Abstract: A method of localization using bearing from environmental features includes receiving an estimated location of a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver associated with a user and a corresponding bearing for the GNSS receiver. The method also includes identifying one or more environmental features about the estimated location of the GNSS receiver. The method further includes determining whether an orientation of a respective environmental feature of the one or more environmental features correlates to the corresponding bearing for the GNSS receiver. When the orientation of the respective environmental feature correlates to the corresponding bearing for the GNSS receiver, the method includes generating an updated bearing for the GNSS receiver or locational system that matches the orientation of the respective environmental feature.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for platooning vehicles or other types of nodes. The platooning may involve receiving a request from a vehicle to initiate a platoon. In response to the request, another vehicle may indicate a desire to form the platoon with the requesting vehicle. Before the platoon is formed, a verification process may be performed to determine the eligibility of the vehicle to join a platoon, which may be based on a rating associated with the vehicle. Once the vehicle is verified, the platoon may be established. Upon establishment, the vehicles may proceed to coordinate actions, and a lead vehicle may be identified for the platoon. Vehicles may request to join and leave the platoon throughout the lifetime of the platoon. The platoon may eventually be dismissed, for example if the lead vehicle leaves the platoon and no one vehicle is willing and/or able to serve as lead vehicle.

Abstract: A hydraulic damper with one end connected to the body of a vehicle and a second end connected to a suspension system of a vehicle. The mechanism allows for multiple hydraulic-fluid metering valve positions to control piston resistance based on a variable pressure input using pressurized gas. The use of compressed gas to mechanically control a valve position allows changes to the piston resistance to be made quickly and to be increased or decreased as desired. The hydraulic damper features a control piston which in turn mechanically controls a valve needle within a hydraulic suspension piston. The position of the valve needle controls the damping characteristics of the suspension piston. When the control piston moves, the position of the valve needle is proportionally adjusted.

Abstract: A sensor-fusion approach of using Brain Machine Interface (BMI) to gain a higher resolution perspective of chassis input control is described according to the present disclosure. Traditional chassis control inputs, such as steering wheel, brake and driver state monitoring sensors can calculate input but often cannot well predict intent. By interpreting well known motor command signals, it can become clear how much chassis input the driver was intending to provide. The BMI may monitor motor cortex to identity when a muscular movement is imminent, such as the movement of the arms to grasp the steering wheel. This combination would enable faster and more precise intent calculation. Additionally, information from driver wearable devices may be used to supplement the determination. This allows for a faster response and well as better integration with the driver.

Abstract: A low-E coating has good color stability (a low ?E* value) upon heat treatment (HT). Thermal stability may be improved by the provision of an as-deposited crystalline or substantially crystalline layer of or including zinc oxide, doped with at least one dopant (e.g., Sn), immediately under an infrared (IR) reflecting layer of or including silver; and/or by the provision of at least one dielectric layer of or including an oxide of zirconium. These have the effect of significantly improving the coating's thermal stability (i.e., lowering the ?E* value). An absorber film may be designed to adjust visible transmission and provide desirable coloration, while maintaining durability and/or thermal stability. The dielectric layer (e.g., of or including an oxide of Zr) may be sputter-deposited so as to have a monoclinic phase in order to improve thermal stability.
