Abstract: Architectures and techniques for radar signaling in emergency scenarios. A high-frequency radio signal in a first frequency range from a remote device with a local radio frequency (RF) receiver. The received radio signal in the first frequency range is converted to a corresponding signal in a second and lower frequency range. Signal phase information in the lower frequency signal is modified to generate a modified signal in the lower frequency range. The modified signal in the lower frequency range is converted to the first frequency range. The modified signal in the first frequency range is transmitted to the remote device with an RF transmitter.

Abstract: An inorganic coating may be applied to bond optically scattering particles or components. Optically scattering particles bonded via the inorganic coating may form a three dimensional film which can receive a light emission, convert, and emit the light emission with one or more changed properties. The inorganic coating may be deposited using a low-pressure deposition technique such as an atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique. Two or more components, such as an LED and a ceramic phosphor layer may be bonded together by depositing an inorganic coating using the ALD technique.

  • Publication number: 20230209066
Abstract: Techniques are described for efficiently encoding video data by skipping evaluation of certain encoding modes based on various evaluation criteria. In some solutions, intra-block evaluation is performed in a specific order during encoding, and depending on encoding cost calculations of potential intra-block encoding modes, evaluation of some of the potential modes can be skipped. In some solutions, some encoding modes can be skipped depending on whether blocks are simple (e.g., simple vertical, simple horizontal, or both) or non-simple. In some solutions, various criteria are applied to determine whether chroma-from-luma mode evaluation can be skipped. The various solutions can be used independently and/or in combination.

  • Publication number: 20230205660
Abstract: A probabilistic set sketching data structure for the estimation of properties of individual sets, like cardinality, as well as joint parameters describing relations between different sets, like similarity scores or intersection cardinalities. The memory size of the proposed sketch is widely independent of the size of the observed sets and may be chosen primarily based on the desired estimation error. A tuning parameter controls the amount of information stored in the sketch regarding the content of the monitored set and may be used to trade joint parameter estimation accuracy for sketch size. Improved estimation algorithms are proposed for both cardinality and joint quantities. Especially the proposed joint quantity estimation has considerable advantages, as it reduces the problem of estimating three dependent parameters, like the cardinalities of intersections and the two complements to the estimation of only one parameter, like the Jaccard coefficient.
