Abstract: A method of decoding JVET video includes receiving a bitstream indicating how a coding tree unit was partitioned into coding units, and parsing said bitstream to generate at least one predictor based on an intra prediction mode signaled in the bitstream. The predictor may be generated by interpolating neighboring pixels for each pixel within a coding block. The computation may be more accurate by deriving a value for a bottom right neighboring pixel.

Abstract: An interactive play set is described which comprises one or more active physical play pieces. In an embodiment, each active physical play piece receives data from one or more other play pieces in the play set and uses this data to generate proximity data. The proximity data describes distances between two or more play pieces from which it receives data to three or more proximity levels. The proximity data is then transmitted to an interactive entertainment experience (such as a game) which reflects changes in proximity level. For example, the changes may be visible in a graphical user interface or another play piece or audible to a user.

Abstract: A stop collar for a tubular includes an inner ring configured to engage the tubular and having a waveform profile. The waveform profile includes a peak and a base. The stop collar includes an outer ring configured to be disposed around the inner ring and configured to compress the inner ring. A method for assembling a stop collar for a centralizer on a tubular includes positioning an inner ring around the tubular, the inner ring including a profile and compressing the profile against the tubular by disposing an outer ring around the inner ring.

Abstract: This disclosure concerns an interactive head-mounted eyepiece with an integrated processor for handling content for display and an integrated image source for introducing the content to an optical assembly through which the user views a surrounding environment and the displayed content. The optical assembly includes absorptive polarizers or anti-reflective coatings to reduce stray light.
Abstract: This document describes techniques for fine-motion virtual-reality or augmented-reality control using radar. These techniques enable small motions and displacements to be tracked, even in the millimeter or sub-millimeter scale, for user control actions even when those actions are small, fast, or obscured due to darkness or varying light. Further, these techniques enable fine resolution and real-time control, unlike conventional RF-tracking or optical-tracking techniques.
Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing point of advertising purchasing include using mass media publications configured for or containing service, product or vendor transmittable signals, such as from radio frequency identification tags. In a preferred arrangement, a consumer perceiving an advertisement of the mass media publication may activate a reader in a portable communications device, such as a smart mobile or cellular phone, to receive information from the radio frequency signal associated with the advertisement to identify a vendor, product or service associated with the radio frequency identification. The smart mobile phone or communications device of the consumer may communicate with a system of a vendor or vendors by way of a commerce data organization system across a network to order a product or product information from a system of the vendor over the network by using the information from the radio frequency identification.
Abstract: An optical communication cable is provided. The cable includes a plurality of elongate optical transmission elements wrapped around an elongate central strength member such that a portion of the length of the plurality of wrapped elongate optical transmission elements form a spiral portion around the elongate central strength member. The cable includes an elastic sleeve surrounding the plurality of elongate optical transmission elements, and the elastic sleeve is formed from an extruded first material. The cable includes a cable body formed from an extruded second material different from the first material, and the cable body surrounds the film, and the cable body has an inner surface that faces the outer surface of the film.

Abstract: A surgical system includes a first detector that includes a first array of pixels configured to detect light reflected by a surgical instrument and generate a first signal comprising a first dataset representative of a visible image of the surgical instrument. The surgical system also includes a second detector, comprising a second array of pixels configured to detect infrared radiation produced by the surgical instrument during a procedure using the surgical instrument and generate a second signal comprising a second dataset representative of an infrared image of the surgical instrument. The surgical system further includes a processor configured to receive the first and second signals, identify from the first dataset data representative of the surgical instrument, and identify from the second dataset data representative of one or more regions of the surgical instrument above a predetermined threshold temperature.
Abstract: A computing device of a data zone includes a persistent storage and a processor. The persistent storage includes a data source. The processor obtains a global computation request, instantiates a global computation based on the global computation request, and instantiates an intermediate computation in a second data zone based on the instantiated global computation.
Abstract: A polar transmitter for an RFID reader and a system using the polar transmitter are disclosed. An RFID system according to at least some embodiments of the invention includes a polar transmitter, a receiver to receive responses from RFID tags, and a coupler connected to the polar transmitter, the receiver and one or more antennas. In at least some embodiments, the polar transmitter of the RFID system includes an envelope amplifier with a multi-phase buck converter to provide an envelope signal and a phase modulator connected to a power amplifier to phase modulate the power amplifier using a phase signal. In at least some embodiments, the polar transmitter of the RFID system transmits OPR-ASK signals to reduce AM modulation depth and provide a continuous phase signal for the phase modulator.
Abstract: A sandbox architecture that isolates and identifies misbehaving plug-ins (intentional or unintentional) to prevent system interruptions and failure. Based on plug-in errors, the architecture automatically disables and blocks registration of the bad plug-in via a penalty point system. Publishers of bad plug-ins are controlled by disabling the bad plug-ins and registering the publisher in an unsafe list. Isolation can be provided in multiple levels, such as machine isolation, process isolation, secure accounts with limited access rights, and application domain isolation within processes using local security mechanisms. A combination of the multiple levels of isolation achieves a high level of security. Isolation provides separation from other plug-in executions and restriction to system resources such as file system and network IP.
