Abstract: A system and method for protecting against a voltage glitch are provided. Generally, the system includes a reset-detector coupled to a supply voltage (VCC) and to a power-on-reset (POR) block, and a glitch-detector coupled to VCC and the reset-detector. The reset-detector is operable to provide a signal to the POR block to generate a global-reset-signal when VCC decreases below a minimum and remains low for at least a first time. The glitch-detector is operable to provide a glitch-signal to the reset-detector to cause it to provide the signal to the POR block when VCC decreases below the minimum and remains low for at least a second time, where the second time is less than the first. The reset-detector can further include a retention-circuit operable to recall a glitch-signal was received and signal the POR block when VCC is restored. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for video encoding/decoding. An apparatus for video decoding includes processing circuitry that decodes prediction information for a current block in a current coded picture. The prediction information indicates a motion vector predictor index (MVP_idx) for selecting a motion vector predictor in a motion vector predictor list. The processing circuitry determines whether the MVP_idx is smaller than a threshold. When the MVP_idx is determined to be smaller than the threshold, the processing circuitry decodes a motion vector difference (MVD) corresponding to the motion vector predictor and reconstructs the current block based on the motion vector predictor and the MVD. When the MVP_idx is determined to be equal to or larger than the threshold, the processing circuitry reconstructs the current block based on the motion vector predictor without the MVD which is not signaled in the coded video sequence.

Abstract: A system and method for determining a score reflecting the use of force that a police officer applied in an incident, comprising a computer system for collecting, storing and processing data relating to an incident involving the police officer's use of force in one or more interactions within an incident; the computer system iteratively generating scores for each use of force interactions within the incident; the computer system comparing the police officer's use of force score, whether overall or for an interaction to a score for a group of officers; and, the computer system generating a risk score by running a model based on the use of force score.

Abstract: Various embodiments comprise systems, methods, architectures, mechanisms and apparatus providing a low-latency trading platform and/or communications system wherein one or more remote client devices communicate with a proxy server via a first communications channel, the proxy server being tightly coupled to (co-located and directly communicating with) a programmable hardware platform configured to communicate with an equities exchange system via a second communications channel, the location of the proxy server and hardware platform being proximate that of at least one equities exchange system, wherein the proxy server is updated by client device communications defining trade execution profiles associated with each of a plurality of equities and corresponding trading strategies, and wherein the hardware platform executes equity trades in response to substantially real time data received from the equities exchange.

The video frame data is divided into one or more coding tree units having a height value greater than 128 pixels and a width value greater than 128 pixels. One or more of the coding tree units are further subdivided to a size smaller than 128 pixels by 128 pixels. The video data is encoded based on the divided and subdivided coding tree units.

Abstract: Bandwidth consumption for IO paths between a storage system and host may be managed. It may be determined whether there is congestion on a front-end port (FEP) link. For example, the storage system may monitor for a notification from the switch in accordance with a Fibre Channel (FC) protocol. If a notification is received indicating congestion on an FEP link, the bandwidth thresholds (BWTs) for one or more IO paths between the storage system and one or more hosts that include the FEP link may be reduced. The host port BWTs may continue to be reduced until a congestion notification communication has not been received for a predetermined amount of time, in response to which the host port BWTs for one or more host port links on IO paths that include the FEP link may be increased. Similar techniques may be employed for an FEP link determined to be faulty.

Abstract: A gesture based authentication system for an autonomous vehicle (AV) uses light detecting and ranging (lidar) to observe a user making a specific gesture and, in response to observing the gesture, authorizes the user to access the vehicle. The authentication system may first identify a human in the vicinity of the AV, and then compare a body position of the identified human to a model trained to determine if a human is performing the specific gesture. If the model determines that the identified human is performing the gesture, the AV authorizes the user to access the vehicle, e.g., to accept a delivery or to ride in the AV.

Abstract: Systems and methods for a package delivery person's device for receiving and reporting a voice confirmation of a package delivery is described. In an example, a package label is scanned, by an operator using a portable scanning and communications device, to identify the package and begin the delivery confirmation process. A time-limited audio recording of a recorded voice proof of delivery that records audio for a determined short period of time is recorded, where a duration of the time-limited audio recording is configurable. The time-limited audio recording is stored at the portable scanning and communications device and is sent from the portable scanning and communications device to a central storage.

