  • Patent number: 10549228
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure are directed to apparatuses and methods involving filters and detection of operation thereof. As may be consistent with one or more embodiments, an apparatus includes a fixture having mechanical components that hold a filter. Gas flow componentry operates with the fixture to eject particles from the filter by subjecting the filter to gas flow. A flow metering circuit meters the gas flow, and a particulate counter detects the ejected particles.

  • Patent number: 10548697
Abstract: A refillable flosser dispenser including a housing and a cover. The housing can include a dispensing body, a door attached to the dispensing body, and a multi-state actuator structured to alternate between compressed and extended positions. The interior space created by the dispensing body and the door is structured and configured to house flossers in a stacked orientation. The cover can include an open bottom and can fit over and around the housing, the cover having an interior shape larger than an exterior shape of the housing. By pushing the cover down, the user activates the multi-state actuator, which causes a bottom portion of the housing to be exposed so that the user can remove a single flosser at a time. The top and bottom halves of the housing are mirror images of each other and allow the dispenser to dispense from either end, thereby making the dispenser ambidextrous.

  • Patent number: 10555044
Abstract: Systems and methods described provide ways to order channels surfed such that channels of likely greater interest to the user are presented to the user first, and channels of lesser interest are presented after. For examples, channels showing popular programs may be placed higher in a channel surfing lineup. The systems and methods may also take account of channels that are showing commercials during a time of channel surfing, and may skip over the same while surfing and/or may come back to the channel, or re-place or otherwise include the channel in the surfing lineup, at such time as the commercial has ended and regular programming has continued.

  • Patent number: 10549879
Abstract: Various embodiments are directed to a container comprising: a spout, a base portion, and a plurality of alternating long sidewalls and short sidewalls extending away from the base portion to the spout. The plurality of alternating long sidewalls and short sidewalls collectively define a vertical portion extending away from the base portion, a downward sloping planar top portion extending away from the spout, and a gradually curved transition region extending between the vertical portion and the downward sloping planar top portion. The container comprises a strength protrusion surrounding the spout and defined within the downward sloping planar top portion and one or more vertical grooves defined within at least one of the long sidewalls or the short sidewalls.

  • Patent number: 10554384
Abstract: In some embodiments, an encryption system secures data using a homomorphic encryption. The encryption system encrypts a number by encrypting a number identifier of the number and combining the number and the encrypted number identifier using a mathematical operation to generate an encrypted number. The encrypted numbers may be stored at a server system along with their number identifiers. The server system can then generate an aggregation (e.g., sum) of the encrypted numbers and provide the aggregation, the encrypted numbers, and the number identifiers. The encryption system can then separate the aggregation of the numbers from the aggregation of the encrypted numbers using an inverse of the mathematical operation used in the encryption to effect removal of an aggregation of the encrypted number identifiers of the numbers from the aggregation of the encrypted numbers. The separated aggregation of the numbers is an aggregation of the plurality of the numbers.

  • Patent number: 10554575
Abstract: A method may be practiced in a distributed computing environment that provides computing resources to a plurality tenants. The method includes acts for allocating a limited set of system resources to the tenants. The method includes identifying a resource slice. The method further includes identifying an executing tenant workload. Checkpoint characteristics are identified for the executing tenant workload. Based on the checkpoint characteristics and the resource slice, a task eviction event is identified.

  • Patent number: 10551940
Abstract: A virtual reality system is described herein. The virtual reality system includes a cane controller and a computing system. The cane controller comprises a rod, a sensor, and a brake mechanism, wherein the sensor is configured to generate a signal that is indicative of position, direction of movement, and velocity of the rod, and wherein the brake mechanism is configured to apply a force to the rod. The computing system receives the signal, computes a position, direction of movement, and velocity of a virtual rod in a virtual space, and outputs a control signal to the brake mechanism based upon such computation. The brake mechanism applies the force to the rod in a direction and with a magnitude indicated in the control signal, thereby preventing the user from causing the virtual rod to penetrate a virtual barrier in the virtual space.

  • Patent number: 10555067
Abstract: Custom in-ear monitors (headsets, headphones, earbuds, hearing aids) having improved audio fidelity characteristics and improved manufacturability are constructed by designing a virtual three-dimensional model housing including sound and vent tubes, and equipment mounting receptacles and clips; and fabricating the housing substantially simultaneously or all-in-one-go using, e.g., a 3D printer. The sound and vent tubes comprise features such as inflection points and profile variations that are impossible to construct using traditional subtractive manufacturing processes.

  • Patent number: 10552415
Abstract: A distributed join is performed with two large data sets that are shuffled on different keys without shuffling the larger data set, even when the distributed join is performed on the key of the smaller data set. A third data set is generated that is shuffled on the key of the smaller data set and includes data associated with the key of the larger data set. The third data set and the smaller data set are joined on the shuffle key of the smaller data set to create a fourth data set that includes the first and second key. The fourth data set is shuffled on the key of the larger data set. The fourth data set and the larger data set are joined on the key of the larger data set to generate a fifth data set that can be shuffled on the key of the smaller data set.

  • Patent number: 10550984
Abstract: A pipe restraint assembly includes a restraint body configured to be removably attached to a portion of pipe. The portion of pipe is associated with a postulated pipe failure associated with a release of high pressure fluid. A plurality of apertures penetrate through the restraint body and are positioned proximate to a location of the postulated pipe failure. The apertures are configured to provide a number of passageways for the fluid to exit from the location of the postulated pipe failure and to be released outside of the restraint body. One or more restraint devices maintain the position of the apertures relative to the location of the postulated pipe failure.
