Abstract: A method of automatically programming a new load control device that replaces an old load control device takes advantage of a remote identification tag (e.g., an RFID tag) located in the vicinity of the old device. The remote identification tag stores an identifier that is representative of a location in which the old device is installed. The method includes the steps of: (1) storing a setting of an old device in a memory of a controller; (2) associating the setting with the identifier of the old device in the memory of the controller; (3) the new device retrieving the identifier from the remote identification tag after the new device is installed in the location of the old device; (4) the new device transmitting the identifier to the controller; and (5) the controller transmitting the setting of the old device to the new device in response to receiving the identifier.

Abstract: Interaction-based ecosystems are presented. Interaction analysis engine analyze media content to derive a set of media features. The engine can then identify one or more interaction objects (e.g., transactions, searches, game play, etc.) based on the set of media features. Relevant interaction objects can then be instantiated as persistent available or active points of interaction readily accessed by a consumer. The consumer need only capture a digital representation of the content via a user device, a smart phone for example. A second set of media features can be derived from the digital representation and the second set of media features can then be used to find the instantiated interactions.

Abstract: This document describes systems and techniques for deriving identity and root keys for embedded systems. In aspects, a boot process and key manager of an embedded system may implement a secure or trusted boot process for embedded systems in which code of next-level boot loader or software image is verified using root keys or other protected information before execution of the boot process is passed to the next stage in the boot process. Alternatively or additionally, the key manager may enable sealing and attestation of various levels of root and identity keys to enable respective verification of software or hardware throughout a life cycle of a device to prevent unauthorized access to protected or private code of an embedded system. By so doing, the described aspects may enable an embedded system with a secure boot process and robust identity and root key management system.

  • Publication number: 20240355400
Abstract: To reduce spikes in the current used during read operations by a system of multiple NAND memory dies operated in parallel, relative delays between the memory dies are introduced before high current sub-operations of the read. The occurrence of the primary current peak in the read operation can depend upon the extent to which a selected memory block is programmed. For example, in a closed block the primary peak occurs when ramping up unselected word lines, while for an open block the primary read peak occurs when the bit lines are charged up. To account for these differences, determining where to introduce relative delays is based on the extent to which a block is programmed. For example, if a block fully or largely closed, delays are introduced before ramping up the unselected word lines, but otherwise adding the delays before charging up bit lines.

Abstract: A video bitstream including a current transform block (TB) in a current picture is received. A context model is determined for a syntax element associated with a transform coefficient level of a first coefficient group (CG) in the current TB based on transform coefficient levels of at least one first neighboring CG of the first CG. The first CG is positioned on a first scanning line. The at least one first neighboring CG is positioned on a second scanning line that is scanned before the first scanning line. The context model is a probability model for a non-separable transform. The first CG is reconstructed based on the transform coefficient level that is determined according to the determined the context model.

Abstract: Methods are provided to prepare a low sulfur fuel from hydrocarbon sources, such as light tight oil and high sulfur fuel oil, often less desired by conventional refiners, who split crude into a wide range of differing products and may prefer presence of wide ranges (C3 or C5 to C20 or higher) of hydrocarbons. These fuels can be produced by separating feeds into untreated and treated streams, and then recombining them. Such fuels can also be formulated by combinations of light, middle and heavy range constituents in a selected manner as claimed. Not only low in sulfur, the fuels of this invention are also low in nitrogen and essentially metals free. Fuel use applications include on-board large marine transport vessels but also on-shore for large land based combustion gas turbines, boilers, fired heaters and transport vehicles and trains.

Abstract: The present document describes techniques for extending battery life after long-term and high-temperature storage. These techniques delay charging of a battery to detect battery conditions and determine whether the battery was exposed to high temperatures while in an idle or low-power state for a long period of time. These techniques include a methodology to relax and refresh an anode surface of the battery, after high-temperature storage, through distinct and tailored discharges prior to beginning a normal charge profile. These techniques can be applied to a wide range of chemistry platforms, which may have kinetic (Li-ion) limitations, to extend the longevity of the battery by reducing lithium plating and capacity degradation caused by long-term, high-temperature storage.
