Patent number: 12179798Abstract: An autonomous vehicle is operated along a route according to a nominal driving solution that takes into account one or more first constraints including a first predicted trajectory for an agent vehicle. An alternate scenario is determined based on one or more second external constraints that include a second predicted trajectory for the agent vehicle different from the first predicted trajectory. A risk factor on the nominal driving solution is determined for the alternative scenario, and a secondary driving solution is determined based on the risk factor and the one or more second external constraints. A candidate switching point is identified where the secondary driving solution diverges from the nominal driving solution, and the nominal driving solution is revised up to the candidate switching point based on the secondary driving solution. The autonomous vehicle is then operated based on the revised nominal driving solution.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2020Date of Patent: December 31, 2024Assignee: Waymo LLCInventors: Jared Stephen Russell, Clovis Scotti

Patent number: 12182494Abstract: A system and method of establishing a communication session is disclosed herein. A computing system receives, from a client device, a content item comprising text-based content. The computing system generates a mark-up version of the content item by identifying one or more characters in the text-based content and a relative location of the one or more characters in the content item. The computing system receives, from the client device, an interrogatory related to the content item. The computing system analyzes the mark-up version of the content item to identify an answer to the interrogatory. The computing system generates a response message comprising the identified answer to the interrogatory. The computing system transmits the response message to the client device.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2021Date of Patent: December 31, 2024Assignee: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: Michael Mossoba, Abdelkader M′Hamed Benkreira, Joshua Edwards

Patent number: 12182258Abstract: The techniques disclosed herein enable systems to train machine learning models using benign augmentation to enabled resistance various data poisoning attacks. This is achieved by first training a machine learning model using an initial dataset that is trustworthy and originates from a known source. The initial dataset is then modified to include known attack triggers such as syntactic paraphrasing to generate an augmented dataset. The augmented dataset is then used to train a robust machine learning model based using the initially trained machine learning model. The resultant robust machine learning model is then enabled to detect and resist attacks captured by the augmented dataset. The robust machine learning model can be retrained using an untrusted dataset that includes various compromised inputs in conjunction with the augmented dataset. Retraining results in an updated robust machine learning model that can learn and resist various data poisoning attacks on the fly.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2022Date of Patent: December 31, 2024Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Jack Wilson Stokes, III, Emre Mehmet Kiciman, Manoj Ajith Prasad, Andrew Thomas Marshall

Patent number: 12184928Abstract: A content delivery network (CDN) includes UE gateways, a service switch (SS) mesh network, and server gateways. The CDN nodes maintain cache lists of mappings identifying corresponding upstream system nodes for content items available at content servers connected to the server gateways. When a CDN node receives an upstream service instance request for a specific content item by a corresponding UE connected to a UE gateway, upon determining that a mapping for the specific content item is in its cache list, the CDN node forwards the upstream service instance request to the corresponding upstream system node as part of a process of defining a downstream data path for the specific content item from the corresponding content server to the corresponding UE. The CDN enables service-level content delivery at lower levels of latency than conventional DNS-based systems.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2023Date of Patent: December 31, 2024Assignee: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventor: Deh-Min Richard Wu

Patent number: 12185027Abstract: An electronic system, a method, and a computer program product generate a video recording or stream with spherical background effects for video generation with automatic gesture-control background positioning for a spatially constrained user. The method includes extracting a foreground image from an image stream of the field of view captured by the image capturing device. The method includes generating a composite image stream of the foreground image superimposed on the spherical background image. The method includes identifying, within the image stream, that the foreground image is in a physically constrained space defined by physical constraint(s) around at least a portion of a background of the foreground image. In response to identifying that the foreground image is in a physically constrained space, the method includes activating a gesture-controlled background repositioning feature of the electronic system to automatically rotate a spherical background image based on receipt of a gesture control input.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2022Date of Patent: December 31, 2024Assignee: Motorola Mobility LLCInventors: Amit Kumar Agrawal, Jeffrey S.
