  • Patent number: 11408985
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods to provide accurate and reliable compact sonar systems for mobile structures. A sonar system includes multiple sensor channels, each comprising a sonar transmitter and a sonar receiver, and a logic device configured to provide control signals and receive sensor signals from the sensor channels. The logic device is configured to provide transmission signals to sonar transducer assemblies, where signal patterns of the transmission signals are differentiated based at least in part on frequency content. Acoustic returns are processed using the signal patterns to reduce inter-channel pickup between the sensor channels. Resulting sonar data and/or imagery may be displayed to a user and/or used to adjust a steering actuator, a propulsion system thrust, and/or other operational systems of the mobile structure.

  • Patent number: 11410617
Abstract: A method for controlling a light source of a display is provided. In the method, maximum frame rates are determined for different portions of video content to be displayed on the display. The light source of the display is controlled to blink according to a blinking frequency when a first portion of the video content having a first maximum frame rate is displayed. First metadata of high dynamic range is received. The light source of the display is controlled to not blink when a second portion of the video content having a second maximum frame rate is displayed. The video content is displayed at the maximum frame rates and in the high dynamic range.

  • Patent number: 11411261
Abstract: Lithium-based and sodium-based batteries and capacitors using metal foil current collectors, coated with porous layers of particles of active electrode materials for producing an electric current, may adapted to produce heat for enhancing output when the cells are required to periodically operate during low ambient temperatures. A self-heating cell may be placed in heat transfer contact with a working cell that is temporarily in a cold environment. Or one or both of the anode current collector and cathode current collectors of a heating cell may be formed with shaped extended portions, uncoated with electrode materials, through which cell current may be passed for resistance heating of the extended current collector areas. These extended current collector areas may be used to heat the working area of the cell in which they are incorporated, or to contact and heat an adjacent working cell.

  • Patent number: 11411798
Abstract: A method, system, and computer readable medium for managing applications on an application execution system are disclosed. On an application server the number of instances of a first application type that are in a busy state is determined. This determination is performed at each respective time interval in a plurality of time intervals. Then, a first running average for the busy state of the first application type is computed based upon the number of instances of the first application type that are in a busy state, at the application server, at each respective time interval. A removal request is sent when the first running average for the busy state meets a first removal criterion. The removal request is a request to remove the application server from a data structure that specifies which of a plurality of application servers accept service requests for the first application type.

  • Patent number: 11411933
Abstract: A brownfield security gateway is configured to support a trusted execution environment (TEE) that employs cryptographic and physical security—which forms a trusted cyber physical system—to protect sensitive transmissions on route to a controllable device. The gateway may be implemented with a System on Chip (SoC) that utilizes an application layer gateway to filter content within a transmission. When the application layer gateway authorizes the transmission, the transmission is forwarded to a trusted peripheral device that is configured with communication transport protocols, and the trusted peripheral device transfers the transmission to the controllable device. The trusted peripheral device and the controllable device are physically protected by, for example, protected distribution systems. Accordingly, the trusted peripheral device functions as a gateway between the SoC and the controllable device.

  • Patent number: 11409094
Abstract: A template-based image analysis system and method are disclosed. A slide is loaded in a high-content image system (HCIS), wherein the slide includes a plurality of reference marks and a plurality of sample locations. An acquired images data store has previously acquired images stored therein. An image acquisition module acquires an image of the slide from the high-content imaging system. A feature identification module develops a binary image of the acquired image, wherein the binary image identifies areas associated with reference marks. A template generation module generates a template in accordance with the previously acquired images and a template alignment module aligns the generate template with the binary image. An offset calculation module determines an offset between the template and the binary image and an image segmentation module determines the coordinates of pixels of the acquired image that are associated with the sample locations in accordance with the calculated offset.

  • Patent number: 11409183
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for controlling the phase shifts produced in a binary corporate tree network of the kind, e.g., that can drive a phased array for steering an optical beam. The method employs a novel phase-wrapping technique in which an entire layer of the binary tree is disabled when the phase added in that layer reaches 2?. With that technique, it is possible to economize on electrical control lines and on the use of electric power, while still maintaining the ability to produce arbitrary phases at the output of the tree network.

  • Patent number: 11406869
Abstract: A method of calibrating a crank arm-mounted power meter includes receiving an angle measurement from a first sensor disposed on a crank arm, the angle measurement corresponding to an angular orientation of the crank arm. A predicted load measurement is then calculated based on the angle measurement and weight data for the crank assembly including the crank arm and stored in memory. A load measurement corresponding to a load on the crank arm is obtained and a zero offset value is then calculated by determining a difference between the predicted load measurement and the load measurement. Power calculation logic for determining power applied to the crank arm is then updated using the zero offset value.

  • Patent number: 11408380
Abstract: Devices for producing vacuum using the Venturi effect have a housing that defines a suction chamber, a motive passageway converging toward the suction chamber, a discharge passageway diverging away from the suction chamber, and a suction passageway having a first port in fluid communication with the suction chamber. Within the suction chamber, a motive exit of the motive passageway is spaced apart a distance from a discharge entrance of the discharge passageway to define a Venturi gap. A fletch that has a first hollow body section that terminates at or proximate a motive exit and a second hollow body section that terminates with a fletch entrance in fluid communication with the suction passageway upstream of the first port is present in the motive passageway. During operation, fluid flow through the motive passageway draws fluid flow through the first port into the suction chamber and through the fletch.
