Abstract: A pressure regulator includes a valve body having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet connected by a fluid passageway. An orifice is disposed between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet. A valve seat is disposed within the fluid passageway. A movable valve plug is disposed within the fluid passageway, and the valve plug interacts with the valve seat to selectively open or close the fluid passageway. A cage is disposed in the fluid passageway, the cage surrounds the valve plug, and the cage includes a mechanical stop that limits movement of the valve plug within the cage away from the valve seat.
Abstract: Embodiments are described for dynamically allocating and reallocating system resources between production work tasks and administrative tasks using policies. A resource monitor continuously monitors all resources in a computing system, and whether the resources are used for production work or administrative tasks. A policy can define resources needed to execute an administrative task and conditions which can be used to determine whether or not the administrative command is allocated the resources, even at the expense of a negative impact to production work.

Abstract: A system and method of automating data profile updating and querying includes building bots using standard schema having predefined data types for collecting data relating to a user or object. A bot stores the collected data in a data profile for the user or object in a graph data store that is queried by that bot or another bot to extract data relating to the user or object. The data relating to the user or object may be collected from two or more data channels including, for example, a channel of spoken data and a channel of typed data. The collected data is selectively processed by a bot to establish context for the collected data and is inserted into a knowledge graph that may be joined to another knowledge graph for querying. The bots automate the collection and sharing of collected profile data with other bots in an application ecosystem.

Abstract: A rotating equipment system with in-line drive-sense circuit (DSC) electric power signal processing includes rotating equipment, in-line drive-sense circuits (DSCs), and one or more processing modules. The in-line DSCs receive input electrical power signals and generate motor drive signals for the rotating equipment. An in-line DSC receives an input electrical power signal, processes it to generate and output a motor drive signal to the rotating equipment via a single line and simultaneously senses the motor drive signal via the single line. Based on the sensing of the motor drive signal via the single line, the in-line DSC provides a digital signal to the one or more processing modules that receive and process the digital signal to determine information regarding one or more operational conditions of the rotating equipment, and based thereon, selectively facilitate one or more adaptation operations on the motor drive signal via the in-line DSC.

Abstract: Techniques for evaluating data sets for compression processing may include: receiving first information for a data set, the first information including I/O activity information for the data set, a service level objective for the data set, and a size of the data set; determining, in accordance with the first information, whether the data set meets criteria indicating a specified level of importance and a specified level of I/O activity; responsive to determining the data set meets the criteria, sending second information identifying one or more storage objects of the data set to a compression engine, wherein the one or more storage objects of the data set are identified as having the specified level of importance and at least the specified level of I/O activity; and performing processing, by the compression engine using the second information, to determine whether to compress first data stored in the data set.

Abstract: A system to facilitate sealing a puncture of a vessel includes an implant having first and second expandable sections, and a delivery device that includes an inner tube and a circumscribing outer tube. The outer tube defines a first lumen configured to retain the implant, and a second lumen configured to channel fluid from the vessel through a distal opening proximal to the implant. A pusher circumscribed at least partially by the outer tube is configured to compress the implant to selectively expand the first and second expandable sections. The outer tube is selectively retractable relative to the inner tube such that the first expandable section remains substantially within the first lumen and the second expandable section is positioned outside of the first lumen. The outer tube is further selectively retractable relative to the inner tube such that the first expandable section is positioned outside of the first lumen.
Abstract: An epoxy resin emulsion includes a continuous phase including an aqueous carrier and an acid. The emulsion also includes a dispersed phase including an epoxy resin. The epoxy resin is the reaction product of an amine compound and a first epoxy reactant. The first epoxy reactant itself includes the reaction product of (1) an aromatic diol monomer, (2) a di-glycidyl ether of Bisphenol A and/or a di-glycidyl ether of catechol, and (3) a C8-C18 alkyl phenolic end-capping agent. The (1) aromatic diol monomer has the structure: In this structure, each of R1-R4 is independently a hydrogen atom, a C1-C8 alkyl group, a C3-C8 cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, a halide group, a cyano group, a nitro group, a blocked isocyanate group, or a C1-C8 alkyloxy group or wherein any two or more of R1-R4 may be a fused ring.
Abstract: An apparatus for protecting an electronics module used in a borehole may include an enclosure disposed along a drill string. The electronics module may be attached to the enclosure by at least one joint. The at least one joint allows a predetermined bending between the electronics module and the enclosure that does not mechanically overload the electronics module. In some embodiments, the joint may be a ball joint.

Abstract: The method uses a device which measures the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) present in headspaces of fluid samples to differentiate between authentic and synthetic urine samples. The method includes the use of a device which includes an array of resistive microchemical sensors. The device may be exposed to samples of synthetic and authentic urine to identify a pattern of VOCs in each, these steps being referred to herein as training the device. The device may then be exposed to a urine sample of unknown authenticity and a pattern of VOCs identified. The pattern of VOCs from the urine sample of unknown authenticity may be compared to those of synthetic and authentic urine. In some embodiments the device is installed in a toilet. The method may be used to identify a false sample provided for a urine analysis intended to screen for use of illicit drugs.
