Abstract: In some embodiments, a method maintains a first list that stores motion vectors from one or more blocks that have been previously processed in a frame. When a current block is in the first set of positions in the frame, the method resets and uses a motion vector from a second list to transcode the current block due to the resetting of the first list. When the current block is not in the first set of positions, the method uses a motion vector from the first list to transcode the current block.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods by which lead from spent lead-acid batteries may be extracted, purified, and used in the construction of new lead-acid batteries. A method includes: (A) forming a mixture including a carboxylate source and a lead-bearing material; (B) generating a first lead salt precipitate in the mixture as the carboxylate source reacts with the lead-bearing material; (C) increasing the pH of the mixture to dissolve the first lead salt precipitate; (D) isolating a liquid component of the mixture from one or more insoluble components of the mixture; (E) decreasing the pH of the liquid component of the mixture to generate a second lead salt precipitate; and (F) isolating the second lead salt precipitate from the liquid component of the mixture. Thereafter, the isolated lead salt precipitate may be converted to leady oxide for use in the manufacture of new lead-acid batteries.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for generating rare pose data. One of the methods includes obtaining a three-dimensional model of a dynamic object, wherein the dynamic object has multiple movable elements that define a plurality of poses of the dynamic object. A plurality of template poses of the dynamic object are used to generate additional poses for the dynamic object including varying angles of one or more key joints of the dynamic object according to the three-dimensional model. Point cloud data is generated for the additional poses generated for the dynamic object.
Abstract: Surgical retractors are disclosed herein. More particularly but not exclusively, in one form, a surgical retractor includes blade portions positioned on opposite ends thereof. The retractor also includes one or more portions positioned between the blade portions which provide an ergonomic handle design configured to facilitate engagement thereof by a user. By way of non-limiting example, in one form the ergonomic design includes a pair of concave surfaces spaced apart and positioned on opposite sides of the body of the retractor from one another. Other features and aspects relating to this and other surgical retractors are disclosed herein.
Abstract: Performing branch predictor training using probabilistic counter updates in a processor is disclosed herein. In some aspects, a branch predictor training circuit of a processor is configured to determine whether a first branch prediction generated for a first conditional branch instruction by a branch predictor circuit of the processor is correct. Based on determining whether the first branch prediction is correct, the branch predictor training circuit probabilistically updates a first counter, corresponding to the first branch prediction, of a plurality of counters of a first branch predictor table of a plurality of branch predictor tables.

Abstract: A method for operating a portable document file (PDF) communication system involves receiving a composition control through a structured message user interface (UI) on a first device. The method uploads a PDF to a document transformation engine. A PDF analyzer identifies at least one break point within the PDF. A PDF splitter is configured with the at least one break point to generate at least one image from the PDF and transmit the PDF and the at least one image to an archiver. The archiver is operated to store the at least one image and the PDF and generate an archival link. A multimedia message service (MMS) composer is operated to generate a message parcel from the at least one image and the archival link. The structured message user interface is operated to communicate the message parcel as an MMS message to an endpoint.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for improving quality and coverage of a VoNR session on a user device. When a user device is currently engaged in a VoNR session having a voice signal and a data signal, at least one KPI is monitored. The KPI is an indicator that can indicate the quality of the VoNR session, such as RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, or the like. A threshold for the KPI is determined. Once the threshold is met, a handover is initiated for the voice signal without initiating a handover for the data signal.
Abstract: A device and method is disclosed for creating a lesion in adventitia tissue of a renal artery and/or a region of tissue surrounding the adventitia tissue while protecting intima and media tissue of the renal artery from injury. A catheter carrying a microwave antenna is positioned within the renal artery. Cooling fluid is circulated around the microwave antenna in thermal contact with the intima of the renal artery. Power is supplied to the microwave antenna to cause microwave energy to be emitted omnidirectionally from the microwave antenna. The power supplied to the microwave antenna and the cooling fluid circulated around the microwave antenna are controlled to cause the adventitia tissue and/or the region of tissue surrounding the adventitia tissue to be heated to a temperature sufficient to cause thermal damage while the intima and media tissue are maintained at a temperature where thermal damage does not occur.
