Abstract: A vehicle storage compartment includes a first vehicle component including a pin, a second vehicle component pivotally hinged to the first vehicle component. The first vehicle component and the second vehicle component define a storage cavity in which a vehicle occupant in a passenger compartment may store objects. The compartment includes a dampener arm that is pivotally rotatable about one of the first pin and the second pin and defining a slot enclosing the other one of the first pin and second pin. The dampener arm slot defines an interference fit with the other one of the first pin and the second pin such that pivoting of the second vehicle component is dampened.

Abstract: A learning based speed planner for autonomous driving vehicles (ADV) is disclosed. An ADV is set into human-driving mode. Driving control elements are under control of a human driver, and other ADV logic is enabled. The ADV plans a route path on a segment of the route having an obstacle. ADV logic generates a station-time graph for the path of the segment, and a grid of cells to encompass the path and obstacle. A feature vector is generated from the grid. Human driving behavior is recorded as the ADV is navigated along the path. Recorded driving data for a large plurality of paths, obstacles and ADVs is transmitted to a server to generate a speed model. The speed model is downloaded to one or more ADVs for use in autonomous driving mode, to determine an initial speed to use in similar driving situations.

A latch member is operably coupled with a seat base frame and the arm of the support plate. The latch member is selectively engaged with the retention member. A release assembly is operably coupled with the latch member. The release assembly includes a latch link coupled with the latch member at a first end. A rod link is rotatably coupled with a second end of the latch link and is fixedly coupled with a torque rod. Movement of the first end of the latch link toward a front of the seat base frame is configured to rotate the latch member and the torque rod.

Abstract: A razor handle. The razor handle can have a main body and a pivoting head pivotally coupled with the main body about a first axis of rotation. A severable benefit delivery member can extend from a main body connection on the main body to a pivoting head connection on the pivoting head, the benefit delivery member providing a first biasing torque on the pivoting head to affect an angular deflection about the first axis of rotation of the pivoting head relative to the main body. A spring member can extend from a spring-main-body connection on the main body to a spring-pivoting-head connection on the pivoting head, the spring member applying a second biasing torque to affect an angular deflection about the first axis of rotation of the pivoting head relative to the main body.

Abstract: A heat-assisted magnetic recording device includes a write pole positionable adjacent a magnetic recording medium and configured to write data to the medium. A near-field transducer is situated proximate the write pole and configured to produce a thermal spot on the medium. A channel circuit is configured to generate a sequence of symbols having a length of nT, where T is a channel clock rate and n is an integer over a predetermined range. A write driver is configured to apply bi-directional write currents to the write pole to record the sequence of symbols at a location of the thermal spot on the medium, wherein a duration of applying the write currents to the write pole by the write driver is dependent on a length of the sequence of symbols and the effective thermal spot size.
Abstract: Systems and methods relate to predicting improved operating hours for a merchant. For example, a method may include determining operating hours of a target merchant; identifying one or more merchants other than the target merchant having one or more common characteristics with the target merchant; obtaining transactional data indicating customer transactions at the one or more merchants other than the target merchant; computing an estimate of potential customer transactions at the target merchant during a the period of time not within the operating hours by processing input data including the obtained transactional data using a trained machine learning model to produce the estimate, the estimate being a number or value of consumer transactions missed as a result of the target merchant being closed during the period of time; and transmitting, to the target merchant, information indicating the computed estimate.
Abstract: Wedgelet-based coding for coding blocks of varying size is rendered more efficient by the usage of a variable length coded syntax element having a prefix and a suffix, wherein the size of the suffix is dependent on the prefix and the size of the current coding block. By this measure, it is feasible to efficiently adapt the length of the variable-length coded syntax element which controls the bi-partitioning of the current coding block to the actual needs, namely the size, of the current coding block, and the variability of the bi-partitioning by varying the wedglet separation line, respectively. The greater the current coding block is, the longer the variable-length coded syntax element may be. This length dependency may even be sufficiently effective in terms of coding efficiency so that the variable length coded syntax element may be coded without context-adaptive entropy coding, but directly or using fixed-equal-probability binary entropy coding.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatuses for data copy. A method comprises receiving, from a client module in a first processing unit, a read request for reading data from a first storage region. The method further comprises, in response to determining from the read request that the data is to be copied, obtaining, from a cache, a first bitmap associated with the first storage region, the first bitmap indicating if the first storage region is filled with zero. The method further comprises, in response to determining from the first bitmap that the first storage region is filled with zero, sending, to the client module, an indication that the data is zero.
Abstract: The brain appears to have organized cardiac frequency angiographic phenomena with such coherence as to qualify as vascular pulse waves. Separate arterial and venous vascular pulse waves may be resolved. This disclosure states the method of extracting a spatiotemporal reconstruction of the cardiac frequency phenomena present in an angiogram obtained at faster than cardiac frequency. A wavelet transform is applied to each of the pixel-wise time signals of the angiogram. If there is motion alias then instead a high frequency resolution wavelet transform of the overall angiographic time intensity curve is cross-correlated to high temporal resolution wavelet transforms of the pixel-wise time signals. The result is filtered for cardiac wavelet scale then pixel-wise inverse wavelet transformed. This gives a complex-valued spatiotemporal grid of cardiac frequency angiographic phenomena. It may be rendered with a brightness-hue color model or subjected to further analysis.

Abstract: Entities such as hotels, restaurants, resorts, houses, vehicles, and other places and things, are associated with images of each entity. The images are tagged using machine learning to identify what aspects of the associated entity are captured by each image. When a user is requested to select an entity from a set of entities, a user preference model is used to determine what tags the user is interested in. The tags are used to select images associated with the entities from the set of entities, and the selected images are displayed to the user. The user can then provide indicators that show which of the displayed images the user likes or dislikes. Based on the indicators, one or more entities from the set of entities is presented to the user. The model may also be updated based on the indicators.
