Abstract: A compact system for performing laser ophthalmic surgery is disclosed. An embodiment of the system includes a mode-locked fiber oscillator-based ultra-short pulsed laser capable of producing laser pulses in the range of 1 nJ to 5 ?J at a pulse repetition rate of between 5 MHz and 25 MHz, a resonant optical scanner oscillating at a frequency of 200 Hz and 21000 Hz, a scan-line rotator, a movable XY-scan device, a z-scan device, and a controller configured to coordinate with the other components of the system to produce one or more desired incision patterns. The system also includes compact visualization optics for in-process monitoring using a beam-splitter inside the cone of a patient interface used to fixate the patient's eye during surgery. The system can be configured such that eye surgery is performed while the patient is either sitting upright, or lying on his or her back.

Abstract: Implementations are provided for improved robot reachability maps. Multiple reachability maps for a robot may be indexed on a distance of an end effector from a plane and a tilt of the end effector. Each reachability map may include multiple cells, each representing a base pose of the robot. A target pose of the end effector may be used to determine a target distance/tilt, which is used to select a given reachability map. A given cell of the given reachability map may be used to determine a first candidate set of joint parameters for the robot. In some implementations, one or more additional, neighboring cells of the plurality of cells may be used to determine additional candidate set(s) of joint parameters. A given set of joint parameters to be implemented to achieve the target pose of the end effector may be selected and used to operate the robot.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein include an amusement park system that includes an augmented experience system. The augmented experience system is configured to track guest interactions of a plurality of guests of an amusement park with one or more employees of the amusement park, one or more mobile devices, one or more wearable devices, one or more themed devices, or one or more physical objects disposed within a real-world environment of the amusement park. The augmented experience system is also configured to augment the real-world environment of the amusement park based at least in part on data relating to the guest interactions.

Abstract: Encircled flux compliant test apparatus are provided. A test apparatus includes an optical connector, and a light source, the light source operable to emit encircled flux compliant light. The test apparatus further includes a first collimator, and a beam splitter optically aligned with the first collimator. The test apparatus further includes a first optical fiber pigtail connected to the light source, and a second optical fiber pigtail connected between the optical connector and the first collimator. A first portion of the light emitted by the light source is transmitted from the first optical fiber pigtail by the beam splitter and first collimator to the second optical fiber pigtail, and from the second optical fiber pigtail to the optical connector.

The system may determine a stress pattern based on user-defined criteria including an auditory file of a melody, and use the determined stress pattern to generate a plurality of matching phrases that include the same stress pattern.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and devices for task-related sorting, application discovery, and unified bookmarking for application managers. Through use of an application manager, multiple applications (including standalone applications, instant applications, websites, and other content) that a person can use to accomplish a single task, or multiple related tasks, are sorted into discrete groups for display in the application manager. The application manager can automatically recognize relationships between activities performed with the applications and recognize user actions with the applications that are related to the activities. Based on the relationships and user actions, the application manager can automatically determine that the activities and actions represent a task and display a task group that includes the applications that represent the task.

Abstract: A system and method for detection of cells is disclosed. Target cells, such as circulating tumor cells (CTCs), may be of interest. Magnetic beads may be bound to the target cells. After which, the target cells (with the magnetic beads attached thereto) may be identified using an applied magnetic field. In one example, magnetic sensors may be used to detect movement of the target cells responsive to an applied magnetic field. In another example, an optical sensor (such as a camera) may be used to detect movement of the target cells responsive to an applied magnetic field. Further, separate from identification of the target cells, the target cells may be sorted using an applied magnetic field. In this way, a magnetic field may be used in either or both of target cell identification or target cell sorting in order to detect target cells of interest.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for using a server to generate per-user manifest files for providing unique viewing experiences and proxy modules local to video players receiving the manifest files for measuring video playback events with frame accuracy is disclosed. In one aspect, a server may be used to generate a manifest file for directing a video player to play requested video content in a video stream with advertising or other alternative content which may be desired. A proxy module local to the video player may parse the video stream to inject triggers at frame accurate locations which may be desired for measuring, such as at a precise frame in which the alternative content starts, stops, and/or reaches a midpoint with respect to the requested video content.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure can provide an automated mass rearing system for insect larvae. The automated mass rearing system can facilitate hatching, feeding, monitoring the growth and emergence of insect larvae and pupae. In some embodiments, the automated mass rearing system can include a production unit, a transportation unit, a storage unit, a dispensing unit, and a monitoring unit. In some embodiments, this automated mass rearing system can facilitate mass mosquito growth from egg hatching all the way through to full adults or certain stages in between such as the larvae rearing process (i.e., from larvae to pupae) with little or no human intervention. By automating the rearing and transportation of insect eggs, larvae, and pupae, deaths or developmental issues can be minimized. Various techniques and apparatuses are used in this automation that causes minimal disturbance to the insects during development, and thereby maximizing survival rate and fitness of the insects.

In certain instances, at least one of the cams comprises a leading projection and a trailing projection positioned behind the leading projection which are configured to engage the same jaw. In some instances, one or more of the cams has a plastically deformable or wearable feature configured to facilitate multiple uses of the surgical instrument.
