Abstract: A tracking system and method for tracking tools in and nearby a transportation vehicle is provided. The tracking system comprises a vehicle-based detection unit for optically acquiring tool sets in the vehicle loading space from different angles and providing digital image data as well as corresponding range information. An electronic main controller unit is operatively coupled to a communication receiving unit and communicates with the vehicle-based detection unit and a cloud-based computer system of the tracking system. A mobile computing unit includes an optical camera and a LIDAR sensor device and wirelessly communicates with the electronic main controller unit and the cloud-based computer system. The tool detection and tracking is accomplished by combining an image-based detection employing an artificial neural network in the cloud-based computer system and a signal-based detection employing the short-range wireless network communication means.

Abstract: Healthcare transaction validation systems and methods are presented. Healthcare transactions associated with a stakeholder are compiled into a chain of healthcare transaction blocks. The chain can be considered a chronicle of person's healthcare path through life. When a transaction is conducted, the corresponding healthcare parameters (e.g., inputs, outputs, clinical evidence, outcomes, etc.) are sent to one or more validation devices. The devices establish a validity of the transaction and generate a new block via a proof-of-work principle. Once the new block has been calculated it can be appended to the stakeholder's health care blockchain.

Abstract: A computer network device (such as a switch or a router) that implement a passive snooping communication protocol is described. During operation, the computer network device may receive an instance of a message from a second computer network device in a network via a port (such as a router port) associated with a link between the computer network device and the second computer network device. Based at least in part on the received instance of the message, the computer network device may identify the port as being a type of port (such as a passive neighbor port and a non-edge port in the network), and may not forward the instance of the message to one or more additional computer network devices via one or more additional ports (such as one or more additional router ports).

Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention relate to system and method for controlling data streaming rate in a content distribution network (CDN) based on the network performance measurement. Embodiments of the system involve estimating a maximum stable rate for streaming data and sending a media control packet including the maximum stable rate to a CDN gateway on a user-side device. Based on the maximum stable rate, a media server may adjust the streaming rate of the media file segments. Upon receiving the media control packet, the CDN gateway read the maximum stable rate and may reduce the instantaneous streaming speed if the current streaming rate is higher than the maximum stable rate. Alternatively, in response to the current streaming rate being much less than the maximum stable rate, the media server increases the instantaneous rate.
