Abstract: An antenna may include a tower extending vertically upward from a ground location, a first set of elongate antenna elements extending outwardly from the tower at a first height above the ground location, and a second set of elongate antenna elements extending outwardly from the tower at a second height above the ground location and below the first height. In some embodiments, at least one elongate antenna element of the first and second sets of elongate antenna elements may be electrically coupled to the ground location. A radio frequency (RF) feed may be electrically coupled to the first and second sets of elongate antenna elements.

Abstract: An electric machine rotor includes a core, a first end plate, a second end plate, and a shaft. The core defines an internal cavity. The first and second end plates each define a central orifice and are respectively secured to opposing axial ends of the core. The shaft is disposed within the cavity and engages the first and second end plates within the central orifices to facilitate synchronized rotation of and torque transfer between the core and shaft.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a cooling tower that has a cooling tower structure having fill material supported by the cooling tower structure and configured to receive heated process fluid and a motor mounted to the cooling tower structure. The motor has a casing and a rotatable shaft and is sealed to prevent fluids, moisture, foreign particles and contaminants from entering the casing. A fan is connected to the rotatable shaft of the motor. Rotation of the rotatable shaft rotates the fan thereby inducing an upward moving mass flow of cool air through the fill material. A basin is attached to the cooling tower structure for collecting cooled fluid. A fluid distribution system distributes the cooled fluid in the basin.

Abstract: A breath alcohol device calibration system includes a computerized calibration module operable to calibrate a breath alcohol device, and an interface operable to couple the breath alcohol device to a remote server. The interface uses a connection employing a cryptographic function such that data stored on the breath alcohol device can be securely transferred from the breath alcohol device to the remote server using the calibration system. The interface is further operable to transfer data stored on the breath alcohol device from the breath alcohol device to the remote server directly without storing the data in nonvolatile storage on the calibration station.

Abstract: A system for sampling a liquid includes a sample fluid conduit including a membrane having pores. The membrane prevents the passage of the sample liquid through the pores at a first pressure of the sample liquid in the sample fluid conduit. A surface sampling capture probe has a distal end. The capture probe includes a solvent supply conduit and a solvent exhaust conduit. A solvent composition flowing at the distal end of the capture probe establishes a liquid junction with the membrane and establishes a second pressure within the liquid junction at the membrane. The second pressure is lower than the first pressure. Sample liquid will be drawn through the pores of the membrane by the second pressure at the liquid junction. A method for sampling a liquid and for performing chemical analysis on a liquid are also disclosed.

Abstract: The disclosed inventions include personal Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV's) and UAV universal docking ports “docking ports” to be incorporated into and/or attached to headwear, including helmets, hard hats and hats and face masks, as well as footwear including boots and shoes, clothing and outerwear, devices, gear and equipment, land, air, water and space vehicles, buildings, wireless towers and other mobile or stationary objects and surfaces referred to collectively as “docking stations”. A docking station may have one or more docking ports for docking, networking and charging or refueling compact personal UAVs, and for providing data communications between said UAVs and other electronic devices that remain with the person while the UAV is in flight or driving or landed on terrain. Said docking ports may also incorporate wireless power transmission for remote wireless charging of one or more UAV's.

Abstract: A pump system includes a submersible pump and a filter. The pump has a housing, an intake, and a discharge. The filter includes a filter housing that releasably engages the pump and that overlies the intake of the pump. The filter housing has an intake, an outlet located between the intake of the filter housing and the intake of the pump. A filter chamber is located upstream of the outlet of the filter housing and is configured to receive filter media. The outlet of the filter housing is disposed inline with the intake of the pump. The coupling may comprise a latch that clips or snaps onto part of the pump, releasably attaching the filter housing to the pump. The latch may engage with opposite sides of the pump when releasably attaching the filter housing to the pump. The latch may include a plurality of spaced apart snaps that snap onto the pump.

Abstract: A system and method for recording, authenticating and verifying transactions of physical items between transacting parties. The system may include memory storing a digital ledger comprising a list of identifiers for a plurality of physical items, each physical item corresponding to a different respective identifier, each identifier being linked in the digital ledger to a public key of an owner of the corresponding physical item, and the list of identifiers and linked public keys being distributed among a plurality of blocks sequentially connected to one another in the digital ledger. The system may also include one or more processors configured to receive a cryptographically signed message including information regarding a transaction of a physical item, including the corresponding identifier of the physical item derived from scanning a label affixed to the physical. The system may verify the message and incorporate the information regarding the transaction into the digital ledger.

Abstract: This disclosure provides a halogenated activated carbon composition comprising carbon, a halogenated compound and a salt. In some embodiments, the halogenated compound and the salt comprise a naturally occurring salt mixture, as may be obtained from ocean water, salt lake water, rock salt, salt brine wells, for example. In some embodiments, the naturally occurring salt mixture comprises Dead Sea salt.

