  • Patent number: 12354472
Abstract: A monitoring system and method may receive detection times at which passage of one or more vehicle systems by a detection device disposed along a route is detected. Locations of the one or more vehicle systems at different times may be received from one or more location sensors disposed onboard the one or more vehicle systems. The locations of the one or more vehicle systems when the one or more vehicle systems were detected by the detection device may be determined by comparing the detection times with the different times associated with the locations. A condition or state of the detection device can be determined by comparing the locations that are determined by the controller with a device location of the detection device.

  • Patent number: 12355209
Abstract: A semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) with a variable optical confinement factor I? along the length of the device is disclosed. At the input end of the SOA, the optical confinement is high as an optical core is adjacent an optical gain layer, resulting in a high-gain region that rapidly increases the optical signal power. In the central portion of the SOA, the optical confinement is continuously reduced as the optical core is tapered away from the optical gain layer, thereby lowering the gain, but increasing the output saturation power. Near the output end of the SOA, the optical confinement factor is held constant, providing a length of additional gain, thereby further increasing the output power. The SOA may optionally include a spot-size converter region to focus the output optical signal.

  • Patent number: 12356029
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing variable trick-play mode playback of media content in accordance with embodiments of the invention are disclosed. A playback device stores images of the media content associated with presentation times and marker information for the media content that indicates the presentation time of moments of interest. When a trick-play mode is invoked, the playback device determines a presentation time of a next marker in the playback. The playback device determines whether the current presentation time of the playback is within a specified range of the presentation time of the next marker and adjusts the speed of the trick-play playback based on the determination. The next frame to present is determined based on the adjusted speed of the trick-play playback and displayed.

  • Patent number: 12355651
Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for monitoring of a large-scale network, such as a large-scale network supporting cloud infrastructures. A minimum fixed probe allocation and/or a sampling budget for monitoring may be set. A probing and/or sampling strategy may be optimized in order to measure network metrics, such as error metrics associated with the latency of a network, with a known accuracy, given a particular probe allocation. The systems and techniques provided may leverage particular designs to determine efficient probing strategies for the network, while simultaneously conserving computing resources. In some examples, instead of using these frameworks and techniques directly in production networks, a scalable and near optimal approximation technique based on the Frank-Wolfe algorithm may be used.

  • Patent number: 12353481
Abstract: Methods, systems, and non-transitory computer readable storage media are disclosed for optimizing computer memory usage for lookup lists in computer memory via probabilistic data structures. For example, the disclosed system generates a probabilistic data structure (e.g., a Bloom filter) to represent data in a lookup list including multi-token items by hashing items of the lookup list to sets of bit values in a bit vector. The disclosed system classifies text content in a digital document by utilizing a maximum number of tokens from multi-token items in the lookup list to select and compare sets of sequential tokens in the digital document to the probabilistic data structure. The disclosed system also iteratively reduces the number of tokens in sets of sequential tokens for subsequent comparisons. Furthermore, in some aspects, the disclosed system causes a computing device to modify a digital document and/or database operations based on the classifications.
