Abstract: A scrubbing solution for removing contaminants, including particularly hydrogen sulfide, from a fluid. The scrubbing solution includes at least one scrubbing reagent which has a primary or secondary amine and an acid, which may be phosphoric acid. The fluid being scrubbed is passed through the scrubbing solution. The contaminants react with the scrubbing reagent securing them in the scrubbing solution. The fluid being scrubbed and the scrubbing solution are then separated. The scrubbing solution is heated and, if the scrubbing solution is under pressure, the pressure is reduced. The acid facilitates thorough removal of the contaminants, and especially the hydrogen sulfide, from the scrubbing solution. The scrubbing solution is then ready for reuse. Because the scrubbing solution is rendered substantially free of hydrogen sulfides, it can absorb other sulfide contaminants that might not otherwise be absorbed.

Abstract: A sheet of flexible material can be deployed or stored by unfurling or furling the sheet using one or more inflatables. After the sheet is deployed to, for example, cover a load on a flatbed trailer, the inflatable can be deflated for storage. A sheet that has been removed from the load can be stored by placing an inflatable along an edge of the sheet. The inflatable is pressurized, and the sheet is furled onto the inflatable by rolling the inflatable. The inflatable is deflated and rolled up with the sheet for storage.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for managing uplink resource grants in wireless networks. An exemplary method embodiment includes a mobile terminal: receiving from a base station a first uplink resource grant schedule including a first uplink resource grant and a second uplink resource grant, the first uplink resource grant giving the mobile terminal an exclusive right to use a first set of resource blocks on a recurring basis and the second uplink resource grant giving the mobile terminal a non-exclusive right to use a second set of resource blocks on a recurring basis; and using, by the mobile terminal, the second set of resource blocks to transmit data to the base station during at least a first time interval of the first period of time, said first period of time including multiple time intervals during which the mobile terminal has been granted the right to transmit data.

Abstract: In some embodiments, techniques are provided for analyzing time series data to detect anomalies. In some embodiments, the time series data is processed using a machine learning model. In some embodiments, the machine learning model is trained in an unsupervised manner on large amounts of previous time series data, thus allowing highly accurate models to be created from novel data. In some embodiments, training of the machine learning model alternates between a fitting optimization and a trimming optimization to allow large amounts of training data that includes untagged anomalous records to be processed. Because a machine learning model is used, anomalies can be detected within complex systems, including but not limited to autonomous vehicles such as unmanned aerial vehicles. When anomalies are detected, commands can be transmitted to the monitored system (such as an autonomous vehicle) to respond to the anomaly.

Abstract: A method of and system for handling latency issues encountered in producing real-time entertainment such as games of skill synchronized with live or taped televised events is described herein. There are multiple situations that are dealt with regarding latencies in receiving a television signal with respect to real-time entertainment based on the unfolding games played along with the telecasts. Systemic delays, arbitrarily imposed delays of a broadcast signal and variances in the precise broadcast times of taped television programs have to be equalized so as to provide fair entertainment.

Abstract: Example systems, methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture for wirelessly modifying detection characteristics of portable devices are disclosed herein. Example portable devices include example radio circuitry and example processor circuitry. In disclosed examples, the example processor circuitry is to cause the radio circuitry to scan for radio frequency beacons. The example processor circuitry is also to trigger activation of audio monitoring via a microphone of the portable device in response to establishment of a first connection with a first radio frequency beacon, the audio monitoring to at least one of detect an audio code or generate an audio signature. The example processor circuitry is further to cause the audio monitoring to stop in response to establishment of a second connection with a second radio frequency beacon different from the first radio frequency beacon.

Abstract: A directional illumination device for a vehicle external light comprises an array of light sources and an imaging waveguide comprising an input surface and a reflective end. Opposed guide surfaces are arranged to guide input light from the input surface to the reflective end and back along the waveguide after reflection at the reflective end, the waveguide being arranged to extract input light as it is guided back along the waveguide after reflection and to cause the extracted light to exit through the first guide surface. The reflective end has positive optical power in the direction laterally across the waveguide and the waveguide is arranged to direct the extracted light in respective output illumination directions distributed in a lateral direction in dependence on the input positions of the light sources in the direction laterally across the waveguide. A thin, high brightness and high efficiency controllable directional vehicle headlight is provided.

