  • Patent number: 11803096
Abstract: An all-fiber supercontinuum (SC) optical source utilizes a combination of a seed pulse supply of short-duration optical pulses with a highly non-linear optical medium in the form of two or more concatenated sections of highly non-linear optical fiber (HNLF) of different dispersion values and lengths. The two or more sections of HNLF are configured to include at least one section that exhibits a positive dispersion value and one section that exhibits a negative dispersion value. Non-linear effects such as self-phase modulation (SPM), cross-phase modulation (XPM), Raman amplification, and the like, cause the seed pulses to broaden as they propagate through each section of HNLF, where the differences between the dispersion values, as well as the lengths of each fiber section, are particularly configured to create an SC output that is wide and smooth, exhibiting a stable intensity and high coherence level.

  • Patent number: 11801750
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for detecting hazardous vehicle events and encouraging usage of driving optimized application features to mitigate occurrence of the hazardous vehicle events. The driving optimized application features can address unsafe driving events that are determined to be correlated with certain distracting application features. For example, an application of a computing device can determine that a user is occupying a vehicle and is driving toward a destination. While driving, data available to the application can indicate that an unsafe driving event, such as a hard braking event, has occurred while the user was interacting with another application. Thereafter, and based on this data, the application can render an output characterizing the correlation between the hard braking event and the other application, and/or provide the user with an option to interact with the other application via driving optimized feature(s).

  • Patent number: 11804305
Abstract: A fabrication system and method for prosthetic appliances employs imaging of a contralateral skeletal structure for designing a matched, patient specific replacement appliance based on the patient's own skeletal structure. Many skeletal structures are disposed on opposed sides, i.e. left and right sides. A contralateral bone or skeletal member often accurately depicts the individual bone shape of a particular patient more accurately than a generalized approximation. A scan such as a CT or MRI is segmented to apportion a skeletal member for replacement and reconstructed into a 3D (3 dimensional) model. The 3D model is inverted to define the contralateral side, and augmented for surgical connection features and comparison with an anatomic ideal to mitigate imperfections. 3D printing and/or additive manufacturing techniques are invoked with biocompatible materials to render the replacement prosthetic appliance based on the model.

  • Patent number: 11805463
Abstract: A wireless UE wirelessly attaches to a network controller over a source RAN. The UE transfers UE capabilities that comprise a Public Land Mobile Network Identifier (PLMN ID) and transfers a slice request for a network slice type to the network controller over the source RAN. The network controller selects a network slice based on the requested network slice type. The network controller selects a mobility profile that comprises handover criteria based on the requested slice type and the PLMN ID. The UE exchanges user data with a user plane over the selected network slice. The UE determines a handover requirement based on the handover criteria and identifies a set of target RANs. The UE selects one of the target RANs based on the handover criteria and hands over to the target RAN. The UE exchanges additional user data with user plane over the network slice and the target RAN.
