One apparatus (200) includes a processor (202) that determines (702) a beam from multiple beams for preamble transmission. In response to the multiple beams including one or more beams configured with a contention-free resource, the one or more beams configured with a contention-free resource have a higher priority than other beams of the multiple beams.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are directed to a method for allowing a user at a first client device to provide access to restricted content on a content provider server to a user at a second client device without providing identifying information of the second client device or the user to the content provider. The second client device receives, in a messaging app, a message from the first client device comprising a link to a content item at a content provider and an identifier of a private/public key pair on the second client device. Second client device displays the link in the user interface of the messaging app and receives a user selection of the link. Second client device generates generating a digital signature for the link using the private key of the private/public key pair and sends the link and the digital signature to the content provider. The content item is then received from the content provider and displayed on the second client device.

Abstract: A pillow may include a pillowcase having a first end, a second end opposing the first end, and first and second opposing sides extending between the first end and the second end. The pillowcase also may include first and second end chambers respectively adjacent the first and second ends, a medial chamber between the first and second end chambers, and baffles extending between the first and second opposing sides and defining the first and second end chambers and the medial chamber. The pillow also may include a pillow insert within one of the first and second end chambers, and the medial chamber.

Abstract: A system for operating an automated-taxi includes an input-device and a controller-circuit. The input-device is operable by a client to indicate a desired-destination of the client. The display is viewable by the client. The controller-circuit is in communication with the input-device and the display. The controller-circuit is configured determine a preferred-route in accordance with the desired-destination and a plurality of other-destinations indicated by a plurality of other-clients of an automated-taxi. The preferred-route includes an alternate-destination for the client. The alternate-destination characterized as within a distance-threshold of the desired-destination of the client. The controller-circuit is further configured to operate the display to request a route-approval from the client for the alternate-destination, and, in response to receiving the route-approval, operate the automated-taxi in accordance with the preferred-route to transport the client to the alternate-destination.

Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from enhanced reception methods. For example, various transponders and surveillance systems may benefit from reception methods that can distinguish between overlapping pulses from multiple sources. A method can include receiving, at an antenna, a first series of pulses from a first source. The method can also include receiving, at the antenna, a second series of pulses from a second source. The first series and the second series can at least partially overlap each other. The method can further include de-interleaving the first series from the second series using at least one non-time-domain technique.

Abstract: A system and method is provided that displays cursors for street level images, where the cursor changes appearance based on the objects in the image, such as the geographic distance between the objects and the camera position and the surface of the objects. For example, the cursor may appear to lie flat against the objects in the image change size based on the distance between the camera and object's surface.

Abstract: Various examples are directed to system and methods for authenticating a first computing system and a second computing system. The first computing system may receive second system sending data from the second computing system. The first computing system may generate first composite data based at least in part on the second system sending data and first system receiving data. The first computing system may determine that the first composite data is consistent with first composite reference data. The first computing system may generate first tag data based at least in part on the first composite data and send a request message comprising the first tag data to the second computing system. The first computing system may also receive a reply message comprising second tag data from the second computing system and determine that the second tag data is consistent with reference tag data.

Abstract: A device and system for purifying a fluid is provided. The device includes a tank having a hollow interior and a lock feature. A cover is sealingly coupled to the tank. A release assembly is pivotally coupled to the cover and engaged with the lock feature, the release assembly having a relief valve fluidly coupled to the hollow interior and a lock member, the release assembly being rotatable between a first position and a second position, wherein the relief valve is in a closed position and the lock member is engaged with the lock feature in the first position, and wherein the relief valve is open and the lock member rotates away from and is disengaged from the lock feature in the second position.