Abstract: A resistor network with reduced area and/or improved voltage resolution and methods of designing and operating the same are provided. Generally, the resistor network includes a resistor ladder with a first number (n) of integrated resistors coupled in series between a top and a bottom contact, with one or more contacts coupled between adjacent resistors. A second number of integrated resistors is coupled in parallel between the top and bottom contacts, and a third number of integrated resistors is coupled in series between the second integrated resistors and either the top or the bottom contact. Each of the integrated resistors has a resistance of R, and a voltage developed across each resistor in the resistor ladder is equal to a voltage applied between the top and bottom contacts divided by n. Where the second number is n?1, and the third number is 1, the total number of resistors is 2n.

Abstract: Presented are mobile charging stations for recharging electrified vehicles, methods for making/using such mobile charging stations, and parking facilities equipped with such mobile charging stations. A mobile charging station includes a frame with multiple drive wheels and a prime mover operable to drive the wheels to propel the charging station. A hydrogen storage container and fuel cell are mounted to the frame. The fuel cell oxidizes hydrogen received from the storage container to generate electrical current. An electrical coupling mechanism connects the fuel cell to a traction battery pack of an electric-drive vehicle. A resident or remote controller is programmed to receive charge requests to recharge vehicles, and responsively determines path plan data for the mobile charging station. The controller commands the prime mover to propel the mobile charging station from the charger's origin to a charger destination, and enables the fuel cell to transmit electrical current to the vehicle.

Abstract: Systems and methods for operating an add-on battery that may be electrically coupled to a second system that includes an electrical energy storage device are presented. In one example, the systems and methods provide for extending operation of the second system via selectively powering the second system via the add-on battery in response to operating conditions of the second system.

Abstract: A plastic clip core assembly is disclosed for use in a rotary brush in a carwash. The plastic clip core is comprised of a plastic clip core, a plurality of longitudinal washing elements (“LWE”) and an equal plurality of plastic clips. The plastic clip core assembly is mated to a rotational hub, creating a rotary brush. The plastic clip core has a plurality of semi-cylindrical void cavities, each with an adjoining cylindrical void cavity. Each plastic clip has two parallel members, a first member and a second member. Each LWE has an upper edge, lower edge, free edge, and a cylindrical mount. A first member of a plastic clip fits into the cylindrical mount of the LWE and the semi-cylindrical void cavity. The second member of the plastic clip fits into the cylindrical void cavity, thus securing the LWE to the plastic clip core. The plastic clip core mates with the rotational hub in a no-slip condition.

Abstract: An image sensor may include an array of image pixels arranged in rows and columns. A first portion of the array may include active pixels that are read out using first analog-to-digital converter (ADC) circuits. A second portion of the array may include dark reference pixels that are read out using second analog-to-digital converter (ADC) circuits. The first ADC circuits may have a first sampling rate, a first resolution, and a first size. The second ADC circuits may have an oversampling rate that is greater than the first sampling rate, a second resolution that is greater than the first resolution, and a second size that is bigger than the first size. Configured in this way, the second ADC circuits may perform averaging of a row noise via direct time-domain oversampling, which can help dramatically reduce the number of dark reference pixel columns in the array.

Abstract: A solenoid valve in a manifold is commanded to move to a closed position. Upon activating a pump to supply fluid to the manifold via a supply line, a first pressure is determined in the supply line after commanding the solenoid valve to move to the closed position. Upon deactivating the pump to stop supplying fluid to the manifold, a second pressure is determined in the supply line. Based on a difference between the first pressure and the second pressure, the solenoid valve is determined to be one of (a) at least partially open or (b) in the closed position.

Abstract: A universal filtering mouthpiece for smoking devices comprising a flexible and substantially conical shaped body having a small diameter end and a large diameter end; a hollow smoke passage which runs axially through the conical shaped body from the small diameter end to the large diameter end; a filter cartridge housing centered axially at the mouthpiece end of the said flexible and substantially conical shaped body which communicates with the hollow smoke passage and capable of housing a removable filter; and a disposable, high-airflow filter cartridge consisting of a rigid cylindrical frame having rounded edges, the rigid cylindrical frame housing a smoke filter inside the inner diameter of said rigid cylindrical frame. The universal filtering mouthpiece for smoking devices is readily implementable across a wide variety of smoking devices such as, but not limited to, pipes, bongs, hookahs, water pipes, electronic cigarettes, cigarettes, and pre-roll cigarettes.

Abstract: An automated teller machine (ATM) has a display and a wireless communication interface. The ATM may detect a proximity of a mobile computing device and exhibit on its display an indication of the proximity of mobile computing device to the ATM. The ATM may also be configured to detect when the mobile computing device and the ATM have established a wireless communication connection and display a visual cue on the display that the wireless connection has been established. The ATM is configured to synchronize the display of the ATM with a display of the mobile computing device. The displays may be synched temporally and positionally and may display the same or related content, such as an image or animation at the same time.
