  • Patent number: 11835715
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for designing a multimodal photonic component. In one aspect, a method includes defining a loss function within a simulation space including multiple voxels and encompassing features of the multimodal photonic component. The loss function corresponds to a target output mode profile for an input mode profile, where the target output mode profile includes a relationship between a set of operating conditions and one or more supported modes of the multimodal photonic component at a particular operative wavelength. The initial structure is defined for one or more features, where at least some of the voxels corresponding to features have a dimension smaller than a smallest operative wavelength of the multimodal photonic component, and values for structural parameters for the features are determined so that a loss according to the loss function is within a threshold loss.

  • Patent number: 11832885
Abstract: A physician prescribes an ocular imaging unit to a patient, which the patient sets up in the home to self-monitor his/her ocular anatomy. Typically, the unit connects to a smartphone, and the patient can use an app to operate the system. When the patient experiences a problem with his/her eyes, the patient initiates a remote evaluation, and the system transmits an alert to a remotely located physician, signifying the need for a pre-diagnostic evaluation. The physician then performs an initial evaluation remotely over the Internet using the home ocular imaging unit to obtain images or live video of the patient's ocular anatomy. The physician remotely makes a pre-diagnostic assessment regarding whether an in-person diagnostic examination of the ocular anatomy is warranted, and then communicates this to the patient. In some cases, the imaging unit captures images, both of the retinas and exteriors of the eyes, and also performs vision tests.

  • Patent number: 11838153
Abstract: A digital signal processor includes analog to digital converters to convert an analog voltage to digital voltage in unit intervals of an analog signal. A decision feedback equalizer (DFE) determines a first level of a digital sum of a digital voltage in a first UI and digital voltages of adjacent UIs (taps). The DFE identifies predetermined sequences of levels of consecutive UIs that include the first level and selects one of the predetermined sequences to decode digital data encoded in the analog signal in the UI. The DSP may be programmable to include taps from UIs that may affect the first UI. The predetermined sequences may include levels of the digital sums of consecutive UIs of the analog signal. The predetermined sequences may be identified in a look-up table based on the first level.
