  • Patent number: 11920253
Abstract: A method for vacuum heat treating Nb, such as is used in superconducting radio frequency cavities, to engineer the interstitial oxygen profile with depth into the surface to conveniently optimize the low-temperature rf surface resistance of the material. An example application is heating of 1.3 GHz accelerating structures between 250-400° C. to achieve a very high quality factor of 5×1010 at 2.0 K. With data supplied by secondary ion mass spectrometry measurements, application of oxide decomposition and oxygen diffusion theory was applied to quantify previously unknown parameters crucial in achieving the oxygen alloy concentration profiles required to optimize the rf surface resistance. RF measurements of vacuum heat treated Nb superconducting radio frequency cavities confirmed the minimized surface resistance (higher Q0) previously expected only from 800° C. diffusive alloying with nitrogen.

  • Patent number: 11921356
Abstract: A contact lens cleaner device which can be used to clean contact lenses from debris and bacteria. The contact lens cleaner device pumps contact lens solution into reservoirs where contact lenses can be placed. The contact lenses rotate within the reservoirs and debris falls into a filter, as the contact lens solution continues to be pumped through the device. UV-lighting kills bacteria and cleanses the contact lenses in the reservoirs.

  • Patent number: 11922402
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that authorize blockchain network transactions based on a work requirement. A blockchain network has a plurality of nodes. At least one node of the plurality of nodes is configured to determine whether a token has satisfied a work requirement. The work requirement represents participation of performing work within the blockchain network. The at least one node is further configured to approve a transaction as a function of determining that the work requirement has been satisfied and, to disapprove the transaction as a function of determining that the work requirement has not been satisfied. By enabling the transaction to be approved based on a work requirement, the token, for example, can be authenticated as having an inherent functional value. In this way, the blockchain network or token exchange can attest to the token not being a security, which would be subject to federal securities and regulations.

The vent is configured to be installed along a hip of the roof overlying and covering a ventilation slot formed through the roof deck along the hip. The vent includes an elongated laterally flexible top panel from which baffle arrays depend. The baffle arrays are formed of a plurality of depending arcuately curved vanes that arc away from the vent. The vanes are aerodynamically shaped to redirect wind-blown rain and snow away from the vent and are configured to block the migration of rain and snow through the vent. A pair of spongy conformable filler strips is attached beneath the edge portions of the vent. The filler strips conform to the shapes of underlying shingles when the vent is installed to fill any gaps that otherwise might be formed between the vent and the shingles.

  • Patent number: 11918993
Abstract: Zero emission nested-loop (ZEN) reforming provides a scalable, eco-friendly process to produce high quality hydrogen at a relatively low operating cost. In one embodiment, a ZEN system comprises a reactor, a regenerator, and a photocatalytic reformer. During operation, the reactor receives a gas mixture and outputs hydrogen and catalyst adsorbed with carbon dioxide. The gas mixture is methane, steam, or hydrogen. Next, the regenerator receives the catalyst adsorbed with carbon dioxide and outputs carbon dioxide and desorbed catalyst. Next, the photocatalytic reformer receives carbon dioxide output by the regenerator and outputs methane and oxygen. The reactor receives at least some of the methane output by the photocatalytic reformer. By recycling methane in this way, the need for additional methane to fuel the system is reduced. The ZEN reforming system provides a novel technique to convert greenhouse gas emissions and carbon dioxide into oxygen and reusable methane gas.
