Abstract: A buttstock for a rifle has one or two longitudinal slots into which spare ammunition magazines may be inserted, stored, carried, and available for optional use in either a rifle or a pistol configured to receive the ammunition magazine. When fully inserted into a longitudinal slot, the magazine is fully enclosed within the buttstock except for the bottom surface of the magazine, which is approximately flush with the rear surface of the buttstock. One model of the buttstock may hold a single magazine, while another may hold two magazines, where the magazine slots are configured in an over-under arrangement.

Abstract: Generating and validating a subscription key based on subscription parameters associated with a jurisdiction file stored in a NVRAM, the subscription key having characters based on a subscription start date, a subscription term, a key generation date, and a cyclical redundancy check value. Parameters are extracted from the subscription key including the subscription start date, the subscription term, the key generation date, and the cyclical redundancy check value and are stored in a memory of the gaming machine. The key is checked by generating a local cyclical redundancy check value based on a MAC address of the gaming machine and one or more of the extracted parameters, and is validated when the local cyclical redundancy check value matches the cyclical redundancy check value extracted from the subscription key. The jurisdiction file may be updated during a RAM clear function during installation of the gaming machine.

Abstract: A system, method, and device to enable communication between a first and second satellite station and a controller of a mobile platform. The controller includes a processor, a first modem facilitating communication with the first satellite station via a first frequency over a first communication link, and a map of the one or more networks of satellite stations including the second satellite station. The controller utilizes the map of the one or more networks of satellite stations to determine the second satellite station for communicating with the controller. A second modem is coupled to the controller and facilitates communication with the second satellite station via a second frequency over a second communication link, wherein the controller is configured to calculate a time to handoff communication with the mobile communicator from the first communication link to the second communication link.

Abstract: Implementations described and claimed herein provide a system and methods for dynamic re-localization and manifest chunking in a content delivery network. In one implementation, one or more stimuli corresponding to a connection to deliver content from a content source over a network to a user device along a network path are detected. The one or more stimuli indicate a connection issue. An optimized network path through which to deliver the content to the user device is determined based on current network conditions. The optimized network path responds to the connection issue. The user device is dynamically rerouted to the optimized path while providing a substantially continuous delivery of content to the user device.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable media for linking identify information between a group-based communication system and an external application based on a user authorization to share credentials. After sharing the user's credentials, the user may be authenticated with the external application and user data from the group-based communication system may be shared with the external application. Additionally, a preview of a web resource associated with the external application may be displayed to the user within the group-based communication system allowing the user to interact with the web resource from within the group-based communication system.

Abstract: Disclosed methods include a resource manager in a multiple node network receiving a demand for additional bandwidth, from a terminal, and the resource manager having updated information on the state of the mobile node network and, using that the state information, performing test allocation of the requested bandwidth to the requesting terminal. Disclosed methods include determining whether previous commitments of service can be met with the test allocation in place. Associated with a positive result, an allocation is sent to the terminal.

Abstract: Techniques involve: in response to a number of errors of an error type in a storage disk increasing, determining an adjustment rate for a health value of the storage disk based on a total usage time length of the storage disk, where a longer total usage time length corresponds to a higher adjustment rate, and the health value indicates a health condition of the storage disk with respect to the error type. The techniques further involve increasing the adjustment rate based on a total input/output (I/O) number of the storage disk, where a greater total number of I/Os corresponds to a greater increment. The techniques further involve adjusting the health value with the adjustment rate. Such techniques can improve the accuracy of evaluating the health condition of the storage disk.

Abstract: A method in an illustrative embodiment comprises receiving a plurality of indicators relating to an entity of a computer network, arranging the indicators in a plurality of categories of increasing risk, assigning weights to the indicators in the categories as a function of the number of categories and the number of indicators in each category, generating a risk score for the indicators based at least in part on the assigned weights, and initiating at least one automated action relating to the entity of the computer network based at least in part on the risk score. The risk score generation is configured such that a weighted contribution to the risk score of indicators in a relatively low one of the categories decreases as a number of indicators in a relatively high one of the categories increases. Similarly, a weighted contribution to the risk score of indicators in a relatively low one of the categories increases as a number of indicators in a relatively high one of the categories decreases.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for system operational analytics using additional features over time-series counters for health score computation. An exemplary method comprises: obtaining log data from data sources of a monitored system; applying a counting function to the log data to obtain time-series counters for a plurality of distinct features within the log data; applying an additional function to the time-series counters for the plurality of distinct features; and processing an output of the additional function using a machine learning model to obtain a health score for the monitored system based on the output of the additional function.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling a vehicle engine to adjust exhaust warm-up strategy based on a vehicle network information. In one example, in response to an expected decrease in temperature of a catalyst of a vehicle below a threshold and an estimated duration thereof based on communications external from the vehicle, a method may include delaying catalyst heating actions, when the catalyst heating actions are determined to be unable to heat up the catalyst to threshold temperatures. However, the catalyst heating actions may be enabled when the catalyst heating actions are determined to be able to achieve the threshold temperature within the duration.

Abstract: A recycling method is disclosed that includes the steps of compacting recyclable material into a fixed bale of recyclable material while concurrently weighing the OCC in the compactor and independently of the force that the compactor applies to the material or to the bale, assigning an individual identifier to the fixed bale in which the identifier includes at least the weight of the bale, and sending the fixed identified bale to a destination selected from the group consisting of shippers, mills, rebalers, or a customers for the baled recyclable material. Also, devices and methods are disclosed for upgrading existing or new balers to enable them to perform at least some portions of the improved recycling methods. Example devices include baler-mounted load-cell weight sensors and U-shaped anchor plates for securing them in place in a free-floating arrangement.

Abstract: A locking adjustable trailer hitch system includes a vehicle trailer hitch receiver having a receiver opening, an adjustable hitch bar that is slidably and removably received by the trailer hitch receiver, and a cable lock that is attached through the trailer hitch receiver and the hitch bar, and locked in place to secure and lock the hitch bar to the trailer hitch receiver. The hitch system further includes an anti-wobble device to secure and stabilize the hitch bar within the hitch receiver. The hitch bar can extend along the length of the hitch bar such that the distal end of the hitch bar can be positioned at an adjustable distance from the receiver. In certain embodiments, the hitch bar may include an extended slotted depression alongside one of its walls. Additionally, transmitting a recommendation based on the selected at least one available vehicle for purchase.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods for lysis of cells that combine three lysis steps—(1) heat, (2) detergent and (3) base—into a single step and that can be completed in a short period of time, e.g., a few minutes. The methods combine a normally incompatible detergent and base lysis, allow for simplified removal of detergent after lysis, and importantly, limits damage to DNA, such as shearing, that typically results from separate application of conventional lysis methods, yielding improved quality and quantities of genomic DNA (gDNA).
