Abstract: The described methods and systems decrease instances of distracted driving, encourage more frequent use of vehicle tracking services, and generally improve the risk profile of a driver and vehicle. These benefits are achieved by way of a vehicle computer system that incentivizes users to place mobile devices in a do-not-disturb (DND) mode and to activate vehicle tracking services. The vehicle computer system encourages these behaviors by enabling content delivery for devices within the vehicle based on the status of the mobile device(s) and the status of the vehicle tracking service(s). Specifically, the content delivery may comprise data for providing a gamified user interface within the vehicle.

Abstract: A system according to one embodiment includes a first computing device comprising ultra-wideband communication circuitry, and a second computing device comprising ultra-wideband communication circuitry configured to communicate with the ultra-wideband communication circuitry of the first computing device to determine the angle and distance of the first computing device relative to the second computing device.

Abstract: A system for beverage cartridge preparation allows users to self-select, fill, and seal single use cartridges with improved convenience and for long term storage. The system includes a cartridge handling system and a cartridge filling system operative relative to a cartridge to be filled. The cartridge handling system includes mobility relative to operative members of the cartridge filling system and one or more single use beverage cartridges. Adaptive cartridge shapes and components are provided to fit a particular preparation system. Adaptive and alternative mechanisms for the systems and aspects herein allow convenient manual filling, packing, and sealing of a plurality of single cartridges.

Abstract: A disposable liner for use with a reusable infant's bathtub. A workable liner may be formed from two parallel flat sheets of plastic film, bonded together around an outside boundary. The liner is disposable in a flat configuration of minimum thickness, and can then be folded to form a space-efficient rectangular package of substantially constant thickness. Certain liners may include a backrest cushion.

Abstract: Systems and methods that provide an improved mechanism for attaching a sensor wire to a bus bar in a battery module are disclosed. A battery module according to the present disclosure may include a bus bar comprising a rivet hole and a plurality of battery cells electrically coupled to the bus bar. The battery module may also include a sensor wire comprising a terminal end, as well as a blind rivet passing through the rivet hole of the bus bar and coupling the bus bar to the terminal end of the sensor wire. Attaching the sensor wire to the bus bar with a blind rivet may provide one or more of the following mechanical advantages: fast assembly, robustness for low power applications, elimination of the need to wait for an adhesive to cure, and elimination of the need for double-sided access of the bus bar.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for synchronizing sensor data of an autonomous driving vehicle includes determining, by a processing device of an inertial navigation system (INS), that global navigation satellite system (GNSS) data is unavailable and identifying an alternative source of time information. The method further includes retrieving time information from the alternative source and synchronizing sensor data with the time information from the alternative source of time information.

Abstract: A Scotch yoke actuator includes a housing formed with four piston bores spaced equally 90° from each other, a shaft with four yokes, each of the yokes having a slot, and four pistons including two pairs of 180° opposing pistons, one pair of the opposing pistons being orthogonal to the other pair of the opposing pistons. Each of the pistons is arranged for linear motion in one of the piston bores. Each of the pistons includes a piston rod which includes a piston pin which is slidable in the slot. Linear motion of the pistons in the piston bores causes rotation of the shaft.

Abstract: An augmented reality head-up display system for displaying graphics upon a windscreen of a vehicle includes one or more image-capturing devices that capture image data of an environment surrounding the vehicle, a graphic projection device for generating images upon the windscreen of the vehicle, and a controller in electronic communication with the one or more image-capturing devices and the graphic projection device. The controller executes instructions to receive object detection data indicating a current position of objects located within the environment surrounding the vehicle. The controller executes instructions to compare the current position of the objects within the environment with a visual location of the objects within the environment determined based on the image data to identify a visually occluded object located within the environment. In response to identifying the visually occluded object, the controller determines a contextual graphic that signifies the visually occluded object.

Abstract: A display system for a vehicle includes a display unit mounted to the vehicle and is selectively operable in a first mode as a holographic display and in a second mode as a mirror. Holographic images may include rear view images obtained from a camera or computer generated graphics. Holographic images are displayed at a virtual image plane behind the display to reduce the operator's eyes accommodation.

Abstract: The disclosed eye-tracking systems may include a visible light display having visible light pixels, at least one infrared pixel positioned within bounds of the visible light display, and an infrared sensor positioned and configured to detect infrared light originating from the at least one infrared pixel and reflected from an eye of the user. Related head-mounted display systems and methods for eye tracking are also disclosed.

Abstract: Innovations in syntax and semantics of coded picture buffer removal delay (“CPBRD”) values potentially simplify splicing operations. For example, a video encoder sets a CPBRD value for a current picture that indicates an increment value relative to a nominal coded picture buffer removal time of a preceding picture in decoding order, regardless of whether the preceding picture has a buffering period SEI message. The encoder can signal the CPBRD value according to a single-value approach in which a flag indicates how to interpret the CPBRD value, according to a two-value approach in which another CPBRD value (having a different interpretation) is also signaled, or according to a two-value approach that uses a flag and a delta value. A corresponding video decoder receives and parses the CPBRD value for the current picture. A splicing tool can perform simple concatenation operations to splice bitstreams using the CPBRD value for the current picture.

Abstract: Apparatuses and techniques are described for programming a multi-tier block in which sub-blocks are arranged in respective tiers. When a program operation involves the source-side sub-block, the NAND strings are pre-charged from the source line. When a program operation involves the drain-side sub-block, the NAND strings are pre-charged from the bit line. When a program operation involves an interior sub-block, the NAND strings can be pre-charged from the bit line if all sub-blocks on the drain side of the interior sub-block are erased, or from the source line if all sub-blocks on the source side of the interior sub-block are erased. A table can be provided which identifies free blocks, free sub-blocks and a corresponding program order. If such a table is not available, the sub-blocks can be read to determine whether they are programmed.
