Abstract: A coated medical device (10) including a structure (12) adapted for introduction into a passage or vessel of a patient. The structure is formed of preferably a non-porous base material (14) having a bioactive material layer (18) disposed thereon. The medical device is preferably an implantable stent or balloon (26) of which the bioactive material layer is deposited thereon. The stent can be positioned around the balloon and another layer of the bioactive material posited over the entire structure and extending beyond the ends of the positioned stent. The ends of the balloon extend beyond the ends of the stent and include the bioactive material thereon for delivering the bioactive material to the cells of a vessel wall coming in contact therewith. The balloon further includes a layer of hydrophilic material (58) positioned between the base and bioactive material layers of the balloon.

Abstract: A method for preparing solid materials is described. One aspect of the method includes the steps of providing a mixture comprising an organic material in a blend of a solvent and non-solvent for the organic material, distributing the mixture into either droplets or granules, and evaporating the solvent and non-solvent mixture to form particles having an average size of from about 0.5 ?m to about 5000 ?m.
Abstract: In some examples, a facility chooses documents for recommendation to people interested in a distinguished subject. The facility accesses a data resource indicating, for each of a plurality of documents, (1) a subject semantically determined for the document, (2) a number of people who have interacted with the document, and (3) an aggregate level of intensity with which those people have interacted with the document. Based on contents of the data structure, the facility identifies one or more documents (1) for which the distinguished subject has been semantically determined, and (2) with which a relatively large number of people have interacted and/or with which people have interacted with a high aggregate level of intensity. The facility transmits to another computing system data configured to cause the first computing system to present a recommendation for some or all of the identified documents.
Abstract: A system and method for determining the presence of an individual at a particular spot within a location preferably based on the strength of signals received from beacons assigned to the particular spot by a software application (“App”) running on an electronic device of the individual. In one embodiment, certain presence calculations are performed by the App. In another embodiment, the App forwards information regarding the received beacon signals to an electronic identification and location tracking system and the presence calculations are performed by the system.
Abstract: A pill sorter with bag sealer designed for the dispensation and storage of easily transportable packages of medication. The pill sorter has one or more independent chambers that can store pills or other medication. The pill sorter dispenses medication through a funneled lid, allowing the user to dispense a single chamber's medication into a plastic bag. The plastic bag is placed into a bag sealer having an activation button, light-emitting diode (LED), battery, microprocessor, and sealing element. The activation time of the sealing element is adjusted by the microprocessor based upon the measured level of charge present in the battery, providing a one-touch sealing solution to the user. The sealing element seals the plastic bag, which has a perforated seal, allowing for easy opening of the plastic bag when the medication is needed.
Abstract: In various embodiments, methods and systems for providing access to file systems are provided. An SFA-based operation having an operation modifier for a file in a file system is received. The SFA-based operation is defined based on a file-representational state transfer (REST) interface. The SFA-REST interface comprises integrated functionality of an SFA protocol and REST protocol. The SFA-based operation is executed using the operation modifier. A REST-based operation for the file in the distributed file storage is received. The REST-based operation is defined based on the SFA-REST interface. The operation modifier is referenced in order to execute the REST-based operation. The REST-based operation based on the SFA-REST interface. A schema can be implemented for accessing the file system. The schema includes tables to store files, the table comprises fields corresponding to elements of a SFA-REST interface. A snapshot component can be implemented to backup file shares in the file system.

Abstract: A calendar view smoothly and progressively transitions between different calendar views. Instead of snapping to a week view in response to changing from a month view to the week view, the month view progressively transitions to the week view while receiving an interaction. For example, the week view may smoothly expand while the view of the other weeks in the month smoothly decrease in size while the interaction is being received. A user may navigate between different calendar views such as year to month, month to week, week to multiple days, days to single days, and the like. When navigating month to month, week to week, day to day, and the like, the transitions between each time element are progressively and smoothly transitioned. Task information or other information that is displayed in the calendar progressively transitions to show more or less information depending on the interaction being received.

Abstract: A power stage includes a power stage amplifier, selectable matching networks, and phase-change material (PCM) radio frequency (RF) switches. Each of the PCM RF switches includes a heating element transverse to a PCM, the heating element approximately defining an active segment of the PCM. A power stage amplifier output is connected to the PCM RF switches. Each of the PCM RF switches is connected to one of the selectable matching networks. A power stage amplifier output is coupled to or decoupled from one of the selectable matching networks by one of the PCM RF switches. In one approach, the power stage is included in a power amplifier module of a communications device. The power amplifier module further includes a bias and match controller that biases the power stage amplifier, and that uses one of the PCM RF switches to couple or decouple the power stage amplifier output.

Abstract: A blood sampling device is provided having holder with a manipulating end and an absorbent probe on the opposing end. The probe is of hydrophilic polymer sized to directly absorb a predetermined volume of up to about 30 microliters of blood. Ribs on the holder position the probe within a compartment of a container to prevent contact with the container. The ribs also position the probe within extraction wells.

Abstract: A locking mechanism, for locking a closure having a closure side edge and a closure bore in the closure side edge relative to a frame having a frame side edge and a frame bore in the frame side edge is disclosed. The locking mechanism may include a locking member, a moveable magnet, and an actuating magnet. The moveable magnet may be attached to the locking member and may be configured to move within one of the closure bore and the frame bore such that the locking member may be moved so as to engage or disengage the other of the closure bore and frame bore. The actuating magnet may be configured to magnetically cooperate with the moveable magnet to move the locking member from a disengaged position into an engaged position and vice versa.
Abstract: A wind tunnel device may include a waste disposal unit configured to collect fluid from a droplet extractor positioned in a wind tunnel. The waste disposal unit may include a drain line and a liquid trap integrated in the drain line. The liquid trap may be adjustable during operation of the wind tunnel to accommodate different tunnel operating conditions (e.g., wind speeds) such that liquid waste does not backflow into the wind tunnel.
