Abstract: A bi-directional pneumatic impactor for imparting impact forces to an object. The impactor includes a support structure having at least one grip member and a piston reciprocally moveable along a piston axis. A pressure control system coupled with the support structure and adapted to be connected to a supply of pressurized air. The pressure control system reciprocatingly moves the piston along the piston axis to generate forceful impacts at one or both ends of the reciprocal movement. An impact transfer assembly disposed on the support structure is adapted to be coupled with the object whereby the impact transfer assembly transfers impact forces to the object in the driving and/or the retracting directions. A control spool may be used to control the supply of pressurized air to the piston cylinder. The impact transfer assembly may include a hammer pin extending axially through the piston.
Abstract: One or more guest electronic devices establish electronic communication with a host electronic device. The guest electronic devices transmit requests requesting presentation of media content from an application operating locally on each guest electronic device. The host electronic device arranges the requests in a queue. One or more processors of the host electronic device select a principal request from the queue and initiate the application operating locally on a guest electronic device identified by the principal request, thereby causing delivery of the media content from the guest electronic device identified by the principal request to the host electronic device.
Abstract: Compressing a frame of video includes receiving a frame of a video, identifying a three dimensional (3D) object in the frame, matching the 3D object to a stored 3D object, compressing the frame of the video using a color prediction scheme based on the 3D object and the stored 3D object, and storing the compressed frame with metadata, the metadata identifying the 3D object, indicating a position of the 3D object in the frame of the video and indicating an orientation of the 3D object in the frame of the video.
Abstract: An apparatus controls release of a parking brake of a parking brake system of an associated vehicle. A processor of an electronic control system of the apparatus executes parking brake control logic stored in a non-transient memory device to selectively generate a parking brake release (PBR) signal based on receiving a set of predetermined PBR interlock override signals in an absence of receiving fully all of a set of predetermined PBR interlock standard satisfaction signals, wherein receiving fully all of the set of predetermined PBR interlock standard satisfaction signals causes the processor executing the parking brake control logic to generate the PBR signal. The sets of predetermined PBR interlock override and interlock standard satisfaction signals are mutually different, and the PBR signal is deliverable for use by the associated vehicle to effect the release of the parking brake of the parking brake system of the associated vehicle.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein to perform edge computing in 4G and 5G cores based on application usage. Networks identify highly requested content at an access point and may use network data analytics functions to identify which content is popular in the area served by an access point. The highly requested content may be applications, webpages, or similar content. Once the highly requested content has been identified, tunneling to at least one application server to download the highly requested content occurs. The content may then be stored in a dynamically caching server near the access point. The network data analytics operations to identify highly requested content may be performed on a periodic basis, and content that no longer meets a predetermined threshold may be flushed from the dynamically caching server.
Abstract: One example method for scene-adaptive image quality in surgical video includes receiving a first video frame from an endoscope, the first video frame generated from a first raw image captured by an image sensor of the endoscope and processed by an image signal processing (“ISP”) pipeline having a plurality of ISP parameters; recognizing, using a trained machine learning (“ML”) model, a first scene type or a first scene feature type based on the first video frame; determining a first set of ISP parameters based on the first scene type or the first scene feature type; applying the first set of ISP parameters to the ISP pipeline; and receiving a second video frame from the endoscope, the second video frame generated from a second raw image captured by the image sensor and processed by the ISP pipeline using the first set of ISP parameters.

Abstract: The container includes a base and a lid pivotally coupled to the base. The base includes a bottom wall and a peripheral wall, where a plurality of receptacles are defined in the peripheral wall. The peripheral wall is configured to be moved from a relaxed position to a flexed position by applying a first force to a first portion of the peripheral wall in a first direction and a second force to a second portion of the peripheral wall in a second direction. The lid includes a top wall and a plurality of projections. In the relaxed position, the lid is configured to engage the receptacles so as to retain the lid in a closed configuration. The container is configured to be moved from the closed configuration to an open configuration by moving the lid in a third direction while the peripheral wall is in the flexed position.

Abstract: An integrated apparatus for hydrogenating olefins wherein the hydrogen stream is generated from the electrolysis of water is described. Water is derived from a first reaction step wherein a first feed stream comprising oxygenated hydrocarbons is reacted to produce a first reacted product stream comprising olefins and a second reacted product stream comprising water. The second reacted product stream is electrolyzed to produce an electrolyzer product stream comprising hydrogen. Hydrogen is used to hydrogenate olefins. A paraffin stream can be obtained from the hydrogenated effluent.

Abstract: A method for IP [=Internet Protocol] communication between a mobile terminal and its correspondent node in a mobile radio network. The method comprises establishing an IP connection between the mobile terminal and its correspondent node. After detecting a period of inactivity in the IP connection, keep-alive messages are sent via the IP connection at predetermined intervals, which are varied. The method comprises monitoring the lengths of several periods of inactivity at which the mobile radio network disconnects the IP connection.

Abstract: A magnesium alloy contains a small amount of lithium, zinc, calcium, and manganese. For example, the magnesium alloy may include between 1-5 wt. % lithium, between 0.2-2.0 wt. % zinc, between 0.1-0.5 wt. % calcium, and between 0.1-0.8 wt. % manganese. These alloying elements are all nutrient elements, such that the present alloy can be safely broken down in vivo, then absorbed and/or expelled from the body. Li, Zn, Ca and Mn each contribute to solid-solution strengthening of the alloy. Ca also acts as a grain refiner, while Zn and Ca both form strengthening and corrosion-controlling intermetallic compounds. Optionally, the alloy may also include a small amount of yttrium for added strength and corrosion resistance.
Abstract: A switchable polarizer includes a transparent layer and switchable material layer. The switchable material layer includes strips of a switchable material that are arranged to polarize incident light propagating through the transparent layer when the switchable material is heated to a threshold switching temperature. Abstract: An electronic device, method and computer program product enable an enhanced user experience by adjusting a white balance of a display device according to user preferences in combination with automatically adjusting luminance and chromaticity in response to ambient light conditions. The electronic device includes a color-sensitive ambient light sensor (ALS) and the display device. A controller of the electronic device measures luminance and chromaticity of ambient light using the ALS. The controller adjusts display brightness of the display device in relation to intensity of the luminance of the ambient light. The controller automatically determines a display target correlated color temperature (CCT) in relation to the chromaticity of the ambient light. The controller determines a display target white balance CCT adjusted in relation to user selection(s) related to white balance. The controller sets the display device to digitally map colors about a neutral color defined by the display target white balance.
