  • Patent number: 11913627
Abstract: Systems and methods for using light switches to control lighting and other functions are disclosed. Each switch may be a manual switch that is mounted to a wall. A biasing device may be positioned proximate each switch. When a user moves the switch out of a first position and into a second position or toward a second position, the delivery of household power to one or more light units may be interrupted. However, when the user releases the switch, the biasing device may provide an immediate automatic return of the manual switch to the first position. The resulting short interruption in household power may be used as a signal for controlling operation of the one or more light units and/or other electronic devices installed at one or more lighting sites corresponding to the switch.

  • Patent number: 11914084
Abstract: For determining whether oil waste at a field testing site is exempt from selected naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) waste regulations, a measurement apparatus including a detection module that determine radioactivity counts per minute for an oil waste sample is utilized. The measurement apparatus includes an analysis module that uses a first nonlinear transfer function to determine a mass for the oil waste based on a volume of solids determined via BS&W testing. The analysis module uses a second nonlinear transfer function to determine a maximum radioactivity level for the sample which is then normalized to picoCuries/g. The normalized maximum radioactivity level per gram is compared to a NORM exemption level for a selected region and communicated to entities at the field-testing site and optionally to other entities. A system and a method perform the functions of the measurement apparatus.

  • Patent number: 11916596
Abstract: A distributed radio access network (RAN) is provided. A selected wireless transceiver node(s) in a selected coverage cell receives a radio frequency (RF) test signal(s). The selected wireless transceiver node(s) determines an effective gain value based on a predefined characteristic of the RF test signal(s). The selected wireless transceiver node(s) communicates the effective gain value and other related parameters to a server apparatus in the distributed RAN. The server apparatus determines a common gain value for the selected wireless transceiver node(s) in the selected coverage cell based on the parameters. Accordingly, the selected wireless transceiver node(s) operates based on the common gain value.

  • Patent number: 11914367
Abstract: Sun-aware routing and controls of an autonomous vehicle is described herein. A location and an orientation of a sensor system is identified within an environment of the autonomous vehicle to determine whether the sun causes a threshold level of perception degradation to the sensor system incident to generating a sensor signal indicative of a traffic light. The determination is based upon perception degradation data that can be precomputed for locations and orientations within the environment for dates and times of day. The perception degradation data is based upon the location of at least one traffic light and positions of the sun relative to the locations and the orientations within the environment. A mechanical system of the autonomous vehicle is controlled to execute a maneuver that reduces perception degradation to the sensor system when the perception degradation is determined to exceed the threshold level of perception degradation.

  • Patent number: 11914093
Abstract: A method for human movement classification includes a plurality of radio frequency (RF) antennas to expose a body surface of a human user to an E-field, at least a part of the human user positioned within a near-field region relative to the RF antennas. The plurality of RF antennas are scanned to determine ground-relative changes in electrical conditions. A differential-scanning subset of RF antennas are selected, including two or more RF antennas for which the changes in electrical conditions exceed a threshold. For each RF antenna in the differential-scanning subset, a set of antenna-relative changes in electrical conditions are determined by comparing the RF antenna to one or more other RF antennas in the differential-scanning subset as a plurality of pairs. Based at least in part on the ground-relative changes in electrical conditions and the antenna-relative changes in electrical conditions, a movement performed by the human user is classified.