Abstract: A pack enables objects stored therein to be accessed easily and efficiently. The pack includes a rear portion including one or more first sidewalls, and a front portion including one or more second sidewalls. Each first sidewall has a generally convex configuration, and each second sidewall has a generally concave configuration that complements the convex configuration of the first sidewalls. The second sidewalls are extendable generally along the first sidewalls to couple the front portion to the rear portion.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing system may receive a target image with a first number of bits per color. The system may access masks that each includes dots associated with a grayscale range. A subset of the dots associated with each of the masks may be associated with a subrange of the grayscale range. The dots within the subsets of dots associated with the masks may have different positions. The system may generate a number of images based on the target image and the masks. Each of the images may have a second number of bits per color smaller than the first number of bits per color. The system may display the images sequentially on a display for representing the target image.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure relate to managing a communications system based on software defined networking (SDN) architecture. An SDN controller is provided in the communications system to manage a wireless distribution system (WDS) and a local area network (LAN) based on SDN architecture. The SDN controller is communicatively coupled to a WDS control system in the WDS and a LAN control system in the LAN via respective SDN control data plane interfaces (CDPIs). The SDN controller analyzes a WDS performance report and a LAN performance report and provides a WDS configuration instruction(s) and/or a LAN configuration instruction(s) to the WDS control system and/or the LAN control system to reconfigure a WDS element(s) and/or a LAN element(s) to improve quality-of-experiences (QoEs) of the communications system. Monitoring and optimizing the WDS and the LAN based on a unified software-based network management platform can improve performance at reduced operational costs and complexity.

Abstract: A shield assembly that may be disposed within an engine compartment of an agricultural vehicle, the shield assembly includes a plurality of shields that may block buildup of debris within the engine compartment. At least one shield of the plurality of shields includes a sloped surface that may direct debris away from the engine compartment. The shield assembly also includes a plurality of ducts formed between the plurality of shields. The plurality of ducts may redirect cooling fluid from a cooling fan package to the engine compartment to remove debris from within the engine compartment.

Instances of incontinence, menstruation or uncontrollable bodily functions can be a personal situation that is otherwise unknown to others. However, current receptacles available to dispose of used personal care products fail to provide for a hygienic, easily accessible and discreet that is designed for small spaces, such as a home bathroom or public restroom stall.

Abstract: A receiving device includes a receiving unit configured to receive a segment file constituting a stream of content, a reproducing unit configured to acquire and reproduce the received segment file, and a proxy server unit configured to generate supply availability information including a probability at which the segment file can be supplied to the reproducing unit, in which the proxy server unit generates the supply availability information in response to a request for the segment file from the reproducing unit and supplies the segment file received by the receiving unit to the reproducing unit, and the reproducing unit requests the proxy server unit to transmit a segment file to be reproduced next on the basis of the generated supply availability information. The device can be applied to stream delivery systems.

Abstract: A chemically modified polysaccharide additive may be introduced to a wastewater stream in an effective amount to remove oil-coated particulates and/or heavy metal contaminants from the wastewater stream. The chemically modified polysaccharide includes at least one sulfur-containing moiety and/or nitrogen-containing moiety and the contaminants may be removed by using this chemically modified polysaccharide to capture the contaminants and separating out the captured contaminants.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of soft magnetic alloy embodiments for use in additive manufacturing and structures fabricated from such alloys. In some embodiments, the fabricated structures comprise a continuous thin wall (or plurality thereof) having a geometry that promotes reduced eddy current losses and other performance enhancements. In some embodiments, the fabricated structures are used to make components, such as transformer cores and/or electric motors.

Abstract: Techniques for providing hiccup-less failback and journal recovery. The techniques include determining a head position of a data log of a primary node and placing a marker at a corresponding position in a data log of a secondary node. In response to an IO request, the head of the primary log is moved to allocate space for writing a data entry, and the secondary node is directed to move a head of the secondary log to allocate space for writing the data entry. In response to a data entry being flushed from the primary node, a tail of the primary log is moved to reclaim allocated space for a previous data entry, and the secondary node is directed to move a tail of the secondary log to reclaim previously allocated space. In response to a tail of the secondary log coinciding with the marker position, content of the logs is synchronized.
