Abstract: This document describes apparatuses, systems, and techniques directed to a modular system validation platform for computing devices. The modular system validation platform includes an interface board for interfacing a host with a peripheral. The interface board includes an apparatus identifier, a first connector configured to couple to the host, and a second connector configured to couple to the peripheral. The interface board comprises interface circuitry that can be reconfigured to enable different peripherals to operate with the host using the same interface board. The interface circuitry enables the interoperability between the host and the peripheral by distributing power from the host to the peripheral and facilitating communications between the host and the peripheral. By using the reconfigurable interface board to test and troubleshoot the interoperability of the processor and the peripheral, resources, time and costs spent during the design and testing phases of computing devices may be minimized.

Abstract: Methods and systems for detecting partial discharge in a stator for an electric motor are provided. An exemplary method includes applying a high voltage AC sinewave input signal to the stator and energizing at least one winding therein. The method includes sensing a first resulting load signal occurring in the stator with a first device and filtering the first resulting load signal to form a first high frequency signal indicating any partial discharge (PD) voltage occurring in the stator. The method also includes sensing a second resulting load signal occurring in the stator with a second device and filtering the second resulting load signal to form a second high frequency signal indicating any partial discharge voltage occurring in the stator. Further, the method includes processing the first and second high frequency signals to form a processed signal indicating whether partial discharge occurred.

Abstract: An electronic bicycle component includes a memory configured to store a first communication protocol and a second communication protocol, and a processor. The processor is configured, within a pairing session, to generate one or more first messages based on the first communication protocol, broadcast the one or more first messages, and identify whether a first response is received from another electronic bicycle component within a predetermined time period. The predetermined time period is after the broadcast of a first message of the one or more first messages. The response is a response to the broadcast one or more first messages. When, based on the identification, the response is not received within the predetermined time period, the processor is further configured to generate one or more second messages based on the second communication protocol, and broadcast the one or more second messages.

Abstract: Thermoelectric enhanced hybrid heat pump systems are provided herein. A compressor increases the pressure of refrigerant within tubing. A first heat exchanger is downstream of the compressor and changes enthalpy of first fluid flow through heat exchange with refrigerant. A second heat exchanger changes enthalpy of second fluid flow through heat exchange with refrigerant. A thermoelectric device is downstream of the first heat exchanger and reduces refrigerant temperature. Expansion valves are downstream of the thermoelectric device and first heat exchanger, respectively located on first and second sides of the thermoelectric device, and expand refrigerant and reduce refrigerant pressure while conserving refrigerant enthalpy. At least one valve reverses refrigerant flow within the tubing without changing compressor operation. A control system controls the thermoelectric device and at least one valve to switch the heat pump system from heating mode to cooling mode and from cooling mode to heating mode.
