Abstract: Systems and methods for operating a controlled device via an activation accessory that includes a vibration motor, a wearable module including a clench-detection sensor (e.g., a Hall effect sensor), and a communication element. The sensor is coupled to a controller, which has an output coupled to a control signal interface and another output coupled to the vibration motor. The controller is programmed to receive and evaluate input signals from the sensor to determine whether or not they represent a command for the controlled device by assessing the input signals for a signal pattern indicative of a plurality of volitional jaw clench actions of a wearer of the wearable module. If/when the processor determines that the input signals represent the command, then it decodes the command and transmits an associated control signal to the controlled device via the control signal interface as well as an activation signal to the vibration motor.

Abstract: A system for holding multiple beverage containers may include a cooler or carrier with toting handles, closing tabs, and base. The base may be formed from a molded plastic, rubber or synthetic rubber material. The base may also include feet that hold the base a sufficient height from the ground. The base may have a generally conic tapering drain floor that makes up its top surface. The tapering drain floor may make draining the carrier easier by directing water toward a drain hole located in the base. Extending up from the base may be a multi-layer soft-sided wall where different layers perform different desired functions. For example, an inside layer closest to the internal cavity may be a waterproof layer, a middle layer may be an insulating layer, and an external layer may be a decorative layer.

Abstract: Among other things, we describe techniques for automatic annotation of environmental features in a map during navigation of a vehicle. The techniques include receiving, by the vehicle located within an environment, a map of the environment. Sensors of the vehicle receive sensor data and semantic data. The sensor data includes a plurality of features of the environment. A geometric model of a feature of the plurality of features is generated. The feature is associated with a drivable area within the environment. A drivable segment is extracted from the drivable area. The drivable segment is segregated into a plurality of geometric blocks, wherein each geometric block corresponds to a characteristic of the drivable area and the geometric model of the feature includes the plurality of geometric blocks. The geometric model is annotated using the semantic data. The annotated geometric model is embedded within the map.

Abstract: Validation of an activation event of a device based on analyzing audio data is disclosed. The device detects an activation event, e.g., an input to a soft-touch button or a wake word detected by a microphone array. Responsive to detecting the activation event, the device captures, via a microphone array on the device, sound from a local area of the device. The device stores the captured sound as audio data in an audio buffer. The device performs a validation of the activation event by analyzing the captured sound. The device performs an action based on a result of the validation.

Abstract: A wireless device receives parameters comprising a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) associated with a multicast and broadcast service (MBS) session; a first scrambling identity associated with the MBS session; and a second scrambling identity associated with unicast transmissions. The wireless device receives, based on the RNTI, a group common downlink control information (DCI) scheduling a transport block (TB) of the MBS session. Based on the group common DCI being received based on the RNTI, the wireless device determines a scrambling identity for the TB being equal to the first scrambling identity, and receives the TB being scrambled with a scrambling sequence initialized by the determined scrambling identity and the RNTI.

Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting corrosion in pipes are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, an apparatus for detecting corrosion in an object includes an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) having a ferromagnetic core and a plurality of permanent magnets arranged peripherally around the ferromagnetic core. The permanent magnets are arranged to produce a magnetic field through the ferromagnetic core. The apparatus also includes a coil between the ferromagnetic core and the object.

Abstract: A computer includes a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to receive a plurality of first images of an environment in a first lighting condition, classify pixels of the first images into categories, mask the pixels belonging to at least one of the categories from the first images, generate a three-dimensional representation of the environment based on the masked first images, and generate a second image of the environment in a second lighting condition based on the three-dimensional representation and on a first one of the first images.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure provide a system, apparatus, and methods for producing a high-performance camouflage and thermal management composite fabric textile systems. The systems comprise woven and non-woven composite fabrics consisting of layers for thermal and electromagnetic wave propagation as well as human thermal emission control. The systems incorporate thermal plastic insulation, felt insulation, electromagnetic wave absorption materials, electromagnetic wave propagation and thermal emission control elements, and camouflage pigment patterns. Dots containing encapsulated metallic particulates enable omni-spectral electromagnetic wave and thermal radiation signature manipulation and control as well as cost-effective manufacturing. Single blended textile processed via needle punching produces hair/fur-like protrusions made from a multilayer fabric composition having EM wave and thermal radiation control elements.