Abstract: A computer system includes a BMC and a host of the BMC. The BMC receives a first message from a first remote device on a management network. The BMC determines whether the first message is directed to a storage service or fabric service executed on a main processor of a storage controller of the host. The host is a storage device. The storage controller includes an RDMA controller in communication with the main processor through an internal communication channel of the storage controller. The RDMA controller is managed by the storage service. The BMC extracts a service management command from the first message, when the first message is directed to the storage service or fabric service. The BMC sends, through a BMC communication channel established for communicating baseboard management commands between the BMC and the host, a second message containing the service management command to the host.

Abstract: Time projection chambers are useful for high energy particle physics, nuclear physics, and astronomy. To enhance the particle detection efficiency and performance of the projection chambers functional bilayer thin film coatings based on the atomic layer deposition method are utilized. Coating material selection is based on Auger neutralization process ion induced electron emission from metallic surfaces (e.g., Mo or W) combined with a high secondary electron emission coefficient. Application of high secondary electron emission materials (e.g., MgO and CaF2) enhances the multiplication of these emitted electrons from ion induction processes. Therefore, using suitable bilayer coatings the overall TPC signal detection efficiency can be increased.

Abstract: Data stream processing is performed. For instance, a method includes: in response to a query request on an input data stream, determining data labels for input data items in the input data stream, the data labels at least indicating a first matching relationship between the input data items and a first query condition of the query request; determining an output data stream corresponding to the input data stream, the output data stream including output data items corresponding to the input data items, and each output data item having a data label; and determining query information corresponding to the query request based on the output data stream. In this way, it is possible to respond to real-time query requests for data streams.

Abstract: An adaptor for incorporating a function of an Open Compute Project (OCP) mezzanine card into a storage device includes a framework, a baseboard mounted to the framework and arranged to have the Open Compute Project (OCP) mezzanine card mounted thereon, an adapting part on the baseboard, the adapting part including an insertion slot for receiving a first interface of the OCP mezzanine card, and a connector on the baseboard, the connector configured to connect with the storage device, the baseboard including interconnections between the connector and the adapting part to provide for data exchange between the OCP mezzanine card and the storage device.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for an air intake system. In one example, an air intake system is provided. The air intake system includes a first air inlet duct providing intake air to an engine intake conduit, the first air inlet duct including an opening positioned external to an engine compartment. The air intake system also includes a second air inlet duct positioned upstream of the engine intake conduit and external to the engine compartment, the second air inlet duct including a funnel shaped to flow air to only a portion of an air filter.

Abstract: A quantum computing system is adapted to prepare a cat state in a quantum circuit with fault tolerance t and circuit depth less than or equal to 4+4t by performing a series of operations that includes: performing a sequence of joint parity measurements on individual pairs of neighboring qubits in a series of qubits entangled to form an initial cat state; repeating the sequence of measurements over at least t-rounds; and disentangling a first set of alternating qubits from the initial cat state, the prepared cat state being formed by a remaining second set of alternating qubits, the second set of alternating qubits being interlaced with the first set of alternating qubits along a line of one-dimensional connectivity, the series of operations being sufficient to guarantee that a prepared cat state is has less than or equal to t number of faults.

Abstract: Provided are external fixation horns and clamp for use with struts in conjunction with external bone fixation (EBF) devices. A fixation horn is a cylindrical component intended to connect and provide further fixation locations for a half-pin clamp. A horn can be offered at various angles and lengths to best fit the application and surgeon preference. Prior to securement, the horn is positioned in the desired position and orientation relative to the half-pin clamp. Once in position, a floating collar of the horn is tightened onto the clamp. The collar compresses a serrated face of the horn with a mating serrated face of the clamp. The serrated faces of the horn and half-pin clamp are designed to lock together and resist rotational slippage during use.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed towards methods, systems and apparatuses for providing a human-machine interface and assistant that are particularly useful for financial trading and in researching trading opportunities in marketplaces that are otherwise difficult to research while taking into account a broad context of the query including past queries and specific preferences or restrictions of the user issuing the query. The present disclosure provides tools for interpreting voice queries and iteratively improving, through direct and inferred corrections, the translation and execution of queries for information and trading opportunities.

Abstract: A speaker identification system (“system”) automatically assigns a speaker to voiced segments in a call. The system identifies one or more speakers in a call using one or more speaker-identification parameters. The system processes the call to determine one or more speaker-identification parameters, such as a transcript of the call, a facial image of the speaker, a scene image, which is an image of a scene in which the speaker is located during the call, or textual data associated with the call such as names of the speaker or an organization that are retrieved from the scene images or video data of the call. The system analyzes one or more of the speaker-identification parameters and determines the identity of the speaker. The system then identifies the voice segments associated with the identified speaker and marks the voice segments with the identity of the speaker.
