Abstract: A sleeping bag may include a top flap with a head opening for the user's head to fit through and the opening may form a comfortable seal around the user's neck. The top flap may transition over the user's shoulders, transition down underneath the user's head, and extend beyond the top of the user's head. Advantageously, the sleeping bag may offer a unique way to comfortably close the top of a sleeping bag to prevent air draft and heat loss. The sleeping bag may allow users to more comfortably sleep in multiple positions, including side sleepers, stomach sleepers, back sleepers, fetal sleepers, etc. The sleeping bag may provide a soft place to lay one's head while allowing the user to sleep in a position with their hands and arms above their shoulders, while still keeping them under cover of the top layer of the sleeping bag.
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling blood pressure via electrical stimulation of the heart are disclosed. Embodiments may include at least two different stimulation patterns, each configured to reduce blood pressure to a different degree, and may alternate between stimulation patterns based on the need of a patient, for example, alternating between day and night or between periods of strenuous and light activity. Some embodiments may take advantage of a slow baroreflex response that occurs after treatment is stopped, suspending treatment for extended periods, and then resuming treatment before blood pressure levels reach pretreatment values. Embodiments may control blood pressure by controlling atrial pressure and atrial stretch.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to electromagnetic absorbing materials, and, more particularly, to a flocked carbon fiber composite material and methods for forming thereof. The flocked carbon fiber material comprises electrostatically applied carbon fibers, having a Z-plane component; electromagnetic modifiers; a substrate; a bonding agent; and an encapsulation agent. The method for forming said flocked carbon fiber composite material comprises preparing carbon fiber strands; separating carbon fiber strand clumps into carbon fiber strands; separating carbon fiber strands into carbon fibers; applying a bonding agent to a substrate; and electrostatically applying the carbon fibers to the substrate. The flocking device used to perform this method comprises an insulative section; a high voltage power source; a container attached to the insulative section; and a filtering section attached to the container.
Abstract: Methods and systems for a locking mechanism in an inter-axle differential are provided. A vehicle system, in one example, includes an electric motor coupled to a clutch assembly in a locking mechanism of an inter-axle differential coupled to a first axle and a second axle, the clutch assembly is configured to selectively disengage the locking mechanism, and in the disengaged configuration the locking mechanism permits speed differentiation between the first and second axles. The system further includes an electric motor brake coupled to the electric motor and configured to selectively apply a brake torque to the electric motor and the electric motor is configured to actuate the clutch assembly.

Abstract: A blast-resistant escape window for an armored combat ground vehicle has a cassette which fits within, and closes, a though-opening in a frame of a windscreen. Two releasable lever-operated locking mechanisms for releasably locking the cassette in the through-opening are mounted on the windscreen at opposite sides of the through-opening. The cassette can to be pushed out of the through-opening when the locking mechanisms have been operated to release the cassette from being locked to the windscreen, thereby providing an alternative exit for personnel in the vehicle.

Abstract: A method and system for providing replacement text segments for a given text segment may include receiving a request to provide the replacement text segment for the text segment in the document, examining a content characteristic of the document, and examining at least one of user-specific information, organization-specific information, or non-linguistic features of the document, before identifying at least one replacement text segment for the text segment, via a machine translation system, based on the content characteristic of the document and at least one of the user-specific information, the organization-specific information, or the non-linguistic features of the document. The method and system may include providing the identified replacement text segment for display to a user, receiving an input indicating a user's selection of the identified replacement text segment, and upon receiving the input, replacing the text segment in the document with the identified replacement text segment.

Abstract: A computer-implemented technique uses a machine-trained model to convert input information provided by a user into a natural language expression and a semantic vector. The semantic vector provides a distributed representation of the natural language expression. The technique then uses the generated semantic vector to find a target data record having a target semantic vector that is within a prescribed distance to the generated semantic vector. The technique then outputs at least a target natural language expression that is associated with the target data record. The target data record is produced in an offline process that converts one or more attribute values in an existing structured data record into the target semantic vector and the target natural language expression. Also described herein is a technique for training the machine-trained model and for updating existing collections of data records using the machine-trained model.
Abstract: Systems and methods for indirect advertising are disclosed. A real target is identified. Locations visited by the real target are identified. Secondary targets known to visit at least one of the identified locations are identified. A message designed to influence the real target is pushed to the secondary targets such that the real target may be influenced through word-of-mouth interaction with the secondary targets and led to believe that a larger phenomenon is occurring.
Abstract: A light emitting device comprises a semiconductor diode structure configured to emit light, a substrate that is transparent to light emitted by the semiconductor diode structure, and a reflective nanostructured layer. The reflective nanostructured layer may be disposed on or adjacent to a bottom surface of the substrate and configured to reflect toward and through a side wall surface of the substrate light that is emitted by the semiconductor structure and incident on the reflective nanostructured layer at angles at or near perpendicular incidence. Alternatively, the reflective nanostructured layer may be disposed on or adjacent to at least one sidewall surface of the substrate and configured to reflect toward and through the bottom surface of the substrate light that is emitted by the semiconductor structure and incident on the reflective nanostructured layer at angles at or near perpendicular incidence.