Abstract: A method allows a receiving device to control aspects of an image stream transmitting (IST) device. The method includes receiving a segmented video stream from the IST device during a video communication session. The segmented video stream includes a primary segment and a secondary segment presenting a virtual control interface. The method includes presenting, on a display device, a control enabling view of the segmented video stream and monitoring for movement, captured by at least one image capturing device, that is indicative of the input occurring within a spatial location proximate to the selectable feature. The method includes in response to detecting the input, identifying a function associated with the selectable feature and activating the function to affect one or more characteristics of a video image presented within the primary segment.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for mobile device tracking system within a VR simulation. The method includes determining a position and orientation of a mobile device tracking module (e.g., case) attached to a mobile device, calculating a position and orientation of the of the mobile device based at least partially on a position and orientation of a tracking module, simulating a real world environment, generating a virtual visualization of the mobile device and rendering a VR simulation based at least partially on the position and orientation of the display screen of the mobile device. The position and orientation of the display screen provides a virtual position and orientation of the display screen relative to a virtual origin within the VR simulation.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to smoking food in an outdoor grill using a customized smoking routine. In one scenario, an electronic controller of an outdoor grill receives an input to initiate smoke generation according to a specified smoke generation pattern, including: adding a specified amount of combustible pellets to a combustion area within the outdoor grill, such that the combustible pellets begin to burn, measuring a current internal temperature of the outdoor grill and, if below a threshold value, adding a specified amount of additional combustible pellets to the combustion area sufficient to raise the temperature to another threshold value, allowing the internal temperature to cool a temperature below the first threshold value and, upon determining that the temperature of the outdoor grill has cooled below the first specified threshold value, adding additional combustible pellets to the combustion area sufficient to raise the temperature to at least the second threshold value.

Abstract: A system for electrically controlling air brakes on a trailer having an electrically actuated valve for releasing pressurized air at a controlled rate. The trailer is connectable to a standard electrical connector on a towing vehicle that provides a proportional braking signal. The proportional signal is sent to a controller that actuates the electrically actuated valve. When the controller receives the proportional braking signal from the towing vehicle representing no braking force, the controller actuates the electrically actuated valve to produce no air pressure to the air brake. When the controller receives the proportional braking signal from the towing vehicle representing full braking force, the controller actuates the electrically actuated valve to provide air to the air brake corresponding to full braking force of the air brakes.

Abstract: Techniques involve obtaining, at a first network interface card coupled with a first device, information related to a plurality of data blocks to be written to a second device, the information including sizes of the plurality of data blocks and a plurality of destination addresses in a memory of the second device where the plurality of data blocks will be written. The techniques further involve generating a write request for the plurality of data blocks based on the information, the write request indicating at least the plurality of destination addresses and the sizes of the plurality of data blocks. The techniques further involve sending the write request to a second network interface card coupled with the second device, so that the plurality of data blocks are written to the plurality of destination addresses. Such techniques reduce the number of communications thus improving system performance and reducing hardware resource consumption.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for managing data in a storage device, such as a solid-state drive (SSD). In some embodiments, a data storage device includes a main non-volatile memory (NVM), a host command queue that lists pending host read and host write commands, and a write cache which temporarily stores write data sets pending transfer to the NVM responsive to execution of the associated host write commands in the host command queue. A collision prediction circuit predicts a rate of future collisions involving the cached write data sets. A storage manager directs storage of the write data sets to a first target location responsive to the rate of future collisions being at a first level, and directs storage of the write data sets to a different, second target location responsive to the rate of future collisions being at a different, second level.

Abstract: The disclosed systems and methods may receive a first salted password having a first password, a first user device identifier, and a first browser identifier, extract the first password, the first user device identifier, and the first browser identifier from the first salted password, and determine whether the first password, the first user device identifier, and the first browser identifier respectively match a stored first password, a stored first user device identifier, and a stored first browser identifier. The systems may grant the request to access the one or more resources for the first user device or perform other actions depending on whether the first password, the first user device identifier, and the first browser identifier respectively match the stored first password, the stored first user device identifier, and the stored first browser identifier.
