Abstract: This disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for eliminating false activation of components of a vehicle when the vehicle is parked in a garage. Example components can be a door lock, a door latch, a door activation servomotor, or a light. In an example method, a vehicle entry authorization system of a vehicle operates a sensor system to obtain dimensional information of an interior portion of the garage. The vehicle entry authorization system may then detect a presence of a mobile device (such as a smartphone, smart device, or a vehicle key fob) and determines the location of the mobile device based on the dimensional information. If the mobile device is located outside the garage, the vehicle entry authorization system refrains from activating a component of the vehicle. However, if the mobile device is located inside the garage, the vehicle entry authorization system activates the component.

Abstract: A power system includes a battery and a controller. The controller inhibits charge of the battery according to voltage or current values sensed before and after contactors electrically connected to the battery are commanded to open and indicating that a leakage resistance associated with one of the contactors increases after the one of contactors is commanded to open, and a duration of a continuous voltage drop across another of the contactors after the another of the contactors is commanded to open exceeds a threshold.

Abstract: A refrigeration system includes a high-pressure side with a gas cooler configured, while the refrigeration system is powered by a main power supply and is operating to provide refrigeration, to cool refrigerant on the high-pressure side. The refrigeration system includes a low-pressure side with one or more evaporators. The refrigeration system includes an auxiliary compressor coupled to a backup power supply. An input of the auxiliary compressor is coupled to fluid conduit of the low-pressure side, and an output of the auxiliary compressor is coupled to fluid conduit of the high-pressure side. A controller is communicatively coupled to the auxiliary compressor. After determining that the main power supply is unavailable, the controller causes the auxiliary compressor to turn on to move refrigerant from the low-pressure side to the high-pressure side.
Abstract: A system for adjusting actuator pressure on an agricultural implement includes a fluid-driven actuator configured to adjust a position of a tool of the implement relative to the implement frame, with the fluid-driven actuator defining a fluid chamber. Furthermore, the system includes a valve configured to control a flow of a fluid to the fluid-driven actuator. In addition, the system includes a fluid conduit fluidly coupled between the valve and the fluid chamber. Moreover, the system includes a computing system is configured to determine the current position of the tool relative to the implement frame based on the data captured by a position sensor. Additionally, the computing system is configured to determine a current volume of the fluid chamber and the fluid conduit based on the determined current position. Furthermore, the computing system is configured to control the operation of the valve based on the determined current volume.

Abstract: A flossing apparatus includes a handle assembly and a filament. The handle assembly includes first and second composite cores and first and second arms. The first composite core has at least one paper layer and at least one biodegradable plastic layer, and the second composite core has at least one paper layer and at least one biodegradable plastic layer. The filament is mounted to the first and second arms and captured between the first composite core and the second composite core.
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling fueling and mitigating knock in internal combustion engines, such as multi-fuel engines. In one example, a method may include monitoring a frequency of knock events corresponding to one or more engine cylinders, and dynamically increasing a substitution ratio while the frequency of knock events is less than a maximum action threshold. In some examples, the method may further include actively adjusting one or more engine operating conditions to decrease the substitution ratio responsive to a severity of knocking in the one or more engine cylinders being greater than or equal to a threshold severity.

Abstract: A system, in a vehicle consist configured for dual fuel operation and comprising at least one fuel car operably connectable to at least one powered vehicle via a fuel distribution path, includes an energy management processing unit. The energy management processing unit is configured to obtain a first cost of a first fuel, obtain a second cost of a second fuel, and determine a proportional ratio of the first fuel and the second fuel for each of plural power settings available for use during performance of a mission along a route. The energy management processing unit is also configured to determine a trip plan specifying power settings for corresponding plural sections of the route to perform the mission using the first cost, the second cost, and the proportional ratio for the power settings to optimize a total combined cost of fuel used during performance of the mission.
Abstract: A method of point cloud attribute coding is performed by at least one processor and includes receiving a point cloud data set comprising a bounding box. A determination is made as to whether the bounding box is symmetric or asymmetric. A quad-tree-binary-tree (QtBt) decomposition is performed on the point cloud data set based on the bounding box being asymmetric.
Abstract: A system and method for maintaining a patient's body temperature during and after surgical exposure is provided. A surgical, insulative cap both aids in maintaining the patient's core body temperature at an euthermic range and further incorporates a graphic display panel for providing a remote caregiver informational interface. Vital signs sensors may therefor communicate, either directly or remotely, to said informational interface and allow access to vital signs information to the caregiver in a convenient manner that does not require diversion of attention from the patient in order to monitor.
Abstract: An electronic assembly may include a chassis, and electronic modules mounted within the chassis. Each electronic module may include a printed circuit substrate, heat-generating electronic components mounted on the printed circuit substrate, and a heat sink body mounted to the printed circuit substrate and having a plurality of heat pipe receiving passageways extending between opposing side edges and overlying corresponding heat-generating components. A respective elongate, passive, heat pipe may extend within each heat pipe receiving passageway and be removably fastened to at least one end to the heat sink body for enhanced conductive heat transport.
Abstract: The technology relates to autonomous vehicles having hitched or towed trailers for transporting cargo and other items between locations. Aspects of the technology provide a smart hitch connection between the fifth-wheel of a tractor unit and the kingpin of a trailer. This avoids requiring a person to make physical pneumatic and electrical connections between the fifth-wheel and kingpin using external hoses and cables. Instead, the necessary connections are made internally, autonomously. For instance, the fifth-wheel may provide air pressure via one or more slots arranged on a connection surface, and the trailer is configured to receive the air pressure through one or more openings on a contact surface of the kingpin. An electrical connection section of the fifth-wheel may also provide electrical signals and/or power to an electrical contact interface of the kingpin. Rotational information about relative alignment of the trailer to the tractor unit may also be provided.
