  • Patent number: 11834612
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods are disclosed for shale pyrolysis. A retort may include a first side and a second side opposite the first side, where the first side and the second side include descending angled surfaces at alternating angles to produce zig-zag motion of shale descending through the retort. Steam distributors may be coupled to the first side, with collectors coupled to the second side, to produce crossflow of steam and heat across the descending shale. A steam temperature control subsystem may be coupled to the steam distributors and may deliver higher-temperature steam to an upper portion of the retort and lower-temperature steam to a lower portion of the retort.

  • Patent number: 11835295
Abstract: A metal furnace header gate system haying a recirculation port in the furnace, a hot gas generator, a gas blower, and a furnace door. The door has an embedded gas manifold and outlet ports that each connect the manifold to a directional nozzle. The blower draws exhaust from the recirculation port into the hot gas generator, which generates additional exhaust and mixes the exhaust gases together. The blower forces this exhaust mixture into the manifold, through the nozzles, and into the furnace. A computer controls the blower and the hot gas generator to regulate the system.

  • Patent number: 11835327
Abstract: A carrier device includes a body member having two parallel sections, terminal ends of which extend in a common direction. A bracket nested with the body member has two lateral side members extending in the common direction. Each side member has a terminal end and a loop proximate the end defining a hole. An interior is defined between the sections of the body member and between the side members of the bracket. A binding member engages the sections of the body member and passes through the respective hole of each side member defined by the loop. A retention member, for retaining a magazine when inserted into the carrier device, also passes through the respective holes. The binding member draws sections of the body member toward each other to maintain frictional engagement of an inserted magazine or other article with interior contact points of the carrier device.

  • Patent number: 11835770
Abstract: An automated fiber optic rotary joint (FORJ) dynamically measures, using an angle encoder, twists in an optical fiber cable caused by movements of a mouse or other animal and automatically unwinds the optical fiber cable(s) by engaging a motor. To optimize its efficiency, the unwinding process is activated automatically only when the angle encoder reaches a predetermined threshold. In some embodiments, the optical fiber is unwound in increments of 360°. Various embodiments allow simultaneous transfer of optical signals through independent channels to and from multiple sites of a freely moving animal through a rotating interface and with minimal mechanical impact on the natural behavior of the animal. The design principle leads to a minimal variation of light transmission over rotation suitable for life science applications. A single channel FORJ device can be readily expanded to a two-, three- or more-channel device.

  • Patent number: 11836034
Abstract: The present disclosure is to determine a probable root cause of a performance issue. For example, a method can include processing, using a processor, a set of calls for a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) transaction wherein individual calls of the set of calls have a set of parameters; and identifying, using the processor, that the HTTP transaction has a performance issue that falls below a predetermined level of a performance metric. Further steps can include separating, using the processor, the set of calls into a first group with the performance issue and a second group without the performance issue; discovering, using the processor, a common subset of parameters among the first group; and determining that the common subset of parameters is a probable root cause of the performance issue if the common subset of parameters is not found in the second group.

  • Patent number: 11835746
Abstract: Systems and methods for performing coherent diffraction in an optical device are disclosed. An optical device may include a grating medium with a first hologram having a first grating frequency. A second hologram at least partially overlapping the first hologram may be provided in the grating medium. The second hologram may have a second grating frequency that is different from the first grating frequency. The first and second holograms may be pair-wise coherent with each other. A manufacturing system may be provided that writes the pair-wise coherent holograms in a grating medium using a signal beam and a reference beam. Periscopes may redirect portions of the signal and reference beams towards a partial reflector, which combines the beams and provides the combined beam to a detector. A controller may adjust an effective path length difference between the signal and reference beams based on a measured interference pattern.