Abstract: A system for displaying information indicative of driving conditions, to a driver, using a smart ring are disclosed. An exemplary system includes a smart ring with a ring band having a plurality of surfaces including an inner surface, an outer surface, a first side surface, and a second side surface. The system further includes a processor, configured to obtain data from a communication module within the ring band, or from one or more sensors disposed within the ring band. The obtained data are representative of information indicative of one or more driving conditions to be displayed to the driver. The smart ring also includes a projector module display disposed on at least one of the plurality of surfaces, and configured to present information indicative of the one or more driving conditions.

Abstract: For a non-volatile memory that uses hard bit and soft bit data in error correction operations, to reduce the amount of soft bit data that needs to be transferred from a memory to the controller and improve memory system performance, the soft bit data can be compressed before transfer. After the soft bit data is read and stored into the internal data latches associated with the sense amplifiers, it is compressed within these internal data latches. The compressed soft bit data can then be transferred to the transfer data latches of a cache buffer, where the compressed soft bit data can be consolidated and transferred out over an input-output interface. Within the input-output interface, the compressed data can be reshuffled to put into logical user data order if needed.

Abstract: A system for generating proportional diagrams. The system includes a user interface, a memory for storing executable program code, and one or more electronic processors. The electronic processors are functionally coupled to the memory and the user interface. The electronic processors are configured to receive a dataset from one or more servers, wherein the dataset comprises software service health data. The electronic processors are further configured to remove extraneous data from the dataset, extract relevant data points from the dataset, and determine one or more relational data strings within the extracted relevant data points. The electronic processors are also configured to determine a frequency of occurrence for each of the extracted relevant data points within the dataset, and generate the proportional relationship diagram by plotting the relevant data points, wherein the relevant data points are plotted based on the determined relational data string and the determine frequency of occurrence.

Abstract: A beam scanner includes a substrate, a tiltable reflector hingedly supported by the substrate, and a reflective polarizer. The reflective polarizer is supported over the tiltable reflector and configured to receive and redirect a light beam towards the tiltable reflector for scanning the light beam. A projector includes the beam scanner and a light source providing a light beam. The light beam may be modulated in brightness, color, or polarization synchronously with tilting the reflector, thereby forming an image in angular domain after propagating through a pupil-replicating waveguide. At least one folding mirror may be provided for directing the light beam from the light source around the pupil-replicating waveguide, resulting in a compact overall configuration.

The computing system obtains user data pertaining to performance of the activity by the user. The computing system generates a user-customized portion of the instructional media based upon the user data and a computer-implemented model. The computing system causes the user-customized portion to be played on the device to the user, where the device emits audible words reproduced in a voice of the instructor, where the audible words are based upon the user data, and further where the device displays generated images of the instructor depicting the instructor speaking the audible words as the device emits the audible words.

Abstract: A method of presenting computer-generated search result information can include receiving a search request from a client computer; identifying a plurality of search results responsive to the search request; ranking the plurality of search results using content in one or more web notebooks; and providing the ranked plurality of search results for presentation in the client computer. Using the content can include determining whether at least one of a title, a heading, clipped content, metadata or a user-annotation in at least one web notebook relates to the search request and, if so, increasing a ranking of at least one search result referenced by the at least one web notebook.

The method may include estimating, based on a first signal-phase in a plurality of signal-phases associated with an input signal, a first channel impulse response; estimating, based on a second signal-phase in the plurality of signal-phases, a second channel impulse response; selecting, based on at least one characteristic of the estimated first channel impulse response and the estimated second channel impulse response, a signal-phase from the plurality of signal-phases; equalizing, based on the selected signal phase, the input signal to produce an equalized signal; and outputting, to a symbol detector, the equalized signal.
