Abstract: A subset of drives with protection groups that have D data members and P parity members is created with (D+P+1) drives each having (D+P) partitions. One of the protection groups is used for spare capacity. (D+P) sequentially numbered protection groups are created by distributing protection group members such that members of protection group (X+Y) modulo (D+P+1) are located on the partition at drive X of partition Y. Alternatively, members of protection group (X?Y) modulo (D+P+1) are located on the partition at drive X of partition Y. New drives are added in single drive increments. When a new drive is added the first (D+P) protection group members of the lowest numbered unrotated partition of the (D+P) lowest numbered drives are rotated onto the new drive. Members are rotated in ascending order by drive to locations in ascending order by partition. A new protection group is created in the partitions made available due to rotation.

Abstract: A memory control system comprises a memory cache and a disaggregated memory pool including a plurality of physical memory media configured to provide volatile data storage for any of a plurality of compute nodes communicatively coupled with the disaggregated memory pool. Processing componentry of the memory control system is configured to populate the memory cache with data items stored by the plurality of compute nodes within the disaggregated memory pool according to a cache fill policy. Upon receiving a memory read request for a data item stored in the disaggregated memory pool from a compute node, the memory cache and disaggregated memory pool are searched in parallel for the data item. Upon retrieving the data item from either the memory cache or disaggregated memory pool, the data item is provided to the compute node.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments for a cloud resources allocation system. An embodiment operates by determining that an application requests a plurality of instances to execute across one or more processors of a cloud services platform. One or more spare instances are requested to fulfill at least a portion of the plurality of instances, and an allocation of at least a subset of the requested one or more spare instances is received. An execution of the application is directed to the allocated subset of the one or more spare instances, including a first spare instance. A notification is received from the cloud services platform that the first spare instance is to be reallocated to a different process. A subsequent execution of the application is redirected to an on demand instance of the cloud services platform.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, performing, by an adjusting mechanism associated with a communications system, polarization adjusting for an uplink of the communications system, and performing, by the adjusting mechanism, polarization adjusting for a downlink of the communications system, wherein a first polarization of the uplink and a second polarization of the downlink are different. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Techniques for modifying an application data set may include receiving a request to modify a storage group of logical devices used by an application; and performing processing that modifies, in accordance with the request, the storage group and an existing remote replication configuration. The processing may include verifying that the logical devices of the storage group are protected by remote replication performed in accordance with the existing remote replication configuration; analyzing the existing remote replication configuration and generating analysis information; performing, in accordance with the analysis information and the request, a first modification to the existing remote replication configuration; and performing, in accordance with the request, a second modification to the storage group. The request may add logical devices to the storage group or remove logical devices from the storage group and accordingly modify the existing remote replication configuration.

Abstract: A method for training a speech conversion model personalized for a target speaker with atypical speech includes obtaining a plurality of transcriptions in a set of spoken training utterances and obtaining a plurality of unspoken training text utterances. Each spoken training utterance is spoken by a target speaker associated with atypical speech and includes a corresponding transcription paired with a corresponding non-synthetic speech representation. The method also includes adapting, using the set of spoken training utterances, a text-to-speech (TTS) model to synthesize speech in a voice of the target speaker and that captures the atypical speech. For each unspoken training text utterance, the method also includes generating, as output from the adapted TTS model, a synthetic speech representation that includes the voice of the target speaker and that captures the atypical speech. The method also includes training the speech conversion model based on the synthetic speech representations.

Abstract: A Drone Detection System (DDS) listens passively to the Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum for a monitored area. If a drone-like signal is detected, the system alerts for the existence of a drone in the monitored area. This detection system may consist of multiple interconnected software and/or hardware-modules. Each module is responsible for extracting a certain physical feature (i.e., physical layer features) of the received signal (e.g. duty-cycle, bandwidth, power, center frequency, envelope in the time and frequency domains, type of modulation, frame size, etc.). The modular design of the system makes it easier to expand by adding more modules that can measure more physical features of the received signal. If the detector detects a signal with certain physical features, it may alert the existence of this signal along with its physical features and name of the most similar known signal from the library.

Abstract: A damper assembly includes a tubular member including a sidewall and a shoulder. The damper assembly includes a rod and a piston coupled to the rod. A secondary piston has a second contact surface, an opposing second surface, an inner cylindrical face defining a central aperture that receives the rod, and an outer cylindrical face. The opposing second surface includes one or more surface grooves, extending between the inner cylindrical face and the outer cylindrical face along the opposing second surface, and one or more bypass orifices disposed about the body member. The bypass orifices extend along the inner cylindrical face between the second contact surface and the opposing second surface. The secondary piston defines a channel extending between the inner cylindrical face and an outer periphery of the body member. The channel and bypass orifices form a fluid flow path when the piston contacts the secondary piston.

