Patent number: 12187239Abstract: Systems and methods associated with an electric vehicle are provided. The electric vehicle includes a sensor system, a communications system and a snow clearing system. The systems and methods detect, based on data from the sensor system, snow that may accumulate on a window of the electric vehicle. When snow is detected, a notification is provided, via the communications system, to a remote user device. The notification requests user acceptance of use of charge of a battery of the electric vehicle to operate the snow clearing system of the electric vehicle. The systems and methods receive, by the communications system, a response to the notification from the user device, and when the response indicates acceptance of the use of charge of the battery, the snow clearing system is activated. The snow clearing system is powered by the battery.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2022Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Assignee: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventors: Connor Duesterwald, Desigan Padayachee, Anna Siniavina, Stacey M. Patent number: 12185943Abstract: The present invention provides a suturing device to minimize interference and obstructions during intricate surgeries. The curled suture device is significantly shorter than traditional suturing kits by featuring a needle attached to a specially manufactured thread incorporating a stopping mechanism preceding an angular, semi-rigid portion of thread followed by a curled portion of thread arranged in a corkscrew configuration. The stopping mechanism halts the movement of the thread as the needle and thread intermediate the needle and stopping mechanism is pulled through the suture point, securing the remainder of the thread for access. The semi-rigid portion of thread is thereby utilized in conjunction with its curled portion of thread, allowing for the user's unabated access to the corkscrew configuration to form a ready-made knot, minimizing interference and obstruction during surgery. The thread may be manufactured to form an additional semi-rigid and curled portions of thread upon creation of a knot.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2023Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Assignee: SMART SUTURES, LLCInventor: Thomas Salvant

Patent number: 12189024Abstract: Example embodiments relate to real-time health monitoring for automotive radars. A computing device may receive radar data from multiple radar units that have partially overlapping fields of view and detect a target object located such that the radar units both capture measurements of the target object. The computing device may determine a power level representing the target object for radar data from each radar unit, adjust these power levels, and determine a power difference between them. When the power difference exceeds a threshold power difference, the computing device may perform a calibration process to decrease the power difference below the threshold power difference or alert the vehicle, including onboard algorithms, to the reduced performance of the radar.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2021Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Assignee: Waymo LLCInventor: Michael Fina

Patent number: 12187760Abstract: Photon generating substrates for light-directed oligonucleotide synthesis are disclosed. Light is generated within a solid-state stack that supports growing oligonucleotides. The light may be generated by microLEDs, a pass-through liquid crystal panel, or an LCoS system. Light passes through a transmissive layer on which growing oligonucleotides are attached. Patterning of the light is controlled by selective activation of the microLEDs or by selective control of the transparency of a liquid crystal layer. Photolabile blocking groups are selectively removed by exposure to patterned light emitted from the photon generating substrate.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2021Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Bichlien Hoang Nguyen, Karin Strauss, Jake Allen Smith, Richard Prescott Rouse, Douglas Mitchell Carmean, Matthew David Turner, Gagan Gupta

Patent number: 12189738Abstract: This document describes techniques and systems that enable face authentication embedding migration and drift-compensation. The techniques and systems include a user device that is updated to include both a current version of firmware and an updated version of the firmware. Then, an indication of a face-authentication attempt is received along with image data associated with a user's face. After successful authentication, using the current version of firmware on the image data, the user device uses the updated version of the firmware on the same image data to generate a new embedding. The new embedding is stored as part of a migration profile for the user. Additional new embeddings are collected over a series of subsequent face-authentication attempts until a complete set of new embeddings is stored for the migration profile. Then, the old profile is deleted and the migration profile becomes the enrollment profile used for face authentication.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2019Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Michael Moreno, Michael Williams, Ji Soo Shin, Madhi Hamzeh
