Abstract: In some implementations, a device may detect edges in an image, and may identify, based on the edges, a rectangle that bounds a document in the image. The device may detect lines in the image, and may identify edge candidate lines by discarding one or more of the lines. The device may identify intersection points where lines, included in the edge candidate lines, intersect with one another. The device may identify corner candidate points by discarding one or more points included in the intersection points, and may identify a corner point included in the corner candidate points. The corner point may be a point, included in the corner candidate points, that is closest to one corner of the bounding rectangle. Abstract: Provided herein are systems, devices and methods for the rapid and accurate measurement of analytes by assay of binding events, by direct, digital measurement of individually resolved analyte/reporter binding events. The digital molecular assay systems, devices and methods disclosed herein are capable of particle-by-particle readout using optical reporter molecules that detect and report the binding of a single analyte molecule, and report each such binding in binary format. Such digital molecular assay systems, devices and methods are useful in a variety of applications, such as on mobile electronic devices for use in the field.
Abstract: A secure digital communications method is provided in which a Certificate Authority generates an improved RSA key pair having a modulus, a public key exponent, a public key, and a private key. The public key exponent can contain descriptive attributes and a digital signature. The digital signature can be responsive to the descriptive attributes and the modulus. A secure session can be established between a first system and a second system, within a secure digital communication protocol. The second system can verify the digital signature to authenticate the public key.
Abstract: Obtaining a consistent set of snapshots of a group of storage volumes includes obtaining a plurality of snapshots, each of the snapshots being for one of the volumes, determining if there are any specific write operations to at least one volume that occurred after obtaining a first one of the snapshots and before obtaining a last of the snapshots, if there are any specific write operations, discarding the plurality of snapshots, and, if there are no specific write operations, designating the plurality of snapshots as the consistent set of snapshots. Obtaining a consistent set of snapshots may include repeatedly obtaining a plurality of snapshots and determining if there are specific write operations until either a particular condition is met or there are no specific write operations determined. The particular condition may be exceeding a predetermined number of iterations or a predetermined time limit.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to optical systems and methods of their operation. An example optical system includes an optical component and one or more light sources configured to emit a light signal. The light signal interacts with the optical component so as to provide an interaction light signal. The optical system also includes a detector configured to detect at least a portion of the interaction light signal as a detected light signal. The optical system additionally includes a controller configured to carry out operations including causing the one or more light sources to emit the light signal and receiving the detected light signal from the detector. The operations also include determining, based on the detected light signal, that one or more defects are associated with the optical component.

Abstract: Certain splice arrangements include first and second laminate structures bonded around a splice location at which two or more optical fibers are spliced (e.g., fusion spliced) together. The first and second laminate structures each include a flexible polymeric sheet and a heat activated adhesive layer carried by the flexible polymeric sheet. Other splice arrangements include a protective barrier disposed about an optical splice. The protective barrier includes first and second protective layers bonded around the optical splice. Each protective layer include a film carrying an adhesive. The protective barrier may be sufficiently flexible to not restrict flexing the optical fibers at the splice location. Example splice arrangements have thicknesses of less than or equal to 1000 microns, or 900 microns, or 800 microns, or 700 microns, or 600 microns or 500 microns.

Abstract: A smart lawnmower and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the smart lawnmower, in a real world-to-simulated world (“real-to-sim”) training phase, the smart lawnmower constructs a simulated environment corresponding to a mowing-relevant portion of a real-world environment relative to semantic information, which may include received location signalization at an antenna In a simulated world-to-real world (“sim-to-real”) mowing phase, a mowing policy is applied to control the cutting subsystem and the drive subsystem in response to the semantic information, which may include the location signalization. In each of the real-to-sim training phase and the sim-to-real mowing phase, the smart lawnmower may provide a user interface including the simulated environment. Further, in the sim-to-real mowing phase, the smart lawnmower may synchronize the real world and the simulated world.
Abstract: A pillow system for use by a user laying on their back, such as for use after a mastectomy or other surgery. The pillow system provides a cushioning and supportive system. In one particular implementation, the pillow system has two elongate side pillows for placing under and extending from at least a user's shoulders to the user's knees. The two side pillows have an inner edge that includes two concave regions, thus when the two pillows are placed next to or alongside each other, two generally void areas are formed. The pillow system may include a head pillow and/or a support pillow(s), such as a wedge-shaped pillow.
Abstract: A structure for positioning a body part includes a support base, and a shell frame having an inner surface configured to a shape of the body part. The shell frame is further configured to ride upon the support base, or upon a carriage that further rides upon the support base, to enable a pitch and/or a roll of the shell frame to be adjusted relative to the support base.
