Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to method embodiments for making anhydrous lanthanide halide complexes. At least some embodiments comprise making a lanthanide halide complex by reacting a lanthanide metal oxide with an oxygen scavenger and catalyst in the presence of a donor solvent. The method is selective toward light lanthanide metal oxides and thus further provides a method for separating light lanthanide metal oxides from heavy lanthanide metal oxides, actinide oxides, and non-lanthanide rare earth element oxides.

Abstract: A brake pad for a motor vehicle is provided. The brake pad includes a body having an upper edge and a lower edge. The upper edge is configured for positioning relative to an outer diameter of a rotor. The brake pad also includes a friction surface extending between the upper edge and the lower edge for engaging the rotor. The brake pad further includes a relieved portion located along a section of the upper edge. The relieved portion is configured to reduce squeal noise caused by tangential modes of the rotor, during engagement of the brake pad with the rotor, by minimizing contact between the friction surface of the brake pad and the outer diameter of the rotor at an area of the rotor having a potential for high modal displacement in a tangential direction.

Abstract: A device for monitoring the level or amount of a material within a container is provided. The device includes a detection mechanism that can be a direct detection mechanism or an indirect detection mechanism. When the detection mechanism senses an upper level of the substance in the container that is below a predetermined lower limit for the substance, the mechanism operates an alarm mechanism to emit an alarm to alert an individual to the low level of the substance within the container. The alarm can wirelessly communicate a salt level state to a wireless network or a device on a wireless network that can transmit the status through the Internet to any remote location. In one aspect, the alarm can be sent on a mesh network with a device that can transmit the status and other conditions through the Internet and to an application executing on a mobile device.
Abstract: A firearm including a barrel, receiver, indirect gas system and an adjustable gas block designed to interface with the indirect gas system is provided. Four indexable positions of adjustment are provided for on the adjustable gas block. Positions of adjustment are selected based on the use of a silencer, use of under-powered ammunition, the presence of un-burnt powder and debris in the host firearms operating system, or if the weapon is being fired under “ideal” circumstances. The provided gas block is designed to function with an indirect gas operating system. Excess gas from the operating system is not vented from the gas block thereby generating excess flash and sound. No tool is required to manipulate the adjustment mechanism of the gas.
Abstract: The present disclosure includes J-Gate adaptor assemblies for motorcycle clutch levers and related systems and methods. In one illustrative embodiment, a bracket on a side of a motorcycle serves as fulcrum for a lever rod mounted thereon via a heim joint. A lower end of the rod is attached to a clutch control cable. The rod extends upwardly, through a guide member with a guide channel formed as elongated slot extending in a first direction to a bend portion that extends in another direction to a “rest portion.” The rod may be levered in one direction in the guide channel to engage the clutch and in the opposite direction to disengage it. The rod may be held in the “rest” portion of the channel to retain the clutch in a disengaged position. Conversion kits and methods of converting and adapting motorcycles for using these types of assemblies are also included.
Abstract: A motor controller is described that is coupled to a drive motor and a battery pack of a vehicle. The motor controller is configured to determine a maximum discharge current of the battery pack and a rotational velocity of the drive motor. Based on the determined rotational velocity of the drive motor, the motor controller is configured to identify a curve that defines a relationship between the maximum discharge current of the battery pack and a drive current limit of the motor controller. Based on the identified curve and the determined maximum discharge current of the battery pack, the motor controller is configured to determine the drive current limit of the motor controller. The motor controller is further configured to convert a discharge current from the battery pack to a drive current subject to the determined drive current limit and supply the drive current to the drive motor.

The running bike includes a front fork rotatably engaged with a front wheel, a rear fork rotatably engaged with a rear wheel, the rear fork having an upper portion and a lower portion, and a handlebar rotatably engaged with the front fork for steering the running bike. A frame extends between and connects the front fork and the rear fork. The frame includes a down tube having a first end connected to the front fork and a second end opposite the first end and positioned adjacent the rear fork, a top tube connected to and extending between the down tube and the upper portion of the rear fork, and a drivetrain receiving region defined as an area rearward of the down tube, forward of the rear wheel, and below the top tube.

Abstract: A machine for improving content delivery generates a graph representing a personalized conversational flow for sequenced delivery of digital content. The graph includes nodes representing interactive dialogues between a machine and a user, and edges that connect the nodes. The machine causes display of a user interface including a prompt related to job-seeking guidance. The machine, based on a first action in response to the prompt, dynamically adjusts the graph, the dynamic adjusting including selecting a first node. The machine generates and causes display of a first incentive content item, and a first call-to-action content item. The machine, in response to a second action received in response to the first call-to action content item, dynamically selects an edge connecting the first node and a further node. The dynamic selecting of the edge results in display of a further incentive content item, and a further call-to-action content item.

Abstract: A pupil-replicating waveguide includes a high-index substrate and a low-index substrate coupled by an intermediate layer between the substrates. The refractive index of the intermediate layer is lower than the refractive index of the low-index substrate. The intermediate layer prevents highly oblique rays of image light from entering the low-index substrate, thereby reducing intensity drops in the field of view conveyed by the pupil-replicating waveguide, the intensity drops caused by insufficient replication of the highly oblique rays in the low-index substrate.

Abstract: An ego vehicle includes decider modules and a grader module coupled to a resolver module. The decider modules generate trajectory decisions at a current time, generate a current two-dimensional slice of a flat space around the ego vehicle, generate future two-dimensional slices of the flat space by projecting the current two-dimensional slice of the flat space forward in time, and generate a three-dimensional state space by stacking the current two-dimensional slice and the future two-dimensional slices. The grader module generates rewards for the trajectory decisions based on a recent behavior of an ego vehicle. The resolver module selects a final trajectory decision for the ego vehicle from the trajectory decisions based on the three-dimensional state space and the rewards. The current two-dimensional slice includes a current ego vehicle location and current neighboring vehicle locations. The future two-dimensional slices include future ego vehicle locations and future neighboring vehicle locations.
