Abstract: An optical coupler is described herein. The optical coupler includes at least one optical coupler unit. The at least one optical coupler includes an optical coupler entrance face and an optical coupler exit face. The optical coupler entrance face is configured to face, and receive light emitted by, at least one LED during operation. The optical coupler exit face is shaped as a Fresnel lens with a focal point at or behind a light emitting area of the at least one LED and is configured to face a lightguide entrance face of a slab lightguide. The optical coupler exit face has dimensions that match at least a part of the lightguide entrance face. The optical coupler entrance and exit faces are configured to refract light emitted by the at least one LED during operation.
Abstract: Distributed appending of transactions in data lakes is described. A first message is received, at a first ingestion node of a plurality of ingestion nodes, as part of a transaction. The first message identifies a transaction identifier (ID) and a portion of data for the transaction. The data of the first message is persisted in temporary storage. A count of messages for the transaction for the first ingestion node is determined. Based on at least the count of messages, it is determined that the first ingestion node has received a complete set of messages for the transaction for the first ingestion node. A metadata write request is transmitted, by the first ingestion node, to a coordinator. The metadata write request includes a self-describing reference to persisted data. The self-describing reference identifies the first ingestion node, location information of the persisted data, and a range of the first data.

Abstract: Implementations described herein are related to a semiconductor device package having an improved baseplate. In such an improved baseplate, there is a recess cut out of a region of a surface of the baseplate such that the recess has a first sidewall having a first thickness above a recess base and a second sidewall having a second thickness above the recess base. A substrate, e.g., a direct bonded copper (DBC) substrate, may be attached to the baseplate at a recess base using, e.g., a solder layer between the recess base and a surface of the substrate.
Abstract: The present disclosure describes various aspects of crank-based lighting, which may improve visibility of pedal-based vehicles or conveyances. In some aspects, a light generating apparatus includes a crank interface and lighting system. The crank interface may facilitate mounting of the apparatus to a crank (or crankarm) of a bicycle or other pedal-based vehicle. The lighting system may generate or emit light based on information indicating an angle, movement, and/or position of the crank, such as to cause light emission to emulate or project leg movement of a rider.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing context-aware selection and recommendation of applications and services on a mobile device. The selection of the preferred applications is based on the context of the user and the context of the applications. A comparison engine related to a recommendation module performs a similarity computation between context attribute vectors of the user and the applications. Based on the similarity computation, a rank-order is produced that determines in what order the application icons should be presented to the user. A digital wallet is also disclosed that maintains the reward points awarded to the user as crypto/virtual tokens based on the instant principles. Unlike prevailing techniques, the reward points are awarded in a context-aware manner after reconciling the conflicting or contradictory usage habits of the user.

Abstract: A method and system for enriching bid requests for real-time bidding on a digital advertisement placement are provided. The method comprises processing a received bid request to extract at least one data point, wherein the bid request is received from a website requesting placement of a digital advertisement; causing generation of at least one enriched data point based on the at least one extracted data point; and associating the at least one enriched data point with the received bid request to allow a refined real-time bidding on a placement of a digital advertisement in a webpage of the website in response to the bid on the received bid request.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for privacy-preserving cross-domain experiment monitoring are described. In one aspect, a method includes receiving, by a first server of a MPC system, a request for digital content including a first secret share of an application instance identifier that identifies the application instance associated with the device. The first server conducts, in collaboration with a second server of the secure MPC system, a privacy-preserving selection process to select a winning digital component from a set of digital components. Each digital component has a corresponding unique experiment identifier and unique control identifier. A first secret share representing the winning digital component is generated. A response is generated and includes the first secret share of the selection result and data representing whether the application is in the experiment group or a control group for each digital component.

Abstract: Systems and methods for delegating tasks for a task facilitation service include receiving a delegation indicator for a task and determining a communication policy for the task in response to receiving the delegation indicator. The communication policy generally inhibits communication between the task facilitation service and a member of the service. Generation of proposals for completing delegated tasks and prediction of missing task data are also facilitated by aspects of the task facilitation service.

Abstract: A multilink power converter with reduced winding voltage is disclosed, as well as various applications. In the disclosed embodiments, multiple primary switch modules have their inputs connected in series while using a single transformer winding connected in parallel to the modules' outputs through voltage blocking capacitors. Medium voltage solid-state transformers are presented, including three-phase power converters. Also presented are embodiments utilizing common mode inductors to equalize the currents of the high voltage modules.

Abstract: A linear N×N robotic fiber optic switch is described. Notably, fiber adapters for connecting the input and output fibers are arranged linearly. Moreover, each fiber adaptor is driven by a push-pull mechanism such that it can be positioned to a front, center, or back position, with which the private plane of a fiber port can be separated from the other fiber ports and fiber connection can be configured using a simple linear translation robotic pickup free of interference in a compact space. Furthermore, a large scale fabric switch comprises 3 stages of N linear N×N robotic switches connected using fiber shuffles. Each stage or all three stages can share one robot to reduce cost. Scalability to large port counts may be accomplished proportional to N, the number of ports, rather than N2.
