Abstract: Generating data to provide an animated visual representation is disclosed. A method comprises receiving input data obtained by a first sensor system measuring information about at least one target person. One data unit is selected from a database comprising a plurality of the data units. Each data unit comprises information about a reference person in a reference state measured at a previous time by the first sensor system or by a second sensor system. The information in each data unit allows generation of an animated visual representation of the reference person in the reference state. The reference state is different for each of the data units. The selected data unit and the input data are used to generate output data usable to provide an animated visual representation corresponding to the target person and synchronized with activity of the target person measured by the first sensor system.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide swallowable devices, preparations and methods for delivering drugs and other therapeutic agents within the GI tract. Many embodiments provide a swallowable device for delivering the agents. Particular embodiments provide a swallowable device such as a capsule for delivering drugs into the intestinal wall or other GI lumen. Embodiments also provide various drug preparations that are configured to be contained within the capsule, advanced from the capsule into the intestinal wall and degrade to release the drug into the bloodstream to produce a therapeutic effect. The preparation can be operably coupled to delivery means having a first configuration where the preparation is contained in the capsule and a second configuration where the preparation is advanced out of the capsule into the intestinal wall. Embodiments of the invention are particularly useful for the delivery of drugs which are poorly absorbed, tolerated and/or degraded within the GI tract.
Abstract: An electromagnetic fuel injection valve includes a coupling between an armature and the valve member that allows limited relative movement of the valve member and armature in both the opening and closing directions of the valve member. An injector body includes a non-magnetic section to focus magnetic flux and attractive force through the armature and pole. A modular power group reduces the cost of assembly and includes a plastic encapsulated coil that is protected from environmental moisture and corrosion. A valve seat incorporates a valve seal which improves fuel flow past the valve member when the fuel injection valve is in the open position.
Abstract: The invention provides novel methods for liquid-mediated delivery of pollen grains to enclosed stigmas in recipient female flowers. For example, methods for liquid-mediated pollination are provided. The methods provided include collecting pollen from a donor plant, suspending the collected pollen in a liquid solution, and introducing said solution to an enclosed stigma of a recipient flower bud on a recipient plant, thereby pollinating the flower with the pollen from the donor plant.
Abstract: A blender system includes a container having a rotatable blade assembly therein, a lid covering an open end of the container, and a base with a motorized unit. When the container is coupled with the base, the motorized unit is adapted to drive rotation of the rotatable blade assembly. The lid includes a hinged actuator lever adapted to actuate the motorized unit. A detent extends from the hinged actuator lever and passes through a series of apertures and presses against a slidable actuator shaft disposed in the container and maintained in its position by a spring force, thereby depressing a switch for the motorized unit. A rotatable blade system includes cutting blade(s) and crushing blade(s). The crushing blade extends longitudinally outwardly from a hub. When the hub rotates in a first direction or second direction opposite the first direction, a face of the crushing blade is leading or trailing, respectively.

Abstract: The present invention includes a multivalent glycan microarray for detection of glycan-binding proteins. The multivalent glycan microarray allows a multivalent presentation of glycan on a microarray substrate, which can enhance binding of the glycan binding protein to the glycan microarray. The multivalent microarray includes a solid substrate having one or more branched polymers bonded to it via one or more silane-based linker reagents. The branched polymer in turn is bonded to a glycan, via one or more bifunctional linkers to form the multivalent glycan microarray. Nonspecific binding of glycan binding proteins to the multivalent glycan microarray can be reduced by using a blocking reagent coated on to the microarray substrate, which includes a polyethylene glycol surfactant attached to the solid substrate via a self-crosslinking azido-functionalized silane. Methods for making multivalent glycan microarrays and methods for using same to detect glycan-binding proteins are also disclosed.
