techniques and mechanisms described herein facilitate providing dynamic digital object placement in a video stream. An exchange network for engagements within video streaming content is maintained, and a number of engagement entities and content providers are connected to the exchange network. An engagement proposal is received from an engagement entity in the exchange network, containing media assets for an engagement and proposed engagement information. Content provider requirements are also received from a content provider in the exchange network, containing content provider requirements and one or more engagement surfaces associated with a video stream. The exchange network determines that the received engagement proposal matches the received content provider requirements.
Abstract: A computer-implemented method comprises receiving, by an image processing system, a depth image captured by a stereo camera on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). One or more pixels of the depth image are associated with corresponding depth values indicative of distances of one or more objects to the stereo camera. The image processing system determines that one or more pixels of the depth image are associated with invalid depth values. The image processing system infers, based on a distribution of the one or more pixels of the depth image that are associated with invalid depth values, a presence of a potential obstacle in an environment of the UAV. The UAV is controlled based on the inferred presence of the potential obstacle.

Abstract: Embodiments discloses herein relate to methods of processing coal. A method to process coal includes subjecting raw coal to a liquefaction process effective to form a liquid pitch resin and subjecting the liquid pitch resin to a filtration process. The method further includes subjecting the liquid pitch resin to a low crystallinity spinning process to form a raw fiber. The raw fiber is then further subjected to a stabilization process configured to oxygen cross-link the fiber to form a stabilized fiber and then subjecting the stabilized fiber to a carbonization process to form a low thermal conductivity carbon fiber.
Abstract: This disclosure provides for host-controller cooperation in managing NAND flash memory. The controller maintains information for each erase unit which tracks memory usage. This information assists the host in making decisions about specific operations, for example, initiating garbage collection, space reclamation, wear leveling or other operations. For example, metadata can be provided to the host identifying whether each page of an erase unit has been released, and the host can specifically then command each of consolidation and erase using direct addressing. By redefining host-controller responsibilities in this manner, much of the overhead association with FTL functions can be substantially removed from the memory controller, with the host directly specifying physical addresses. This reduces performance unpredictability and overhead, thereby facilitating integration of solid state drives (SSDs) with other forms of storage.