Abstract: A mixing system includes a container for containing a fluid, and an agitator assembly disposable in the container for mixing the fluid. The agitator includes an extensible shaft and at least one impeller connected to the extensible shaft.

Abstract: A trailer is disclosed which includes a first door with a first hinge configured to allow the first door to operate between an open position and a closed position, and a second door on the opposing side of the trailer with a second hinge configured to allow the second door to operate between an open position and a closed position. The trailer also includes a roof and a trailer tongue with a coupling configured to attach to a hitch of a vehicle. Two or more wheels are provided that are extendable from an up position to a down position. In this way, when the wheels are in the down position, the trailer is lifted off the ground.

Abstract: An imaging system and method of providing localization data to a vehicle using the imaging system is disclosed. The method may comprise: capturing, from an electronic depth camera, one or more images, wherein the one or more images include at least a portion of the vehicle; and using a deep neural network and the one or more images, determining a multi-degree of freedom (MDF) pose of the vehicle, wherein an optical axis of the electronic depth camera is oriented along a Z-axis according to a Cartesian coordinate system (comprising an X-axis, a Y-axis, and the Z-axis), wherein the Z-axis is plumb with respect to Earth.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a cable connector assembly that includes a cable having conductors secured to contact pads formed on a printed circuit board. A housing and cover are configured to be secured together and combine to form a cavity for receiving the printed circuit board and the cable. A slug is formed around a portion of the cable. Upon assembly of the cover to the housing, the slug is disposed in a pocket formed in the cavity and helps secure the cable to the housing and cover.

Abstract: Multiple on-line coupons are automatically tested on items of interest to a customer, without requiring the customer to perform any action or to look for such coupons in various sources. Such testing can be automatically initiated and performed on items within the customer's shopping cart. Alternatively or additionally, testing can be automatically initiated and performed while the customer is browsing a page for an item on an e-commerce website, before the customer has even placed items in his or her shopping cart. The best coupon or coupons are then presented to the customer, or automatically applied to provide the customer with the appropriate discounts.

Abstract: A smart-home device may include a plurality of wire connectors configured to receive a plurality of signals from an environmental system; a plurality of diodes configured to receive the plurality of signals from the plurality of wire connectors, wherein at least two of the plurality of diodes have different voltage drops; and a power-stealing circuit that is configured to receive outputs of the plurality of diodes and to steal power through one of the plurality of wire connectors that is determined at least in part by the different voltage drops.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described that secure application data being maintained in transient data buffers that are located in a memory that is freely accessible to other components, regardless as to whether those components have permission to access the application data. The system includes an application processor, a memory having a portion configured as a transient data buffer, a hardware unit, and a secure processor. The hardware unit accesses the transient data buffer during execution of an application at the application processor. The secure processor is configured to manage encryption of the transient data buffer as part of giving the hardware unit access to the transient data buffer.

Abstract: A system and method are presented that scans a vector graphics file for image elements that represent individual objects and for image elements that represent movement or actions for those objects. Objects, each possibly represented by multiple shapes, arrows, lines, or shading, are identified as parsed into a standard class definition. In one embodiment, the class definitions and the rule set applied to perform this parsing are pre-defined according to the content of the SVG file. The class definition can then be used to create input into an API for a 3D graphics engine to render the objects with their associated movements.

Abstract: Problem: To realize a connection with a counterpart connector with high spacing efficiency, and to stably maintain an electrically connected state while having a compact and low profile and without the terminal being deformed or damaged, even when subjected to a force from a counterpart terminal when mated with the counterpart terminal, which increases reliability. Solution: The terminal includes a substrate fixing part 52 fixed to a substrate 11, a pair of contact parts which sandwich a counterpart terminal 151, and an elastic deformation part having both ends connected to the substrate fixing part 52 and the contact parts, respectively, wherein a spring constant of the elastic deformation part is smaller than a spring constant of the contact parts.

Abstract: A vehicle steering wheel is provided that includes a rim having a core structure, a plurality of heaters surrounding at least a portion of the core structure to define a plurality of heating zones, at least one sensor for sensing location of a user's hand on the steering wheel, and a controller controlling the plurality of heaters to activate one or more of the heaters based on the sensed location of the hand.

Abstract: Branched block copolymers, derived from alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon-1,3-diene monomer system, and branched polyisoprene homopolymers, derived from isoprene, are obtained by polymerization in the presence of an anionic initiator; at a temperature from 0° C. to 100° C.; followed by coupling with a multifunctional coupling agent of formula (R1O)3Si—Y—Si(OR2)3, wherein R1 and R2 are independently C1-C6 alkyl groups; and Y is a C2-C8 alkylene group. The polymers thus obtained can be used in many applications, including rubber cements having high solids content and low zero shear viscosities, and for producing aqueous latices therefrom.
